September 15, 2020Oh boy, this novella. I have Thoughts. I went into this without reading the synopsis (as I do for all of Jessa Kane's novellas), and while I was pleasantly surprised that she wrote a romance featuring a fat hero, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why adult romance authors set explicit romance books (intended for adult audiences) in high school. I do believe both characters were 18, but this still was just.... not the move for me.

Apart from being a totally sweet friends to lover’s romance, I adored the role reversal in Hefty. It was refreshing for the hero to be self-conscious in the most endearing kind of way.

Totally oblivious of each other's feelings, Jilly has been in love with her best friend's brother Zach forever. When an opportunity presents itself, Jilly bites the bullet and suggests that they should dabble sexually. And damn was their first dalliance, which happened to be on the school bus, super sexy!

4.5 don’t judge a book by its cover stars- if only it was longer
I’ve read many Jessa Kane books and this now goes to the top of my favorites from her!
Zach is a virgin, and so is Jill. He’s on the football team and she’s a cheerleader. They’re both seniors and have been in each others lives for a long time. Jill‘s best friend is Zach’s sister. Jill is the head cheerleader while Zach is on the football team, a linebacker. This means that he’s a bigger guy, but not necessarily with a lot of fluff, more like thick with muscles and a little bit of fluff. He’s very protective of her, especially when guys talk about her in inappropriate ways. He’s her protector and is willing to guard her against anyone. Jill has been in love with him for years; in fact, one of the reasons why she loves to cheer is because she gets to see him play. And one of the reasons that he’s on the football team is to see her cheer. Kismet 🥰
They’re both virgins and, one day, she brings up exploring with each other, sexually. He agrees and. OH. EM. GEE! 🔥🥵😅 💦. They might be virgins, but smexy times are 🤤🔥🥵😅💦. Jeeezus! I loved this so much! Definitely Jessa Kane's best work. Honestly, if it was a little longer and more developed I would have probably given it a full 5 stars. If you're looking for a fast, steamy and super sweet friends to lovers/best friend's brother story I HIGHLY recommend!

BUT i beg you to just look past that and anticipate the ✨cuteness + steaminess✨ that’s overloading inside this novella.
y’all already know i love me some pining and the fact that it was mutual between the two main characters made everything all the better and much sweeter ✨💓😫 i swear my stomach was fluttering and aching for them both every time i read their inner monologues. Don’t even ask how many times i squealed or screeched over the cuteness.
WE NEED MORE BODY POSITIVITY FOR MEN IN ROMANCE BOOKS BECAUSE WOW. *chef’s kiss* I love you, Jessa Kane for giving men like Zach the spotlight 🥺 I’m sure they’ll appreciate it so much.

This was the first JK book I've read that wasn't absolutely ridiculous and I wasn't wondering in the back of my mind if it was playing a joke on me. It was relatively.... normal 💀
And on one hand,
What the fuck Jessa Kane I thought we had an understanding 🤡🤡🤡 I come to you to feel like I've taken a hit of drugs and can't process my environment anymore bc of all the absurdity going on
But on the other hand,
This was freaking adorable! 🤯 I mean I always enjoy JK novellas but I pretty much treat them like their own species. Less abt quality and more about absolutely fucking. me. up. on the wtf-am-i-even-reading scale so she's breaking the mold for me rn. These two were cute af and actually had me in my feels! Jill was a fully fleshed out character and unlike the other JK heroines I've read, she didn't have the personality of a newborn baby taking its first breaths in the world, which I very much appreciated. And Zach is so sweet we need more heroes like him!!
Get it Jill!! I'm glad this book did still have some JK wackiness. At one point the heroine gets hit by a car that's for some reason drag racing in a school parking lot bc why the fuck not and also Zach has pictures of Jill taped to his mirror, steals articles of clothing from her and saves them to jack off onto, and at one point admitted that when she was at his house having a sleepover w his sister, he went into the living room where she was sleeping, pulled up her nightgown and then jacked off to her panties. So.............
Notice how I'm labeling light stalking and a sexual harassment crime as 'wackiness🤪.' Yeah I don't know how I got to this point either. But honestly I still found it relatively tame for this author 🤷🏽♀️ All in all I think this is her best work out of the ones I've read.

Hefty was exactly what I was hoping for: light, cute and so sexy. While there are a lot of things I'd be angry about in any other romance -I mean, their first time... are you kidding me?-, I was fine because it was ridiculous in the most fantasized way.
Head cheerleader, gorgeous and kind, everyone thinks Jilly will end up going to homecoming with the most popular boy in the school. But Jilly knows exactly what she wants: big, bulky Zach, her best friend's brother and the sexiest man alive.
Zach has been in love with Jilly forever, but he knows pretty Jilly in way out of his league. So he protects her knowing they will never be together. Until Jilly decides she wants to experience... and she chooses him. Can he seize the opportunity? Will it be worth his broken heart when Jilly gets bored of him?
My favourite part? Zach is a guy who doesn't need a 8-pack, broad shoulders and tiny waist -like 99.9% of the heroes in MF romance- to be sexy. Let alone the fact that half of them don’t go to the gym because it’s genetics. I’m tired of it and I’m a girl, I can’t imagine how tired male romance readers must be. Diversity is good, thank you so much!

Just reread this book. Loved it all over again. Confused it a little bit with another big guy snarky girl book (even tho the girl here is actually kinda adorable vs snarky). But still love both.
This is one of those rare Jessa Kane books that has everything. Not just sex. Her writing is usually good, but this one has some innocence to it. Even with a dirty talking mouth, Zach has such a pure, noble, good quality that I ADORE in heroes of romances. Loved him to pieces. And how crazy Jilly Beans was about her Zach made me like her very much.

The pretty blond cheerleader was not annoying. The husky giant quarterback was awesome. What's not to love?
Well, you do have to ignore the fact that:
1) they're both virgins yet seem to know how to dirty talk better than experienced sex-perts
2) it's her first time and she takes it against a wall while he's a "giant" in that area and somehow doesn't walk funny for weeks after and STILL manages to orgasm... hmmm
3) no birth control or protection was talked of and they just stuff themselves silly with all kinds of fluids, and no mentions of pregnancies either...
Ignoring all that, it's PERFECT, and I was happy to suspend belief.
Checking more of this author's books out. This little gem packed a punch!

A simple, sometimes funny, tale of two horny and lovesick high school virgins who proceed to get it on like experienced porn stars and live happily ever after.
We go from this:

About 15-or-so years ago (😱 I'm old) I dated this guy named Douglas. He was this hulking swarthy mammoth of a dude, and I was a bit obsessed with him physically. Our relationship didn't last too long, but I still consider Douglas to be one of the hottest men I've ever had the pleasure of being with. He didn't ever agree with me about that.
So, yeah. I have a seriously soft spot in my heart for Zach, here. I adore big guys, and it was so sweet and refreshing to read a story about one. I don't particularly care for reading about high schoolers, but at least these kids actually acted their age, for the most part. Their hesitation, confusion, and excitement were all pretty true to form.
I would have liked for this to be longer, their courting stretched out a bit. But for such a short read, this was very sweet and entertaining. I'm gonna look for more by Jessa Kane because I really liked her style.

This was pretty fast pace and another Husky guy with some insecure issues.
Zach and Jill both have been pinning after one another but never making that move, until Jill ask Zach to explore sex with her its a little rocky at first but they do explore together. But few misunderstanding happen that make Jill think Zach doesn't see her in that light. It takes Zach a second to understand when she pulls away from him. Now he has to get his girl back.
