In Victorian London, a lovelorn fifty-three-year-old widow discovers she is the muse for a young artist.
Widowed, middle-class, and past her prime, Leonora Aldbury is unwelcome amongst Victorian England’s upper crust and denied the opportunities Society can bring — including romantic attachments. She aches for sensual fulfillment, fantasizing about a young artist who sketches in London’s National Gallery. During a daring encounter, the artist offers Leonora an intriguing invitation. Will she risk respectability for a chance at love?
“The Invitation” is an older woman / younger man, age gap romance short story of 3,946 words set in Regina Kammer’s Victorian Art & Discipline universe. The characters in “The Invitation”, Leonora Aldbury and the artist Jasper Dawson, will be integrated into future Art & Discipline books.
Art & Discipline Beneath prim and proper Victorian society lies a world of unconventional artistic endeavors and sensual pursuits. Book 1: The Westerman Affair Book 1.5 (short story): “The Invitation”
Regina Kammer is a librarian, an art historian, and a multi-published writer of provocative historical romance and contemporary romance with a touch of history. Her short stories and novels make history sexier, whether the era is Roman, Byzantine, Viking, American Revolution, or Victorian. She’s even sexed up contemporary settings, Steampunk, and Greco-Roman mythology. She has been published by Cleis Press, Go Deeper Press, Ellora’s Cave, House of Erotica, Story Ink, Loose Id, The Naughty Literati, and her own imprint, Viridium Press. She began writing historical fiction with romantic elements during National Novel Writing Month 2006, switching to erotica when all her characters suddenly demanded to have sex.
A widow becomes intrigued by a handsome artist and is persuaded to meet with him for what soon turns into a very intimate encounter. This short story is a steamy introduction to a new series set in the Victorian era. It's off to a good start.

The Art and Discipline series Book 1.5 a well written older woman younger man short story. Widowed Leonora Aldbury and young sketch artist Jasper Dawson’s story that I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a short prequel introducing characters to be included in future books. Ms. Kammer is an excellent writer of erotic stories with good plots. If you need "an invitation" to preview the author's writing style, this is a good short read for you.
