Newly (almost) divorced from my lazy High School sweetheart, I flee to Nashville, Tennessee to forge my own path in life. With the help of my girls, Guinevere and December, I'm happy, I'm thriving but there's one little problem. Okay more of a big problem. Thoren Black, aka Thor. Yes, he's blonde haired, blue eyed gorgeousness. Yes, he has muscles so big they can crack a walnut and yes his...ego matches.
My problem? That lazy High School sweetheart won't sign our divorce papers so the new thor-n in my side thinks he can solve it. He puts a big ring on my finger, claiming me for the whole town and forcing my ex’s hand. Does he stop at that? No. He moves into my house, takes over my kitchen and demands a space in my bed, and I let him because that was the agreement. He's pushing all my buttons, breaking past all my excuses of why this would never be able to work out for real. I never experienced this...happiness, not Until Thor….
Feisty. Blonde. Sexy.
I knew the second she threw an eight ball at my head I was going to have her. Husband, shmusband. I don't think with my head when I suggest the fake fiance act, at least not that head, but Jolie Palmer has got me all tangled up and I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like it. Now to convince her that ring on her finger should stay.
Until Thor is part of Aurora Rose Reynolds's Happily Ever Alpha World. If you loved Until December, then you will want to read Until Thor.
I actually stopped reading at 6%. This portrayal of Thor is not an ARR worthy hero. Just his first encounter with the heroine made him out to be a douche and way too crude.
Dnf 6% no rating. I’m bailing on this one. The whole set up has made me not respect the heroine and think the hero is a serious douche. No thanks. Next. I haven’t liked any of these HEAW books, they are all just terrible. I haven’t read any of the AAR ones though but meh, not a big fan of hers either.
DNF. I was enjoying this... to a degree... then his man-whorish tendencies started to reveal themselves... I don't like 'em... automatic DNF for me. Don't get how he could possibly be related to Gareth... one of the most straight-forward decent men in the 'Until' universe.
Some of the entries into ARR's HEA World makes me wonder if she actually reads them... cos some of them really don't feel like they do. There is no recognisable voice. For example, put this one against 'Until Selma'... the latter fits, makes sense... feels familiar. The former? Not at all... not one little bit.
If you like a woman with no self respect who thinks with her vagina and an idiot and incredibly assh… without redemption, this is your book, This is one of the few books I didn’t finish but I just don’t understand how a doctor woman or any woman can stand with that behavior on a man… I read only until he explains his friends in front of her their first time together in a mocking and offensive way, Nothing romantic here for me, Sorry…
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am definitely disappointed this wasn’t what I thought it would be. This hero just wasn’t the hero we typically get in an “Until HEA”. I admit I stopped reading at about 25% because I couldn’t take it anymore. He teases the heroine because she is on the cusp of a divorce and she doesn’t want more than one night, but he says he wants more than that. That was obviously not true because when she gives in and they do get together he leaves and ditches her before she even wakes up. There was way too much of him being a jerk and her going back for more. I also couldn’t stand the heroine talking like a 20 year old frat guy. This is supposed to be a hard working highly educated successful doctor and she talked like she was the hero’s brother or friend. I don’t care if there is bad language but the constant cussing and crude comments from the heroine stopped any respect I might have for her had I kept reading. In the end this guy didn’t give any indication he wanted anything real with the heroine. He texted an easy hook up after being with the heroine the first time. He admits he doesn’t want kids but will give her one with child support only if it means it will get her ex to sign divorce papers. And Oh yeah, their first meeting he hits her car and tears the side mirror off while driving in his car and doesn’t even stop to own up to it. Ugh This was the least BOOM I have felt reading anything in this series.
DNF. I didn't get very far. The heroine is married. Her husband is drunk, watching footie with his mates, he's lazy etc etc. She picks that time to talk about their issues. I'm not agreeing with his behaviour but there was no way she was going to have a serious conversation with him about the future with him in that state. It just wasn't for me.
This book was awful! The h was weak. She was complete doormat material who didn’t learn her lesson from thing 1 to thing 2. The H was gross. He was a man-ho, and talked like a pathetic frat boy. Authors, it is NOT romantic or sexy for an H to continually brag about what he has done to other women. No Boom, just blah and yuck.
Dnf I'm sorry, I just can't, their first, second and third meeting were terrible. I hated the things he said to her, isn't she supposed to be his boom, I hated him. Granted I didn't get into the book at all but he missed me off so fast I don't want to waste my time.
I haven’t read this author’s work before but she wrote this as part of the spin off from the Until series by Aurora Rose Reynolds, which I adore. It seems that this spin off series is not working out so well for me. They just keep missing the mark. No one is coming close to ARR.
