Not Just a Go-To Book, but also a How-To Book

Profitable Preserves by Renee Pottle is just the most informative book I have seen and read if you are looking to set up a side business of any type, not just home prepared deliciousness. Every chapter has information taking you from just considering the project all the way to looking at record keeping and legal aspects. And each chapter ends with a checklist of the ideas presented in the chapter for you to fill in your takeaways for that chapter. It helps you build your business from the ground up or from your kitchen to their table.

This book was so helpful to me as I have recently retired from fulltime work as Chef for a private living community. It has been 45 years since my classroom training and I have always worked for another entity, not self employeed. I did not have to do all the record keeping, the business office or manager handled that. But I did a lot of productions for sale in their Gift Shoppe. So, in retirement, I have the abilities and the time but I needed this book to help me through setting up that home-based business.

Renee tells you where to look for the guidelines for the set up, the concerns of health department, of licenses if needed, of record keeping; all to make your side business profitable and safe. All you need is to fill in the imagination, start creating your signature items for the public to enjoy and start bringing in some extra spending money.
