The plot of the story has been drafted well but the execution of the same could have been better. The murder mystery, which is supposed to be the main plot gets sidelined in all the emotional description that the author introduced in the story. The idea of a middle-class family, wrought with challenges, facing unprecedented hurdles was an interesting setting, coupled with parallel storylines that could have added volumes to the story. with Rajveer’s personal story overshadowing the main plot, the idea of a murder mystery is lost. Another thing that irked me was the overload of information and the insistence of the author of explaining things too much. The book has multiple grammatical and spelling mistakes and needs a second round of editing to make it better. The climax was good but by that time, the interest of the reader in the story wanes away. At the same time, not all is bad in the story. It has its good moments when we see Rajveer interacting with his wife, or when we see his dedication to work.

Coming to the characters, Rajveer as a character was interesting and I loved how emotionally invested he was in his job. Jiganshu created a character that paid attention to detail and I loved the quirkiness that he had. Ritesh as a character was another one that fascinated me with his ability to sacrifice for his family. His dedication to his responsibilities was commendable. I would have loved to see some insight and role of the elder brother, Pawan as well, and it would have made an interesting addition to the plot. The description of Rajveer’s wife, however, was unnecessary and it took up a lot of space in the plot line.

Papa is a crime thriller by Jiganshu Sharma. It tells us story about a simple middle class family Mehra, whose daughter Ishita gets murdered. Family patriarch the eponymous papa had died in fatal car accident before.

What I liked most about it is a plot. There are other plot lines running parallel but it doesn't get confusing. What I didnt like is authors tendency to over explain every thing. There were few things which didn't need explaining or I would have loved to come to conclusion on my own.
Characters were good and believable. They provided necessary arc to the story some however I felt were bit too much. But I really liked inspector.
Overall story was good. I really liked it. Twists and turns provided surprise. I would have given it five stars had it been edited properly.

the cover of the book itself says that it's a crime thriller. This book was nicely written and flow was engaging. At point I felt that book was a bit slow but I was worth it.

❣Ishita Mehra was murdered. Her father also died a few years back in a car accident. Now the responsibility of the house was on two sons of the family. The elder was in Canada for higher studies and other one was a librarian. Their sister was deaf.

❣the way story goes ahead is awesome and captivating.

❣who killed ishita? Why the book of name is papa? The story is not going to be like the way you think.
Read it.

There are very few books that fascinate me due to their title but this certainly was one. Before going through the blurb I had this thought in my mind that it will be somewhere related to the role of a father in a child's life but the premise gave me a different impression altogether and hence I started with it

The story starts with Pawan , the elder son of Mehra family who has left for Australia to pursue higher studies . Things were going normal until Suresh Mehra , father of Ritesh and Pawan dies in a road accident. The entire onus falls on Ritesh's young shoulder and he leaves his studies in the middle to take care of families' finances. The things have just started to get back on track when his younger sister Ishita is murdered and everything comes crashing down all over again. Rajveer the investigation officer summons Ritesh so that he can put together the pieces of jigsaw puzzle. Is it a straightforward case or there is more to it than what meets the eye? For this readers have to grab the novel.

The story has its moments. The kind of thrill Jiganshu has tried to create augurs well and the intent is certainly there. The way character sketch of Ritesh is done , it made me feel a deep connect with him . Tanya , his love interest had a small but role but she made her presence felt. I believe if Radha ,Rajveer's wife can be given good amount of attention, Tanya deserved more. The climax break my heart . The editing is poor especially with regards to using pronouns, first and third personal pronouns have been used interchangebly at many junctures which puts me off .What seemed like a thriller was actually more of an emotional tale with a bit of unnecessary information which I found interesting for a change. Some readers might argue that Rajveer's personal story came out of nowhere and it simply overshadowed the main plot but for me , it adds a much needed humor to the tale amidst the tense environment .

Overall a novel that can be picked for its intent but on't satiate you with its ending

The story is a crime thriller which focuses on the murder of Ishita Mehra and the investigation by inspector Rajeev Singhmar.

