Homo Divinitas

Rate this book
Desire, Love, Secrets and Mysteries… Homo Divinitas concludes the story of the startling return of Greek gods to the modern world. This stand-alone novel completes The Winnowing trilogy about ancient deities who prove to be anything but mythological. They appear in our world with hauteur and bold plans.

In Homo Divinitas, the original Olympic gods are joined by the Great Goddess, who is far older and more powerful. She emerges onto the world stage as a sensational young fashion model, then parlays her celebrity to address the gaping divide between Homo sapiens and what she calls Homo divinitas--the immortal branch of the Homo species.

Woven throughout the novel are two love stories. In a cameo role, Gaia, the ancient mother of all life, arrives in a New York City hotel as a nine-year old girl. Intrigue, sensuality and outright roguery drive the relentless female-centric action.

A poignant and fascinating tale if Greek tragedy and destiny, set in the modern world of today.

A remarkable novel that examines what happens when the ancient Greek gods arrive on earth here in modern times. Times, a former nymph now a transformed version of the ancient Great Goddess, was transformed into the most powerful of goddesses by Gaia, now resides in this era in a luxurious home on one of the Greek islands. She has become a celebrity model and enjoys the company of her lover, Io, and a host of nymphs. However, she is not the only god living in this time and the affairs of the gods will play out in a tragedy, together with the events in the human world. All-powerful, and omniscient, Gaia, the earth mother, still presides over nature and the affairs of humans and the gods and goddesses. Depicting near-immortal beings, with fantastic powers and erratic morals, the author gives a fascinating glimpse into the minds of these beings and their interactions with humans today. This is an emotionally rich and almost poignant tale mixed with eroticism and twists in a captivating plot. As unlikely as it appears to us in this present era that the gods are real beings, the author conveys an eerie sense of realism and ancient tragedy that is merged with the modern world in a captivating and absorbing novel.

As the last installment in the trilogy, Patrick Garner has certainly written a compelling book in Homo Divinitas: Greek Goddesses, Modern Love (Winnowing Trilogy Book 3). In keeping with the first two books, here we find gods and goddesses infiltrating modern life in the most unexpected and delightful ways. It is evident the author knows history and mythology, so wonderfully captured in this story. A new goddess Timessa is in the world now, and interested in making some changes to the modern world. Within the story line filled with romance, morality and beauty, there is an undercurrent of spiritual development that supports and gives credence and substance to the plot. Truly a provocative book, one that fully entertains and captures the imagination. Highly recommend for a different kind of read.

This is the third and final book in the Greek Goddesses series about love, passion and coping with life in the modern world. In a mash-up of powerful deities, Olympic gods and now the Great Goddess, the originator of all. Through machinations, the great Goddess enacts her plans for mortals and gods alike, with wide sweeping consequences. Meanwhile, Gaia is reincarnated as a young 9-year-old girl in New York City and is as mischievous as ever. The love stories that bloom are sensual and emotional tales that even in happiness, carry some tragedy with them.
A very touching finish to the trilogy, and well executed at that. The blending of god mythology, be it Greek or pagan (Gaia), was very well done and I enjoyed the intricacies of the love stories within this book. This is a good book for a rainy day, as it is lighthearted and not very deep.

I have always been fascinated by Greek mythology so when I saw Homo Divinitas (The Winnowing Book 3) by Patrick Garner, I got it immediately. However, when I started reading, I realized that the story was not fully about Greek history nor its everyday life. The tale is about a goddess in our days. It's a mixture of mythology and the present times. Romance is present as well as intrigued and a slide of eroticism. The themes are so well combined that the result is a great story full of different moments in which the reader never gets bored. Just the contrary, I wanted to read more and more every time. I was caught by Garner's writing from the very beginning. Events are so beautifully described that it felt like undergoing a gentle and intense path. I really liked the story and I will get the previous books to complete the trilogy for sure.

I was captured from the very first moment by this beautiful story. Two weeks ago, I started reading Homo Divinitas (The Winnowing Book 3), and I literally couldn’t put the book down, until the satisfying ending.

