Shea Malone and her two brothers, Finnigan and Brennan, have had to face each day under the controlling influence of their new stepfather, Tito Ramos. The fear of this man has grown to the point where a drastic change is needed. Their only possible solution is to get away from him by heading west to stay with their Uncle Jack Malone in Pine City in the Wyoming Territory. Shea and her brothers sneak out of the house heading for Pine City. Along the way, they meet a U.S. Marshall by the name of Haydn Banion. They explain where they are heading and why they had to leave their stepfather, Tito Ramos. The marshall was surprised to hear the name of Ramos, because he was chasing a group of villains with the same last name. He decides to help them on their journey to ensure their safety. When they arrive in Pine City, the marshall looks up the local sheriff, Sam Kincaid, to make him aware of Shea’s fate and potential problems in the future. The first few months in Pine City were a welcome relief, and Shea and her brothers met several new friends. The marshall looked in on them from time to time. Shea was drawn to Haydn’s quiet strength, and he was eager to protect her from anything and anyone. It was apparent that his feelings for her were becoming more that just a friendship. Eventually Tito Ramos, with the help of his two brothers, tracks down Shea and her two brothers in Pine City. Suddenly everything was at risk. Could Shea and her brothers find safety and happiness for years to come in Pine City?
This is the third and last in this great series. Marcella DiPaolo has done another magnificent job with this tale and this entire series. One of this things I like most is that at the end of the story she summarized what has happened to all of the main characters. Who married who etc.Haydn was a USMarshall and he becomes a deputy sheriff in Pine City because he is tired of constant travel , but mostly because he has fallen in love with Shea. Shay has run from her stepfather after the death of her mother. She take her to younger brothers, Finn and Bren. They travel to Pine City to find her Uncle Jack. There they are kept safe by her recluse uncle and a group of Indians. They have so many trial and tribulations and some how over come them all. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
I love story with a bunch of twists and turns to keep you happy. A action packed story that will keep you turning the pages and cheering for the under dogs.