Ishita is murdered suspiciously and there is no evidence of any struggle or molestation which makes the case complicated for the police. She lived with her mom, brothers Ritesh and Pawan and her sister Geetu, who is mentally unstable. And Ritesh who is the sole breadwinner of the house and loves his family so much is devastated with his sister's death.

As his first crime investigation, Rajeev is over-enthusiastic and hell-bent on finding the murderer. As the investigation begins the case gets more and more complicated as he meets dead end every time.

And it takes us through different psychological sequences, a lot of mystery, suspense and it is so captivating that it is sure to keep the readers hooked to story.

Is it a murder or suicide?
Will the police be able to crack the mystery?

The author has narrated the story beautifully and the language is simple and lucid, the place of the story is decent. It us very interesting to read of the police is able to solve the mystery or not. It is definitely a page-turner. I liked this story and I recommend it to everyone.

Well plotted.

Such a mind blowing reading after a really long time. Author has very precisely plotted a narrative that maintains your interest till the end. I really appreciate such a story.
The story travels in flashes pf past and present, both in parallel to each other. The Mehra family was doing really well until one day the head of the family and father of the protagonist, Ritesh died in a road accident. Ritesh took over the responsibilities and just when everything was about to get back to normal, his younger sister Ishita also died mysteriously leaving the family in a disgusting state. The story rotates around solving the murder mystery of Ishita.
Book is psychological crime thriller that binds you till the very end. Title of the book, Papa, is mysterious and you would be able to understand it only after reading it properly. This spooky season, I got to read this masterpiece, as I'll call it, and found it really fascinating. Author has done a great job. Writing style is simple and story stays on the path till the end. It was a short read. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to read a really interesting plot.

I must say, I had hug expectations from this book. I was taken by the title and by its blurb. But when I started reading it, sorry to say I was bored. The story is about a family of Six, parents and 2 boys and 2 girls, and how their lives changed after one tragic accident, death of father but later the family is again faced with the death of sister.

I have to say, the book from start and towards the end was dragging a lot. But I also saw that the story had potential but soon it lost its plot. The main issue I had was the narration. I was confused with who is narrating the story, there are parts where Ritesh, Rajveer are talking about their lives and suddenly second person ( unknown) starts narrating. I would have loved more had it been Ishita’s version than Ritesh. Then the next part was, the book had lots of typos/ Irregular formation of sentences. Next I quite didnt understand how the title is related to book, yes there are places where Papa comes in the picture but the author has not given a clear picture on that.

Overall I was disappointed from the book.

PAPA by Jiganshu Sharma is a psychological, crime thriller which talks about the main protagonist family of Mehra's who live together at Kanta Kunj in Dwarka, Delhi. The story is about solving the murder mystery of a girl named Ishita Mehra.

Ishita Mehra is dead, her father died sometime ago in a car accident. The family depends on their two male children - Ritesh and Pawan. Pawan is in Canada studying for his MBA. Ritesh takes up a job in his college library.

Then we see Geeta, the youngest daughter of Kanta Mehra's. She is deaf and always plays around with her doll. The characters are well developed. We see the story in two time frames. One where we see the past of this family which is before Ishita's death.

And in the present, we see Junior Inspector - Rajveer Singhmar solving the murder case of Ishita Mehra. We see psychological thriller aspects which is a complete twist in this story. The death of their father has caused both Kanta Mehra and Ishita Mehra immense pain.

To find out more about what happened and who killed Ishita, do checkout this book. The writing style is very well and the story is fast paced. The book is a complete page turner and I highly recommend if you are looking for diving into thriller novels.

