A Time for Love: A Realistic Discussion of the Most Explosive Force in Human Life

Rate this book
I am writing this book in hopes that it will help men who have lost their way to find it again in friendship and love...Everywhere I go, I see lonely people who, even though they cannot put their longing into words, are still hoping for some experience of love and understanding that will give them the strength to face life with a little more courage...People really are not looking for somebody with all the answers for life's riddles; they are quite prepared to live with mystery when the sustaining power of love is present...They can accept the seeming unfairness of life, with all its pains and disappointments, when they have been touched by love, and when they have learned that sharing love and friendship is what holds life together...

When you have experienced real love you know that it does not come in any ideal state, that it is marked with pain as well as joy and that, if you are serious about it, you have to keep growing in it and working at it.

One can never run out of time for love. Love is endless. Love is eternal. Jesus left us with this new commandment: "Love one another, as I have loved you."

What is this thing called love? St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians tells us that: "Love is patient, love is kind, is not jealous, does not boast." 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8.

Eugene Kennedy breaks this down chapter by chapter and leaves us with the ultimate challenge to love as Jesus did and asks of us.

How does one start or continue to grow in love? That's a decision one makes everyday and in every situation.

Trust, acceptance, faithfulness, strong words and if taken seriously will make one vulnerable, will open old wounds but this is the path to health and wholeness. A richer potential self ready to be born. A life lived in the Spirit of God shared with all.

I and thou leading to a third person, God.

In the movie Casablanca the story is filled with emotions of love, hate, hurt, disappointments and redemption. Genuine love comes after much soul searching for Rick played by Humphrey Bogart but in the end love rules and two people resist the forces of selfish love and produce a third love, the love of doing what's best for all concerned.

Love needs time to grow and develop. Real love cannot take root unless it has time to do it. There is great wisdom in waiting patiently, trusting the process of genuine love. Timeless is love's destiny.