I wasn’t keen on either main character in this novel. Thor (36) is the cousin of Gareth from Until December & is a huge player in town. He doesn’t date , just sleeps with women at their houses or hotels , never his place. Everyone loves him and there were parts of his character that were likeable. I couldn’t connect with Jolie at all. She’s 26 , a gynaecologist and has left her lazy husband and is in the throes of divorce. They have a lot of push and pull within their fake relationship as to whether it could be real. Lots of sex. A couple of interesting secondary characters besides December and Gareth.
I really wanted to like this. But Thor is just.. no.
He is an asshole, and I actually thought that he was the duchebag who would hit on the heroine, before the hero would come to the rescue, but no.
The duchebag was Thor, and he stayed that way. I didn't feel any chemistry, and didn't understand why she got so hung up on him so fast?
He redeemed himself a little at the very end, but I think it had more to do with, how you got used to him, and just wants to know how it ends, and even that took me a few tries because I had to put the book away a few times because I got so frustrated with Jolie.
So if you are looking for a book with no sense but a lot of sex, then this is for you. But if you get turned off by a giant manslut, who plays games, and (for the last time) is a huge asshole. Then this book is not for you.
This book was pretty hard to get into at first. The heroine is a foul mouthed obstetrician with ex issues and the hero is an equally fouled mouths man 'ho that runs his mouth too much. The story went from a banter-fest to a kinda angsty story about two people who cared about each other, but struggled in their ability to compromise and give the other what they need. I sincerely ended up liking both of them and their story.
I liked the story. I just felt like there was too much extra filler. And something I never would have imagined me saying but there was too much sex. I needed them to adult a little more and use their words. The back and forth in their inner monologues got too much. Put your pants on and tell them what your feeling FFS.
Cute epilogue and I did actually like both characters I just felt like it dragged out the same issues that weren't really issues and the actual issues were dealt with normally and quickly.
I should’ve stopped after the the first few percent as dude was a douche (coined from another reviewer). His douchery got marginally better but I couldn’t take it anymore after 31%
I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't. The story was, at times, confusing. I kept putting this book down and it took a lot of effort to just finish it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK it is very rare that I don't finish a book but there ...
I held up until around 22% but the announcement of the "false engagement" was the last straw that broke the camel's back ! The story had potential but the characters were so AWFUL : the hero was childish AND so disrespectful (not to mention their first meeting, that scene at the restaurant where he exclaims that she only had one c*ke in her life ... SERIOUSLY ???) and the heroine who overreacts all the time and has only two sides : angry or sexually aroused (their first meeting ... WTF ??? and the way she accepts to be treated by the hero ...)
In short, I read the last two chapters which confirmed the fact that life is too short for this kind of books ><
Jolie is going through a divorce from the only person she has ever been with, she has moved to a new city and now she has Thor to deal with. Thor is Thor, I don’t even know if there are words to describe him. He does have a caring side and can be funny, at times.
Thor takes some getting used to, he comes across as a jerk in the beginning and as a player, but as the story continues he does somewhat redeem himself and there is more to him than what meets the eye. Jolie is just trying to find herself again and also get divorced from her ex. They are kind of forced to start spending time together thanks to their group of friends, but there is something between them and that continues.
Thor comes up with a plan to help Jolie and pretty much keep her in his life. However, they both really want different things in life. Thor doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t do babies and Jolie wants a family and though she isn’t necessarily looking for a relationship while going through a divorce she is the relationship type.
Jolie and Thor are opposites of each other, but there is just something about them that kind of works. They balance each other out. After you get to know more about these two characters you can’t help but root for them and want them to both find happiness.
If you’re looking for a fake relationship, age gap, opposites attract romance this is one to check out.
He's cocky, huge, hot, and unfortunately everything he brags he is. Love-hate, is a kind of love they say. She didn't want to love him. She didn't even like him—however--he did have certain talents. He wasn't exaggerating. Then there were moments...he was so much more than he gave himself credit for.
Compared to the lazy jerk she'd wasted too many years being married to. She's ready to move on but he won't sign their divorce. Why would he care now except maybe he'd have to pay his own rent and bills? Thor's idea to have a fake engagement might help but she wasn't sure.
He didn't do relationships. He sure didn't do kids or ever consider having them. But Jolie, oh, yeah! He'd have her no matter what it took. She was so much more than a one-night stand. He felt differently for her. He'd do whatever it took to make her happy—well, almost anything. What she wanted most he just couldn't do.