I like to read thrillers, mysteries, and horror during the fall months, thus I picked it up. It was a very short read but it took me a lot of time to finish the book. The plot was simple but I was losing interest very frequently. The narration is very formal and I wanted to be a smooth read. The plot was not unique but enjoyable. A good inspector not getting enough cases until one comes along which blows everyone away. The cover is very attractive, simple yet eye-catching. The characters are a strong forte of the book, as they are well developed and realistic. Some handwritten notes and flowcharts have been added to enhance the reading experience. When I was reading the book in a manner I was solving the case as the storyline unfurls. It has a domestic undertone that is endearing. It was a 3.5-star book for him.

Unexpected ending

This story revolves around the life of Inspector Rajveer, and Ritesh Mehra whose sister is murdered. Rajveer investigates the murder and we come to know about Ritesh and Rajveer. The plot is unique and has an unexpected twist in the end. It can be termed as a domestic tragic thriller. The story is set in Delhi. However, there are some typos in the book and at some point it was difficult to understand who is the speaker but it doesn't affect the thrill of the story.
Highly recommended for contemporary crime thriller and suspense, mystery lovers.

Papa by Jiganshu Sharma

By book title you may not have an idea about this book but blurb gave me lot of ideas about this book. Basically the book is a crime thriller but it shows us various shades of life like mental health, loneliness and depression .It also focuses on how a family survives when the head of the family means father or only bread earner  leaves this world.
The Story is very simple but how the author narrates this story makes it an interesting and fascinating book. Characters are well described and each character has its unique personality and traits so I liked all the characters of this book specially Rajveer an inspector and Ritesh Mehra the main character of this book. I really liked the way Rajveer always talked to himself. Sometimes it is quite funny too. Ritesh in his early twenties and he got all the responsibilities after his father's death and his sister Ishita Mehra found dead in her room so there is a lot of suspense and mystery throughout. End of the story is really very sad and shocking at the same time.
The Language used by the author is also very simple so anyone can read this book in just one sitting.

Papa by Jiganshu Sharma is a crime thriller. This story is about the Mehra family who lives in Kanta Kunj, Delhi. This family faces a lot of hardship after Suresh Mehra, Father of the family, passes away in an accident and just months after his death, Ishita Mehra, his daughter, is murdered. After their father’s death, Ritesh Mehra takes the responsibility of the family and starts earning. The story then moves on to solving Ishita Mehra’s mysterious death case. The cop involved in solving Ishita Mehra’s case is Rajveer. Initially, Rajveer wasn’t content with his work as his superior never gave him any chance to handle a major case. Ishita’s case is his first case and he collects all evidence and proofs to solve the case. To know who killed Ishita and what exactly happened, Grab your copies now.

Initially, it was slow and the plot wasn’t interesting but as the story progressed there were a lot of twists and turns. This book is definitely a page-turner. The author has penned it meticulously keeping the suspense intact. The characterization was done well, it had the depth and scope.

Recommend it to crime & thriller lovers!!!!!

The book is about happy closely knitted Mehra family. The eldest son, Pawan, got himself enrolled for MBA in Australia, it disturbed the financial status of the family. Soon a disaster happens, the untimely demise of Suresh Mehra, father of Pawan, in a road accident.

The family gets emotionally and financially devastated. Ritesh, the younger son, left his studies and took up a job of a junior librarian. He alongwith his sister, Ishita, takes care of their Mother (who is under depression) and Geetu, their youngest sibling (who is special).

Ritesh is burdened by responsibilities and felt lonely and broken till he met Tanya. They felt in love and Ritesh started feeling a bit better about his life. But his life had other plans. Ishita dies.....Is it a murder???? Or suicide????.....Read the book to know.

I liked the plot and smoothness in writing but I would have loved it, if there was more mystery into it.

I recommend the book to new readers of crime/thriller genre.

Book : Papa
Author: Jiganshu Sharma

Review: The book is a crime thriller where in the untimely death of the victims father and sister forces him to take responsibility of his family.
The murder of the sister occurs in sinister circumstances which leaves our protagonist perturbed. The investigation of the murder is filled with twists and turns.
Read on to find out!

