Falling for this criminal mastermind could cost me everything. The only question - is true love worth it?

My career has been my only true passion until I met him.

I’ve tried dating, but none of the executives ever impressed me. I deal with the assholes daily from at least 9 to 5. I don’t need to massage their huge egos in my bedroom too.

Then I met Donatello Brasi. Young, bold, and a cyber-mastermind, he’s nothing like the men I know.

The sex is out of this world. He loves that I’m experienced. I love his eagerness to please. This will be the greatest fling I ever had. Problem is that the more time I spend with Donatello, the more I appreciate him outside of the bedroom. If I’m not careful, I might do something I’ve never done—fall for him.

But when I discover Donatello’s secret, everything changes. A modern-day Robin Hood, he steals from the rich and helps the poor. It would be admirable if it wasn’t highly illegal. I know I should leave him before everything gets even more complicated, but he’s the first addiction I can’t kick.

A gangster with morals and a tough businesswoman? There’s no happy ending for us unless I’m willing to risk everything I worked so hard for and say yes to all that Donatello Brasi is.

Donatello is a Steamy Enemies-to-Lovers Crime Romance. No cheating, no cliffhanger, plenty of heat, and a guaranteed HEA that'll make your heart melt!

Donatello is the 2nd Book in the "Crime and Passion" series, but can also be read as a standalone.

I thought this would be a fun maybe sexy story, unfortunately I lost interest within the first few pages. Amanda while only 37 y/o sounded like she was a 57 y/o woman flirting with a 17 y/o. Her constant harping on her age was just annoying.

Donatello in the beginning intrigued me but he too quickly got to be annoying. He would be cagey and coy one minute, then pissy the next, he would sound mature for a hot minute then be so out there I was left wondering half the time what he was saying.

To be honest their dialogue like the story seemed to be all over the place, sexy, waspish, whiny, immature, condescending, political, black lives matter, dark net, current events with the pandemic the story had too many twists and turns with very little character development. Also what’s with Amanda’s parents she’s 37 y/o they shouldn’t be that controlling at this stage in her life.

The author also seemed to at times not understand the meaning of the words used. Donatello said, “Let’s order,” and his calm swagger returned to his face…swagger relates to how a person walks. Who knows maybe his face was trying to walk away from the story?

This was a drawn out confusing story, with characters that had no substance and a plot that was like a holiday fruitcake way to much stuff in the mix and a small nibble is all you can handle.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. That being said, Donatello was a DNF. The book grabbed my interest in the beginning because Donatello is a young, brash hacker with ideals of wanting to be a modern day Robin Hood and using his skills to help the helpless. He meets Amanda and slowly introduces her to his world, but she is stuck between her family, her corporate beliefs and society's expectations.

Unfortunately, the book takes a very deep plunge into politics, innuendo, and the author's BS. At first, to mask or not to mask gets a pass and a move on. Halfway through the book, it takes a turn toward the police, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and what it means to be American. Reading books has always been an enjoyment for me as it provides an hour or two into a fantasy world where everyone gets a HEA. In today's political climate, if I wanted to read someone else's opinion and political leanings and the aggravation and stress that accompanies that, I would read Facebook. I am bi-racial and a woman. I have my opinions and you have yours. Ms. Miller is allowed to express her opinions, which may or may not be the same as mine. The point of this review is the blurb should contain a warning for someone buying this book that it is very political in content.

Excellent with a relative view of good and evil
If I could, I definitely would have rated 6 stars. It's great and totally unpredictable, with fabulous characters just as unpredictable from start to finish (which again is unexpected from the early chapters.)
The story is torrid, it is never linear, everything is peaks and drops, full of manipulation, false narrative paths to surprise us.
Amanda is 37 and thinks being a cougar is not cool when Donatello approaches her, who looks so much younger. But when she loses a bet and owes him a date, she's bound to see him again. In the eyes of this mysterious young man, the age difference becomes largely secondary when she begins to see a darker world, more vague between her reality and Donatello's one.
The story takes a fairly unexpected outlook, but not really wrong, of the world, the power of money, on charity or the image of charity given by people in power, on actions that are actually effective.
It was my first time reading this author and it won't be the last.

This is another great from this new to me author Her books have a lot of depth and it takes a while top get to the base of her characters but once you do they are ingrained into you.

Amanda is a business woman who is fed up with the men in her life she is over businessmen who think they are so important she may have to put up with them through the day but she has no intention of dealing with them in her personal life Then she meets Donatello he is like a spring breeze in her life totally different to all she has known and she is falling for him in a big way Then she discovers he is a master cyber criminal yes he may steal to give i away to those that need it but is is still illegal Can she walk away from the only man she has ever loved You will have to read to see

This story had me hooked from the first chapter. This is more of an older woman / younger man with all of the reservations that are inherent and not so much an enemies to lovers story. Donatello is a quirky, confident , anti-establishment guy and Amanda is the complete opposite being a corporate CEO type. They intrigue each other with their banter and the relationship that builds is intriguing and has plenty of steam. The plot takes off, you think you know where it’s going and then it makes a hard right. It kept me guessing and wanting to know what comes next. Be forewarned, the story itself is a bit of a political statement.

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

Donatello and Amanda's story was okay. I would give it 2.5 stars. The story is good; it just felt really rushed to me. I don't think Donatello would admit cybercrimes he committed to Amanda so easily and so early in their relationship. Then there was just a lot going on in the story that I did not get a clear handle on certain storylines like Amanda's parents. It sounded like they were not upstanding citizens as we were led to believe but we don't know why. I also think there could have been a little more character development.

This is the second book I have read from this author, I read this one immediately after finishing book 1 in the series. I loved book 1 but this book not so much. I was expecting a good entertaining read just as I had with book 1. Book 2 starts off just as good but for some reason the author seems more political in this book. I read this type of book for entertainment, to escape reality so having it in the book wasn’t really ideal for me. I’m so disappointed as I had really hoped for more.

Donatello: A Steamy Enemies-to-Lovers Crime Romance by Monica J. Miller is an interesting book with layers of emotion. While not being dark, it is more than just a cookie cutter romance. The characters take time to develop and going along for the ride is well worth it. Steamy sex! A little Angst. It really was wonderful. Now I want to read all the author's works.

This book was incorrectly titled. This was not an enemies-to-lovers book. Donatello and Amanda never hated each other. There was no indication when texting was taking place, so it took a while to figure out what was happening. It was very confusing.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Whilst I enjoyed the start of this book, I just found the story a little hard to follow, and I found Donatello to be a fairly unlikeable character. His attitude towards certain things, and also towards Amanda, just put me off. Amanda's family dynamic was also strange to me.

It wasn't a terrible read, and did have some aspects that I liked (their banter, and the parts when they were in hiding) but overall it just wasn't for me.

I received this book in exchange for a honest review.

Donatello was a DNF for me. I tried to like it. But the attitude of the female character, the mention of the real life events that are now taking place.. it was just too much. I read to escape. I don’t read a author’s books to know their take on what’s going on in the real world or to have their beliefs told through a story they’ve written. I know this will be the one and only book that I read if this author.
