I will be honest I have read this book before when it was on Taptales on the Chapters app. However, I still loved reading the story again in paperback. This story is most defiantly a jalapeño pepper, almost as mild as a green pepper. There are some very hot scenes between the two main characters, but for the most part this in a heartwarming love story. I would recommend that you have a box of tissues with you when you read this book.
Ciara has been awarded the opportunity to work towards her dream job, an editor at a publishing company in New York. Being an unpaid internship has many drawbacks, until she finds out that she can still get a bonus by completing a dare that is drawn at random. When she receives her dare she is not sure how she will be able to successfully complete it with the baggage that she has. Mac has his own baggage that he is dealing with when the clumsy Ciara stumbles into his life. Through twists and turns their relationship goes through many changes.
Here is snippet from chapter two the day after Ciara and Mac met.
“After getting off the subway, I looked down at my phone and noticed it was still early. Feeling guilty from yesterday’s debacle, I decided to make my way to the Patisserie to apologize for…well everything. When I arrived at the shop, I noticed the open sign against the glass. I pushed my way in and heard the bell ring above. The guy looked up at me, eyes widened. He shook his head and pointed to the door. “Get the hell out!”
If that isn’t an interesting way to start off the relationship between the two main characters, I don’t know what would be.
Life has a funny way of working, Lizzie Lioness has proven that in this amazing book. I love her writing style, and her talent is undeniable. I did have somethings that bothered me a little bit, there are a few typos that were missed in editing. Unfortunately, it was a bit distracting from the story, not enough for me to stop reading by any means. Also the lingo used in a the story was not that of American dialect, I was able to follow the story and know what she was trying to get across but if you are going to use a certain location as a setting you need to use the same vernacular that they actually use in the place which it is located.
I have read many of her books and haven't run across these problems in her other books. I don't know what makes this one different but it has NOT put me off reading her books in the future. In fact, I have an other book of her that was delivered this weekend that I will be reading.
I recommend this book to those that love, love stories with a few hot scenes. This story has actual plot, which puts it above a few stories I have read in the past. The way that Lizzie Lioness weaves this tale is truly beautiful. I believe that a lot of fast readers could read through this book in one sitting, it grabs you and draws you in. The only reason that it took me two days was because the boys were needing attention.
Thank you for reading this review. I hope I have helped you find your next Tantalizing Tome!