Their feelings run hot and hotter. Still what she'd left her husband for was a deal-breaker and Thor may act like he cares. He will never give her what she wants. Their friends and family are all for the two of them. They have a lot to keep them together—enough steam to power NY city. He shows caring for her and their families even the kids. Is there any way for them to be together? Although there were times I'd like to have an eight-ball to throw at him, I love the characters. Overall, I loved them both and all of the characters old and new. While some characters are from other books in the series they are introduced flawlessly in this new story.
A funny, steamy, touching winner not to be missed. Reviewed for Words Turn me On
Until Thor by Nicole Rodrigues is part of the Happily Ever Alpha World published by Boomfactory, and it was just what the doctor ordered!
Jolie and Thor are a true delight!
Jolie is a firecracker, and she wants her life back, on her terms, and it is beautiful to watch her, spine of steel and all, giving as good as she gets, not backing down, and owning whatever it is that she wishes to own, including her femininity and desire.
Thor is hilarious, pulling out all the stops, unapologetic in saying what he wants to say, going after what he wants. It's refreshing, is charming, it'll make you grin.
This story is HOT, is sizzling, is full of sass and snark, and chemistry that you cannot deny! It has poignant moments of intimacy and vulnerability, liberally mixed in with dirty talk that'll have you fanning yourself!
You get to see familiar faces, see how really family and friends love and support one another, and all along the way you're cheering for a story that'll keep you engaged and hungry for each and every moment! So get ready, and experience the BOOM!
I needed Thor’s story after reading about him in Kingston’s book. Nicole Rodrigues absolutely nails this book.
After realizing her marriage is going nowhere, Jolie gets the hell outta dodge and moves to Tennessee. Thor is relationship shy after seeing the BS his brother went through. After Jolie literally knocks the wind out of him, Thor can’t get her out of his mind….BOOM!
I freakin love Thor! I love his dirty talking mouth and the hilarious banter between him and Jolie. Their meeting was such a laugh out loud moment and totally set the stage for the rest of their relationship.
This is a fantastic addition to the Happily Ever Alpha World and one you don’t really want to miss.
I was so excited to read Thor and Jolie's book after I read about them in Until Kingston and this story did not disappoint!!! I love Thor!! He is a big lovable teddy bear that thinks he is set in his ways until Jolie comes into his life.
Jolie is trying to move on with her life. She finally left her loser ex-husband and moved to Tennessee to be with her best friend. Then she meets Thor after he side swaps her car and she tracks him down and throws an 8 ball at him. Oh, and Thor is also the brother of the guy her best friend is trying to not fall in love with. Jolie's ex-husband shows up and refuses to sign the divorce papers, this is when Thor announces they are engaged to get her ex to sign the papers. Now they are faked engaged without trying to fall in love with each other.
I really enjoyed this book. Jolie and Thor went from hating each other, to tolerating each other, to it just being sex, to being fake engaged, to being oh crap I love him. Jolie is the perfect woman for Thor, she doesn't put up with his crap and keeps him accountable. She might be tiny, but she is not afraid to speak her mind! Go Girl! It is a slow build for them realizing that they have feelings for each other. Yes, the sex is mind blowing and they have a ton of it, but pretty soon they are enjoying the little things about each other. I love how Jolie stood up for herself and did not settle just to be with Thor, she knew what she wanted. Thor and Jolie are polar opposites, but that is what makes them work. (He's soooo big and she is sooo tiny lol). Jolie is the perfect type of woman that Thor needs.
This book will make you feel all the feels. You will laugh at their banter, swoon at their romance, and cry when life gets rough.
This is Thor and Jolie's story and I was so excited to read it as we are introduced to the characters in UNTIL KINGSTON. Kingston and Thor both run at the same time, so some of the same events happen in both books, they just at from different characters POV.
The story starts in Georgia, 2 months before as we meet Jolie Palmer who is 26 and a OB Nurse who is still training. She is married to Richard, who is a jerk and who she has been with for over ten years but he just uses her for her money and so her best friend Guinevere convinces her to dump him and move to Tennessee and work as an new OB doctor there and so the story really gets started 2 months later after moving and dumping her ex.
The story kicks off a few weeks later after the night that Guinevere goes home with Kingston from the bar in Until Kingston and its where she ends up meeting Thor and its definitely a very fun first meet. I am not spoiling it but we get to see bad ass Jolie and Thor is entranced lets just say.
Essentially Thor is a very rough around the edges guy and Jolie meets him and they both are beyond attracted. This book is VERY HOT with lots of hot scenes. But these two also fake an engagement to try and get her ex to divorce her and so Thor can adopt a teenager.
