H. G. Lynch really out did herself with this chapter of Ember and Reid’s life. A new girl came to school, Liandra and she is after Reid. Ember discovered the green eyed monster of jealousy, betrayal and a whole new meaning of hatred.
Of course the gang couldn’t go without figuring out what is hiding in Onyx Lake. Something is killing innocent boys and when the gang went swimming, something pulled Ember far under the water to drown her, not just once, but a few times. This thing in the lake had it out for Ember and I had an idea who it was and I was right.
Ember and Reid had more than their share of troubles this time around. I couldn’t believe what I was reading! I cried more than once over those two. But the last chapter had me balling and my heart breaking. I’ve come to feel a part of their lives and they were breaking my heart for them. I surely hope that this isn’t the last book for them, because that is no way to end this completely.

I really enjoyed this one. Now, I have to say, I had read the first in the series, Born Dark a long time ago, and have not kept up with the series. I do plan to rectify that and go back to read 2-4 so I can be completely up to speed. Having said that, you don't need to read all the stories to enjoy this one. It would be better because then you catch the references made to action in other stories, but you can figure out the gist as you go along.

Ember and Reid go through so much it is heartbreaking. I'm kinda pissed at Ember because she knows and yet she still doesn't cut him any slack. That is all I'm going to say! You need to read it :)

I really hope there is more, because I hated the ending - in a loved the story kind of way!!

O.M.F.G!!
WOW!!
Seriously, I'm lost for words right now!
So much happens in this book it will have your emotions flipping back and forth over whether to love or hate certain characters or not!
One thing that never changed for me was how I felt towards Acorn Hills newest student. From the moment they were introduced I had a bad feeling about them and I was right!
I swear, I've never hated a character that this author has written as much as I hate this one!!
This was such a brilliantly written story that, just like a sirens song, pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading!!
Absolutely fantastic, action packed, fast paced, rolloercoaster of a read!!
LOVED IT!!!