Suspense factor was really good .
Plot was predictable but intriguing the real tick off for me was the editing , the language was easy but requires major editing which hopefully will be corrected in the next print .
Characterisation was ok the author could have added a little more depth to the characters.
Overall a one time read

Can a dead man kill someone?

'PAPA'
-Jiganshu Sharma

My rating:4/5

A quick read filled with suspense, thrill and a little bit of scare, That's PAPA.

The book revolves around the Kanta Kunj household. A middle-class family, with tight budgets, big dreams and lots of love. But with the sudden death of the horse head, Mr Suresh Mehra, Kanta Kunj falls apart. The place once filled with laughs and fun becomes the most of despair and distress. And then comes the murder of Ishita Mehra, the eldest daughter of the family! Who's the murderer of this young, shy and introvert girl who's the whole world surrounds her family? Read PAPA to find out!

My favourite thing about this book was the police notes added in between the pages. They made book seem even more realistic and thrilling. The author succeeded in creating the whole reading experience even more wholesome with so much details.

The constant change in narration was kind of confusing. Over glorifying of the male lead was boring and irritating. The book was also filled with so much sexism that I actually thought the author was a male!

I'd recommend this book to all the suspense lovers out there without a second thought. It was a different read and fun read for me !

HAPPY READING!

There are times when you expect a lot from a book and then there are times when a book does well even when no one really roots for it that much. “PAPA” by Jiganshu Sharma falls in the second category. The book with its minimalist cover and a well set plot appeals to me via its simplicity. I can feel that this was a work of a first-time writer who was chasing her dreams and following her passion and was devoid of even an iota of confusion in regards to the plot and the tone of the book. Kudos to the author for being courageous enough to follow her heart.

Now, coming to the book, the book is a psychological crime that touches a lot of important issues like depression, mental health, the impact of parent-child relationship and loneliness among other issues. It tells the tale of how a family battles all odds and strives to survive. The background of the story with all the cop drama and the family crisis is very similar to the dark murder mysteries we often see in bollywood like “The Talwars” or “Talaash”. It is raw and gritty and the twist takes you by surprise when you least expect it.
Try spending your week trying to figure out who killed Ishita Mehra and you might enjoy it.

The narrative and fluency is beautiful and the language is easy enough for the readers, however I feel it lacks proper editing. The English is incorrect with a few typos here and there. All in all the book is worth a try.

This book is about a middle class family which have dreams and passion to fulfill them, but things changes as father in the family met with an accident and situation changes and take a total U-turn elder son doing his study in Australia younger son becomes head of the family left his dream to study for a job to fulfill his family needs and support his sister education , family which have happiness and healthy loving environment changed into a gloomy one and mother fall into depression after father death and youngest child remain unaffected because of her mental condition, and murder of elder girl child Ishita change the environment of the house , younger son becomes depressed and Don't know what to do whom to discuss his inner turmoil but police did a fine job and family have suffered so much , author give a gothic touch about the elder daughter that she can see the soul presence and can conversate with them . I think that was turning point of story , writing of the author is fresh and author show soft side of police too which is difficult to digest, plus author show the smoothness of solving the case by police, that too a new recruit who take suggestions at every point, without using his logical approach in the crime scene.

In my opinion, this book is dissapointing. Let's start from the cover, I felt is too bland as it could've been designed better. It looks really plain & unappealing to the eyes. Even the choice of title is too flimsy, unattractive & poor. It's way too simple & doesn't sound captivating enough.
Anyway, coming to the book at hand. It's a mystery thriller which has psychological aspects embedded at many places. Also, it's a very short read.

The story revolves around Mehra family from Kanta Kunj located in Dwarka, Delhi. It involves the tale of a girl called Ishita Mehra who has been murdered under mysterious circumstances. Even her father Suresh Mehra passed away sometime ago in a car accident. The family is now depressed over the loss of their important members & is totally dependent on their two male children, Ritesh & Pawan respectively. Pawan leaves for abroad to pursue his education. Ritesh quits his studies to take up a job in order to support his family.

