You just asked Hmm, should I read the Amazon description for this book?
And...here you are…reading the description. So, how did you make this decision? How do you make any decision?
This book reveals the mental pictures. Before you make a decision, you imagine the outcome. If this image feels vivid and pleasant, then you proceed with it. Using this knowledge, you can influence any decision by tweaking those mental pictures.
Imagine Reading This Book exposes a fascinating quirk of the human mind, while offering practical (and unusual) techniques to influence decisions in life and business.
Either I'm missing something here or this is simply just a bunch of words slammed together for no apparent reason. Okay, we as human beings make mental pictures and some things can influence the severity/intensity of said mental images. Great. That's the book. Doesn't take 157 pages to say that? Oh but it does talk about gun control and suicide at the end with references 7 pages long if that interests anyone? References to what I'm not quite sure...
Disclaimer: I love this guy's stuff (his website, videos, articles, etc.)
Fun, informative, practical.
At points he does such a good job of leading the reader (through spreading activation, I imagine...no pun intended) that you feel as if you're creating the ideas on your own or as if you felt them coming before they actually did. It's a really cool experience. And you just know Kolenda's puppeteering the whole thing. Well done, sir!
An engaging and actionable overview of how we can use mental pictures and metaphorical constructs to influence ourselves and others to make better decisions. Nick Kolenda remains one of my favourite authors on practical psychology.
I recommend reading this book to create better habits and to create more abundance. I didn't know what to expect and ended up reading it in a few days because it's so good. I'm thinking about reading another of the authors books.
