DO NOT READ THIS. IT OFFERS NOTHING FOR WEIGHT LOSS OR WEIGHT MAINTENANCE. RATHER, GO READ A DUKAN DIET BOOK.
(read below for explanation)
A complete waste of time as it offers only a knock-off version of Kaizen philosophy for weight loss. In addition, it reiterates the very same concepts of every dietary and exercise programme it repudiates in the first place. All it says is to track your intake of food and your calorie expenditure. (So does all other diets.) It does fail to introduce any new concept for achieving desired result other than providing a fictional story of an overweight kid who succeeded in learning hypnotherapy and somehow leapt up to becoming a weight loss coach even though much of the first chapters are narrated from a standpoint of salesperson. With regard to types of food or macronutrients, it barely scratches the surface and uses out-of-place analogies such as fuel tank of a car. The body of weak arguments fails to create a coherent strategy as well as negating each other from time to time. I refuse to give even one star on these grounds.
Losing unwanted kilos is a huge undertaking. This book is about long term changes for long term results. I commend Andrew for telling his story even if it was a bit repetitive at times. The book clearly lays out what the challenges ahead are. He has decided that the problem isn't only lack of discipline. It's about asking yourself 'Why do I want to lose weight'? You'll have to purchase the book to learn all about his 'Pain Equation'. Suffice to say that I think it works (yes, I've lost weight since applying it). He does go into a lot of the usual reading labels and calorie counting info which I've read many times before in other books. I skimmed most of those pages.
His recommends the tried and true tool of food logging. I personally have found an app that doesn't have obsessive calorie counting. It's only just recording your meals and snacks. It's called 'Food Diary' and it works really well because it's easy to log what you ate and when. It helps keep you accountable to yourself.
The last chapter gives very good advice to follow. In a nutshell he's saying that having patience is CRUCIAL to success. We all want to 'get rich quick' and 'lose weight fast' but I agree with Andrew that that's magical thinking.
I’m sorry, some good (albeit obvious) bits in here. But, about what you’d expect for an independently published book by an ‘influencer’ 🥴 what a sad time we are living in, this guy is not very smart , not very educated, not even very nice or kind or good. He is obsessed over body and diet but his hair is falling out and he has acne due to ‘stress’ and mental health. Obviously, this obsession in todays attention economy and the visual isn’t where we should be headed or staying - as a people. There are better books and better authors to read . But, if it helps you lose weight and that is what you need - good on you. Just remember that you are enough already. And, poor mental health is a bigger killer than any food. So love yourself, find a way to be of service to others and eat like you love your body and your life .
I was looking for books about dealing with the psychology of succeeding in weight loss and came across this one. I think it makes a lot of sense. He takes you through some mental processes which I found counterintuitive but which now make sense to me. I think this concept will help me to keep my motivation and engagement in the weight loss process. I agree with his concept of the basic science of weight loss and I think that adding the psychological tips will be helpful to keep doing the work to achieve my goal.
Life changing book and I don't say this lightly. This is an emotive guide, that makes you look at yourself differently. I have failed with so many diets, but for the first time in many years I feel in control. Thanks Andrew, I am in your debt forever
No gimmicks No fads Will help you change your weight permanently and almost painlessly using psychology techniques Brilliant book and amazing author Thanks for changing my life