Thor is ten years older than Jolie, and she is 26 and she really, really wants a family, especially a baby. And well to some degree Thor is a Man-Child and babies freak him out. He is very humorous in this story. I adored how his mind worked. It gave me lotsa of laughs.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"Until Us: Thor" ist der zwölfte Teil der "Until Us" Reihe, einen Spinn-Off der "Mayson-Familie". Normalerweise kann jeder Teil vollkommen unabhängig voneinander gelesen werden, jede Geschichte ist abgeschlossen, aber besonders "Kingston" und "Thors" Geschichte gehören zusammen und sollten für das perfekte Lesevergnügen der Reihe nach gelesen werden.
Nachdem "Kingston" das erste Buch aus diesem Universum für mich gewesen ist und ich seinen Bruder Thor und auch Jolie dort schon ein wenig kennenlernen durfte, war ich auf seine Geschichte schon total gespannt. Ich habe mit dem Lesen abends den Tag ausklingen lassen und war ab der ersten Sekunde an das Buch gefesselt. Ich konnte es kaum wieder aus der Hand legen. Als mir dann doch einmal die Augen zugefallen sind, hatte ich schon 2/3 davon geschafft. Den Rest konnte ich schnell am nächsten Tag beenden.
Thor ist wirklich der Hammer 😂😂🙈. Aber wenn er das mit mir gemacht hätte, was er ein paarmal mit Jolie abgezogen hat... ich hätte ihn gegrillt... Und dann noch dieses ständige hin und her... Oh man, das ging mir doch ein wenig auf die Nerven. Jolie tat mir da wirklich sehr leid. Aber er hat ja doch noch rechtzeitig die Kurve bekommen.
Der Schreibstil hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Er ist flüssig und so mitreißend. Was für tolle Brüder 😍😍. Dankeschön das ich es lesen durfte.
Jolie braucht nach der Trennung von ihrem Mann dringend einen Neuanfang und zieht in die Nähe ihrer besten Freundin. Als sie und Thoren das erste Mal aufeinander treffen ist es als wenn Feuer und Feuer sich treffen. Eigentlich weiß er sofort das sie zu ihr gehört, doch es fehlt ihm der Mut es sich auch einzugestehen...
Jolie moves to Nashville, Tennessee in order to start over after leaving her good-for-nothing husband. She is newly graduated with a degree in OB-GYN and wants to focus everything on building up a client base and rebuilding her life post-ex. Everything is going along well until a huge, blond haired, blue eyed maniac takes out the side mirror on her new Benz. After a minor incident with an 8-ball in a bar, the oaf seizes her car and decides to hold it hostage! All she has to do to get it back is go on a date with him.
Their love/hate relationship takes an even stranger turn when Jolie’s ex shows up demanding a reconciliation. Thor, the gorgeous oaf that seems to be everywhere, comes up with a ridiculous plan to pretend to be engaged with Jolie, thinking that will make him back off. As the plan spirals out of control both realize that this might be more than a multi-night stand. This might actually be more than either was bargaining for!
Jolie and Thor have major chemistry. I mean, there are some scorching scenes between the two of them. I love how strong and independent Jolie is and that Thor is all for that. My only issue was how much they fought the attraction. I felt like they could have given in a little sooner and it would have been a little more credible to me. I honestly loved every other aspect of this story. It made me cry. The only thing that pulled me out of the story was the constant bickering. Otherwise this would have been an absolute 5 star.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Jolie Palmer and Thoren "Thor" Black. When these two meet it is all fire and explosions. You see without paying attention while riding his bike Thor sideswiped Jolie and took out her mirror. Not only did he take out her mirror he just rode off when he was done like he hadn't a care in the world. Well Jolie isn't take that sitting down and follows him. When he get to the bar she grabs the first thing at her disposal an 8 ball off a pool table throwing it at him and hitting his ribs. Thor can't believe what this chick has done to him but he is determined to see more of her. So he bugs her until she lets him take her to work (on said bike) and pick her up. When a night of fun turns in to the man Jolie can't wait to make her ex on her doorstep, something happens between these two. Thor agrees to play Jolie's fake fiancé until she can get the ex off her back and Jolie well she guess she gets Thor. Oh and to add more fun to the mix her best friend is living with his brother. Can these two have a HEA or will the drama of it all just become way to much?
So so amazing. These characters really draw you in and you don't want to let go of them even when you read those 2 words "the end". I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
When your husband will not give you the divorce that you want, what can you do? Well, you could start a fake relationship with a fake fiance.
