Naiomi's heart has broken twice in her life—once when her mother drowned, and again when her best friend Keane moved away in ninth grade.
Only Keane understood Naiomi's grief at losing her mom, and when he left, he took a piece of her heart. When Keane unexpectedly returns after twelfth grade ends, Naiomi's anxiety and overwhelming emotions about their history spill over. If she can just admit her feelings for him, they could be her ticket out of her past memories. Yet as Keane becomes increasingly attentive, making Naiomi more nervous than ever, he puts cracks in her determination to leave their small seaside town. Will she overcome her fears by the end of the summer?
NICOLE BEA writes deep stories to dig into: atmospheric women’s fiction and young adult novels with themes of self-discovery through the power of love. By daylight, she works as a technical writer and project manager for an international medical company, while by starlight, she pens all the stories taking up space in her head.
Nicole and her husband share their home in Eastern Canada with a collection of multi-colored cats, a cupboard stuffed with tea, and a lifetime’s worth of books.
Amazing descriptive writing, this book was incredibly touching to me as a young islander since I live in a Caribbean island, It related to me so much and I felt I was there with the main characters of the book. As a vivid thinker and romance maker, this is a perfect description of a long lost romance and I loved the kissing scenes in it. I suggest that you should read this book if you are into romance novels. Thank you, Nicole, for being such an inspiration by giving young adults like me opportunities to think that I can find the right one for myself

Another heartfelt young adult novel by Nicole that’s left me in such a happy place. The crossroad between love and self that eighteen year old Naiomi finds herself takes her out of her comfort zone and forces her to face the future. She’s put her life on pause, waiting for the courage to step away from the life she’s always known, and wondering about the boy who moved away and took her heart with him. But when that boy comes back to town, Naiomi has to fight through her own anxiety and fears so she doesn’t lose her chance at love. I can still picture the beach and the rain storms, the vibe of the entire town was peaceful and quaint. I feel like I’ve been there and met these people. The turns in the plot were perfect and relatable, the discoveries Naiomi made about herself and her family helped her out all of the pieces in place. I really loved this story! Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good coming of age romance.
It had all the ingredients for a great young-adult romance; young love reunited after 3 years of separation, plot twists when she learns about her parents, long walks on beaches searching for beach glass, summer rainstorms, and lots of sushi. It was such a well-written book that you could almost hear the thunder & smell the coffee.
I really enjoyed this book. The story was engaging and I couldn't wait to read what was going to happen next. The writing was wonderful and the characters were interesting. The story had a few twists that really made you want to keep reading.