Geetu Mehra, the youngest daughter of the household is physically disabled. The case of Ishita's murder is being handled by police Inspector named Rajveer Singhmar from Sardar police station of Dwarka who's determined to solve this mystery. There wasn't much suspense involved in the book to begin with. It was pretty much evident to predict what's about to happen. One could easily decipher it. I couldn't find anything different or unique when it comes to thrillers. We usually see these type of stories in TV shows like 'Savdhan India or Crime Patrol.'

I felt the novel lacks many crucial points. Though, it's poignant from the aspect where where the death of certain family members cripple the entire household. However, from a thriller point of view, it's very weakly fragmented. Domestic tragedy or crime fiction can be portrayed much better as the topic is very touching. Hence, it has to be handled accordingly in a much sophisticated format. The amalgamous references to the core suspense required to weave a gripping tale which will hook us to the novel is entirely missing. It lacks the impact which may leave readers wanting for more as in the case of mystery thrillers. Overall, an okay book to read!

PAPA by Jiganshu Sharma is a crime thriller that is set in Delhi. The story unfolds a serious of events that are creating irrevocable disaster to a family. The story is about a middle-class family living with many ambitions just like the others where many obstacles are being faced by the entire family. The daughter is found dead under mysterious circumstances and the case undergoes a serious investigation where the investigation is taken on as per the point of the officer. Further, the story takes through the sudden demise of the father that forces the brother to drop out of his studies and start working to cope with the situation while the investigation goes forward to find out who was the culprit in the mystery.

The characters are very well detailed and also framed well along with the plot. The narrative includes the various scenes of the past and the present described between various chapters and the author has blended them well with good coordination. The narration is crisp and formed well. However, there are very few grammatical errors found in the book that are still negligible yet. The cover page is simple yet attractive and the title makes a good sense to the story described. To sum up it a very beautifully compiled book with a strong conclusion and the books keep you on grip until its last page. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

The protagonist of the book is Ritesh Mehra, the younger son of the Mehra household. After his father's untimely demise and his elder brother, Pawan, leaving India for higher studies the responsibility of his mother and his two younger sisters, Ishita and Geetu, fell on his shoulders. Braving through the situation he was sailing through life, when his sister Ishita is murdered. The book revolves around the investigation of this murder by Inspector Rajveer Singhmar as he tries to reach the killer and help the departed soul achieve justice.

The plot is quite engaging and kept me turning the pages. The character descriptions were done well which made me connect to them as a reader. The title is also very intriguing which prompts you to read this book. But I found certain issues with the execution of the plot and the limitless editing mistakes relating to tenses and punctuations. The book being in two time frames, it was imperative for the editing to be on point. Another issue was the sexist and judgemental comments made by Rajveer throughout the book, about his wife, her love to cook for him, Delhi and its people. Being a Delhite myself, it was getting a little on my nerves. The end was wrapped up in a hurry though it was unexpected. All in all, I was satisfied with the plot but the execution could have been better to make it a complete package.

The book, Papa by Jiganshu Sharma is one such story, to mess with your mind and keep surprising you. The story has a happy Mehra family, where they eat together and laugh together. The elder son Pawan, then goes abroad for his MBA. Things are slowly falling into places, but then, Suresh Mehra, the father, dies! As a culture in Indian family the elder one takes command into hands and has left his dream to study for a job to fulfill his family needs and support his sister education , family which have happiness and healthy loving environment changed into a gloomy one and mother fall into depression after father death.

But here things doesn't stop Fallin apart , if this was not enough , Ishita Mehra, daughter of the family is found dead after few months of her father's death. I mean author created this story so dark that batman/Spiderman will once think before coming to this universe ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ.

Then this story involves our another main character Rajveer. The cop trying to collect and place all the pices of puzzle. He is passionate about this case as it is his 1st and gave his best to find out the culprit.
Yes ofcourse he finds out culprits! But how? What he did? What he planned and did his planings falled everytime into place? I found answers to these curious questions now it's your turn!