Jolie moves to Nashville to get away from her lazy hubby that she is trying to divorce. She wants to start her life and was not looking for a relationship until some jer knocks her mirror off her car and leaves. Jolie decides to follow this jerk and give him hell for what he did. This starts a sexual tension filled so-called relationship between Thor, the jerk, and Jolie. Can she get past his arrogance and let him help her get rid of her hubby that she wants to be an ex?
Thor is an arrogant, self-righteous but handsome and hot look man that gets under Jolie's skin. He is a biker, owns a bike shop and never wants to be with the same woman twice but that changes when he meets Jolie. For some reason, he is infatuated with her and gets her to agree to an outrageous idea of a fack relationship. Will he change his ways for her? Will this idea of a fake relationship turn into something more?
I did enjoy the story but the arrogance of Thor did turn me off. It was his carrying of Devon, and wanting to be a foster parent that turned my opinion around of him. The way that he treated Jolie was in no way loving or making this story a romance.
This goes against everything I loved about the Until series. I am baffled as to how this book became a part of this beloved series. There was no BOOM! There is not much to write home about Thor. He is an adolescent in a man's body. Every comment out of his mouth was so crude. I didn't understand his appeal at all. As for Jolie she was a big joke. She was so desperate for him to love her that she put up with the crap he gave her daily. This book wasn't about them building something it was sex, sex and more sex. It just got boring and I skipped it just to get through it. When an author doesn't even try to build a story line around the characters its just not worth the read. Jolie became a doormat who would lie down and let him walk all over her as long as she was getting some. Every time she tried to have a series conversation with him he would turn it around with sex. At one point it grossed me out when they are having sex and she describes it as him spitting on her....excuse me???? That could have been worded better to not make it sound as disgusting as it did. The only redeeming thing about Thor was what he did for Devon, makes you scared though what he is teaching him on how to treat a woman. He sure doesn't live up to what he expects from him. This book was a struggle to finish, I just wasn't invested after so much bullshit from both of them.
OMG THOR!!!!! I usually never claim book boyfriends but I'm claiming Thor.
This book was so good and I loved every page of it. Honestly from page one I was glued to my kindle and couldn't stop reading.
After Jolie is trying to build her life back after a very unhappy marriage , she finds her self in a new town, with a new job and a new man that is driving her completely crazy aka "Thor". From their very first interaction I was completely enthralled and wondering how their relationship was going to be and let me tell you that Nicole nailed this story. The plot was just amazing .
They are so many moments were I was laughing so hard, but also some very emotional and sweet moments that I just had to re-read entire paragraphs.
I don't want to give so much of the story away because honestly is a must read but I can just say that Thor and Jo are perfection together and their hate/love relationship is one of the best I've ever read.
Until Thor by Nicole Rodrigues is Thor and Jolie's story. This is a fantastic addition to the Happily Ever Alpha World ! We met both Thor and Jolie and in his brother's book Until Kingston. The book starts with Jolie who leaves town to start over after she leaves her moocher of an almost soon to be ex-husband. She's tired of supporting her ex who did nothing the entire time they were together (dating + married) while she did everything. She had had it and is ready to start new without him. She starts life in a new town with a new job and has her good friends plus new friends. Suddenly she happens to get ran into by Thor. Their 1st time meeting was definitely one of a kind. She even had to track him down and get his attention in a unique way which Thor never forgot. Jolie is one lady who you don't want mad at you!! The chemistry is sizzling hot between them! This is a case of opposites attract and it's immediate when these two start bantering back and forth. The story starts going fast and the plot moves fast. There is lots of great emotions, angst, drama, passion, humor, heat, feels, attraction, friendship, family dynamics, romance, love and my favorite- HEA. I look forward to reading more from this author.
If you have read Until Kingston, then you already have a bit of a clue as to what is going on. If not, then I do suggest reading it, as these two stories tie together quite a bit. Jolie has realized that her marriage is going nowhere, and after finding out that her dream of babies is not a shared dream, she leaves. Now, for the first time in ten years, she is single and is going to pursue her dream. First up is moving to TN where her bestie, Guin, is and finally finished with residency is now an OBGYN. What she doesn't expect is meeting Thor. Thor throws her for a loop and somehow they end up "faking" an engagement, so that her ex will stop fighting the divorce and sign the papers. Along this journey the two go from faking to not faking back to faking it again, and boy is there loads of drama! What happens when the two finally get on the same page, will it all be fake or not?
What a read this turned out to be! I read Until Kingston, so I had somewhat of a clue what I was getting into but I was not prepared for what this turned out to be! HOT, on fire naughty bits, loaded with drama, laughs, some sad moments, and an amazing cast of side characters. This was a really good read and I give it 4 stars.