Patrick Garner has done an amazing job with the incredible writing of this story. The plot of this book is very original, and the author has built an imaginary and extraordinary world where Greek Gods return to the modern world.

Although I haven’t read the previews books of this series, I believe that I could understand the story perfectly and I didn’t miss any important details of the story.

The part I enjoyed the most were the two beautiful love stories and the descriptions included in this story. I recommend this great book to anyone who enjoys exceptional writings like me!

Homo Divinitas: Greek Goddesses, Modern Love is the last in Patrick C Garner's The Winnowing series. Greek mythology mingles in our modern world as the Great Goddess has evolved with many of her thoughts and powers in Timessa. She is a world renowned model that has secluded herself and her troupe to a remote area. A half-crazed demi-god has escaped and is making his way to Timessa's area. Can she protect the girls under her protection?

I found Homo Divinias: Greek Goddesses, Modern Love interesting as it brought Greek mythology to life. The plot holds all the mystery and thrill you would expect from ancient myths, but I felt the telling of the story was too slow. This novel is a good read, but I felt it missed the ecstasy you would expect.

A book that talks about daities and Greek gods, Patrick Garner's Homo Divinitas is the kind of book that I would never say no to, because I simply love Greek mythology. Everything that has something to do with it pulls my interest in. In this book we are introduced to characters that are divinely powerful and extraordinary including the Great Goddess herself who is a fashion model.

I loved that there was a romance in this book. For me it makes the whole story more interesting. Plus, what I thought would be a heavy book to read was just an easy, light read which is great. The only thing was that sometimes I had trouble following the story and its detailes, perhaps it's because I was not able to read the first installments. However, it was still a very good read and I enjoyed it a lot.

First of all, YAY for a standalone novel that can be appreciated without necessarily needing to read the rest of the series. So many authors seem caught up with the trend of creating multi-volume works that the compactness and intensity a stand-alone novel can create often gets lost. Garner tells the story of a contemporary world where Greek gods come to live as though this were the most normal thing in the world… The concept is intriguing, and Garner plays with all sorts of different ways that Greek gods manifest themselves in our world, and the challenges they face. Not surprisingly, considering the stories from Greek mythology, their lives are full of drama, passion, and lust – something which the author portrays well.

Homo Divinitas is a stand-alone novel and the third book in the Naxos Quartet series. More like an educational and mythology book, this reading will tell you all about the primal Great Goddess and their greatest love stories as if they were in our modern world.

We read about the beautiful goddesses and how their life living on this Earth among humans. We see them be practical and logical and catch up with the symptoms of human emotions.

As a fan of greek mythology, I enjoyed reading this book and learning more about these famous women that ruled the Greeks, Aphrodite my bow and arrow girl is my favorite tho. Would recommend!

I’ve read the previous books of this series and I’ve to say that I enjoyed them immensely. In this third installment, the ancient Greek Gods are present in the Earth with the contemporary life style. I found this mix between both worlds to be magnificent and full of suspense.
It held my interest from the first page to the end. I don’t want to be more specific and give away the plot. However, to be honest, the author is an artist and his ideas are so brilliant that everyone will feel caught up in this story which comes alive.
The very well developed descriptions make this an extremely worthy read, particularly to those who enjoy Greek mythology as I do.

“Homo Divinitas: Greek Goddesses, Modern Love” is the third book in the spectacular and original series “The Naxos Quartet” written by Patrick Garner. This contemporary fiction series contains a very interesting plot regarding Greek mythology and its influence on our times.
The existence of the Olympic gods in the contemporary world was intended to correct the balance of nature. This combined with great love stories make this novel a fascinating read.
Without a doubt, I recommend it. It is an ideal reading to incorporate into daily readings or rest readings as it is light and easy to understand.
At home, we have enjoyed these first three books and we await the final installment.

Redemption - even for Gods

It seems that even the Gods can learn and progress, suffer or find happiness or love. And even discover purpose, which it seems might be necessary if time has little meaning. This was a delightful book, in a series of the same nature. I enjoyed reading and thinking about them all.
