The title story, Murderlized, finds Moe Howard of The Three Stooges playing amateur private eye in Hollywood of 1937, solving the murder of the man the comedy team “stooged” for, Ted Healy.
Moe isn’t the only unlikely detective in the short story collection, as famed writer Damon Runyon seeks The Devil’s Face and a young female detective and her rough-and-tumble partner are Out for Blood.
Max Allan Collins and Matthew V. Clemens, whose collaborations include the bestselling CSI novels and the Reeder and Rogers series (Supreme Justice), collect eleven of their sometimes sexy, often violent, always exciting short stories, which range from police procedure to chilling horror, including the short story Lie Beside Me that was the first appearance of John Sand, star of Come Spy with Me.

If you're familiar with Max Allan Collins you'll know of his "True Detective" series in which his fictional private sleuth moves through Chicago and other mid-century cities interacting with famous people and famous crimes. They are all excellent.
This collection of stories, contains some of those themes, but expands beyond them. The title story is worth the price of admission alone as Moe Howard - of Three Stooges fame - plays detective investigating the death of the individual who brought the comedy team together and who died in a drunken Hollywood brawl. It's sprinkled with references to Hollywood, and includes a James Bond hint for the discerning and knowledgeable reader.
Other stories in the book are equally good and cover a variety of times and themes that are sure to entertain.
An Entertaining and Eclectic Mix of Stories... I've read several of Max Allan Collins' short story collections and have enjoyed them all. This collection was an unusual mix of tales going from Moe Howard involved in solving a friend's murder to a vampire in the bayou. Well-written and fun reads all. Looking for something to enjoy on a rainy afternoon? This would be a great pick!
The first story features Moe Howard as an amateur detective. The last story has a vampire seeking justice and blood. All the stories deliver in a big way. Well done, sirs, well done.
