Crystal Cloud

Rate this book
After the initial shock of the world's water awakening, humanity comes together to put measures in place to ease adverse climate changes. The oceans are dying and the fresh water resources are being harvested too fast to allow replenishment.

Cherry Mortinger, the limnologist behind Hayyin's enigmatic identity, works on creating a universal language for water, while Ilanda Mazandir, the neurosurgeon that successfully healed a comatose patient using crystal implants in the eyes, fights to protect her technology from being misused.

Unknown to the masses, but attracted by its novelty, the crystal implants open up unexplored areas of the brain, bordering on telepathy and increased consciousness. A crystal cloud network is the next step in connecting the world in a much more considerate and empathic way.

Crystal Cloud, the sequel to Water Entanglement, is a work of eco-fiction bringing to the forefront water's ability to heal us when treated with reverence and hurt us when treated with ignorance and disrespect so prevalent in our society.

You will never think about water the same after reading Crystal Cloud. As a sequel to Water Entanglement I found this second book even more fascinating. Written in a future time when resources of water are scarce and water is rationed, the reader sees how difficult this would be if you couldn't take a shower or have a cup of morning coffee because you exceeded your daily water quota. This may seem like science fiction with so much water surrounding us, but the Earth is 97 percent seawater, impossible for consumption because it contains salt. That leaves us with only 3 percent, used for our increasing world population, and the growing needs of agriculture. Murgan's book is a work of eco-fiction, science fiction, mystery, ethics, medicine, technology and spirituality all rolled into one intelligent and intriguing read. A prominent water activist and Hawaiian spiritual leader Kahuna Lapa'au is injured so badly in an explosion staged by radicals at a Water For all Conference in Toronto, that he is comatose. Neurosurgeon Dr.Llanda Mazandir brings him back to life by implanting a crystal in his brain, which is activated using structured water, elevated in frequency by chanting monks. Not only is Kahuna healed, the surgery enhances all his abilities giving him super powers we all dream of. If we develop the technology through the interaction of pure water and crystals to upgrade humanity, is this something that should be available to everyone? Would it become something only the wealthy could afford? Or are these higher levels of consciousness not meant to be tampered with at all? Murgan's second novel is a delightful page turner, leaving you in great anticipation for the sequel.
