Rylie is staying out of it. No more investigating, no more drama, no more danger.

She has enough on her plate training the woman who completely upended her life.

But when someone is brutally attacked, Rylie is conflicted.

Surely, the police can handle the investigation. They have the experience, the training, the knowledge. And Rylie not only has a job to keep, but friends she doesn't want to let down . . . again.

Until she realizes she may have been the target of the attack and the woman she's training—her nemesis—may have been the attacker.

Will Rylie be able to let the police handle the investigation or will she put her own life at risk to bring the attacker to justice?

One of my favorite series! Rylie is back and is stuck with a summer park ranger for two weeks. She’s not going to find any dead bodies or solve and mysteries. Right? Love this cast of characters. Always full of mystery, laughs, and a little hint of romance. It kept me turning the pages!

Fast and funny mystery

I really enjoyed this story. A lot of the characters were in previous books so it was like a reunion when I started to read. The story was fast paced and very difficult to figure out who the " bad guys" were. The story was complete with a good ending, but I know there has to be a follow-up. A mystery with a touch of romance.

This is another excellent mystery that sees Rylie Cooper trying to find the murderer of several women, all of whom have connections to an old boyfriend of hers.

Rylie has learned her lesson. No more investigating! So when one woman is found dead in the park during an event, she forces herself to turn everything over to the police and walk away. But the second one at an event while Rylie and Garret are making plans for their wedding? A little harder to walk away. But when it's her arch-nemesis in her park??? You won't believe who begs her to investigate.
So many bad memories and evil rolled together make a murder so personal, and puts Rylie next in line.
Fast paced, crazy situations and people, and, oh yes! Baby shopping. You'll have to read it to believe it. Lots of funny spots along with the tense parts make a great addition to the series!!
More please?!

I love this series and this book is another good addition. I love reading these mysteries and this one is even more interesting with the plotline. You definitely should read the other books to get the background about the characters and what has happened so far. They have slight language and innuendo to them. Definitely could not out this down and can't wait for the next story.

Whacked: A Rylie Cooper Mystery (Rylie Cooper Mysteries Book 5)
By Stella Bixby
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Whacked: A Rylie Cooper Mystery (Rylie Cooper Mysteries Book 5) by Stella Bixby. The story pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved the character of Rylie. When a brutal attack happens, Rylie has said that she will let the police investigate the case. No need for her to be involved. Will she be able to stay out of the investigation? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has twists and turns to it that I wasn’t expecting. Rylie is such an amazing character. I grew to care about what happens to her with every chapter that I read. The author does an amazing job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I felt like I was right there with Riley. You are introduced to many additional characters. Some of them are friends and family who help Rylie and are protective of her. I enjoyed the bantering and interactions between them and Rylie. Then there is the attacker who has evil plans. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that will have you hooked from the beginning. I highly recommend reading it.

After reading the first four books, I could not wait to find out what happened next with Rylie. Especially after the teaser we got at the end of book 4. "Whacked" more than delivered and left me wondering what I will read next, as this is currently the newest book in the series.

Now if you are new to this series, you can certainly start with this book. However, you will get a lot spoilers to the previous books in the series. However, I know that there are those of you who like to start at the end and then go back to the beginning.

I recently found the "Rylie Cooper Mysteries" series (two weeks ago), and have literally been racing through the books. I feel like I am constantly searching for a fun, light mystery, that is smartly written. You would think with the whole Cozy Mystery genre, it would be easier. However, I have found that there are a lot of books that try and fail to live up to the hype. If you have read books by Shannon VanBergen (Glock Grannies); Kate Benitez (Amateur Womens Sleuth); or Chelsea Field (An Eat, Pray, Die Humorous Mysteries), you will love this new series by Stella Bixby.

"Whacked" sees Rylie determined not to get involved in any further detective work - she wants to keep her job as a park ranger and her boss has made it very clear that enough is enough.
So when 'Giraffe Girl' (aka summer park ranger Victoria) is attacked Rylie ain't having none of it ... until her boss, Ursula, who also happens to be Victoria's aunt, tells her to.
And it soon becomes clear that there is a very good reason why Rylie needs to find out who is behind the violent attacks on women who all have one thing in common - they dated her ex, Troy!
And she's got to plan her upcoming wedding.
The crimes are ultimately solved though not in a particularly satisfying manner - it just doesn't ring true and some of the secondary characters only seem to exist to muddy the water (i.e. Ansel and Naked Guy).
But to make up for that we've got another slice of Rylie's life to enjoy.
3 Stars.

I knew from the first few pages of this book that I was going to enjoy it. A great, light-hearted mystery book with an entertaining main character accompanied by a group of others who made the story come to life.
This is book 5, and read perfectly well as a stand-alone, but it does reference earlier stories a little. I've since bought book 1 and am looking forward to reading that one.
Rylie is an unwilling investigator - earlier encounters have put her in a position where she will be in trouble if she starts any investigation by herself - leave it to the police - but it's hard to stick to when she becomes personally involved with those who are attacked.

Book 5 in the series but a first one for me and read well as a stand-alone.

Rylie is a forest ranger who has previously been involved in crime solving but to her detriment and she is determined not to get involved again.

The best laid plans of mice and men...

But then women are being attacked and all of them seem to be connected to her through her former boyfriend. Or is that a red herring?

It’s well written and I enjoyed the book although I didn’t find it humorous as the blurb describes it. This is a good cosy mystery that is an easy read and I would recommend it for anyone who doesn’t want complicated stories and blood and gore.

This was my first book in the series and the first by this author. I enjoyed meeting Riley and crew. Since I started in the middle of the story, so to speak, I was just as confused as Riley was when Victoria showed up like she hadn’t been caught with Riley’s ex. Riley is a better person than most of us!!!! I liked the development of the crime and twisted ending. No damsel in distress is she? She’s a strong, moral lead who is real about struggling to forgive. Some characters I didn’t meet, but want to see more of in the next book? Soooo about that Luke? I like this group of folks and hope to join them on future adventures.

This is the 5th book in a series but the first one I have read. It reads just fine as a stand-alone novel and I don't feel like I missed much. It was a quick, easy read and very enjoyable! The story flowed well and I read it in one sitting. It was a solid mystery and had humor sprinkled through. And there was a dog - who doesn't love a dog! I would definitely read more in the series.

Love Hurts

Ok so cheaters never win. Crazy dangerous cops a have to be the worst scum of humanity. Well the opposite I equally true. Good an honest cops are the best of humanity. Unfortunately, Rylie lived with the first. Rylie, please breakup with Garret. He is the one for you. You are just going to hurt him worse the longer you take.

Fun series!

I have read the first 5 books in this series. It is a fun fast moving read. The characters are likable. There seems to be a lot of research done on many topics.
I'd like to get to know Fizzy a little better.😁
If you are looking for light cozy reading these are great books

Fun novel that doesn't take itself too seriously. Rylie's love life is complicated. And her work life seems to always have dead bodies in it. Add to that her new trainee, combined with her promise not to investigate and what is Rylie to do?

Once again I couldn't out it down and read cover to cover all at once! Whity humor and mystery make for excellent reading. I love how the author introduces new characters that have such personality! Keep the plot twists coming- can't wait to read book 6!

I've read all 5 books so far and usually by this time they seem to all fun together. This series has not done that so I'm heading to find #6. Thank you Stella Bixby for being a good author.
