Bella Young

Amazon Top 100 bestselling author Bella Young writes feel-good romance with all the swoon and none of the steam—just the way your heart likes it. Her stories are filled with small-town charm, witty banter, and characters you’ll want to hug (or maybe marry). If there’s a happily-ever-after waiting around the corner, Bella’s already writing it.

When she’s not plotting fake-dating schemes or matchmaking unlikely couples, you’ll find her sipping tea, wandering local bookstores, and talking to her dog like he’s her co-writer—which, to be fair, he kind of is.

If you believe in slow-burn tension, swoony kisses, and the kind of feel-good romance that gives you butterflies and the giggles, you’ve come to the right place

The couple: Rusty and Kaylin

Romance genre: bodyguard
Series: The Guardian Series
Length: 57 pages

Plot: Kaylin is an ER surgeon and has started getting notes from a stalker. She hires a bodyguard, Rusty. He knows that she's in danger and he intends to keep her safe.

Commentary: I felt like the reveal of the stalker was a little anticlimactic; he was the only person mentioned by name other than the main characters and one friend, so it really had to be him (unless the author wanted to drop a plot bomb in there, which I'm glad she didn't). And how he tried to get her was weird - dude, you're . But it could be an intro to a decent series, if you like the bodyguard trope.

Next book in the series: Come To Her Rescue

Way to fast and too short.

It could have been brilliant this book but it was all so fast. She was being stalked so she hired him as a bodyguard. On seeing her he wants to flip her over a table??? Erm! Then he decides it’s not safe for her at her house so she moves in with him. Spelling mistakes through the book as well. And I’ve never met a doctor who would wear dirty scrubs to a hospital as she did. Gross!!!

Keep Her Safe is the first book in Bella Young’s the Guardian Series. In it we meet two outstanding lead characters—Kaylin Lawrence and Rusty Redmond. Kaylin is a beautiful and quirky trauma surgeon. Rust is a former New York SWAT Team cop and an ex-military man. He is well trained. He owns his own protection agency. When Kaylin starts getting a series of unsolicited romance notes and flowers from an unidentified stalker, she gets frighten and seeks Rusty’s help. Once they meet, they both feel an immediate attraction. Will Rusty be able to keep Kaylin safe? Who is the unknown stalker? Will Rusty and Kaylin’s attraction become something more? To discover their journey and learn the identity of the stalker, you must read this book.

This book was a quick and enjoyable read. I liked Ms. Young’s character-driven plot. We get to witness Kaylin and Rusty as total strangers to become a loving couple. Ms. Young’s use of dialog was well done. The banter between Kaylin and Rusty had me smile. Her use of descriptive language in her scenes are riveting. The scene where Rusty and the stalker fight was so realistic. I enjoyed this book tremendously and recommend it. Happy Reading

Call of Duty to Protect

Spoiler alert: I love short story romances but I want them to seem realistic as well. This did not to me. Yes, Kaylin needs help because someone is following her. She is scared as any normal person would be, especially because she doesn't know who is doing it. She gets the name of Rusty from a security officer she works with. Within the day they meet both Kaylin and Rusty have feelings for each other and say I love you within 2 days. The story was good but I don't feel that within 2 days people will say I love you to one another and move in together.

Short and surprising

A romantic suspense that flew by. The story quickly unfolds and shows the two main characters and the problem that will draw them together. There is a lot of description and background information that helps create the world and strengthen the cause for concern as the stalking escalates.

The problem or stalker was not readily apparent and the story was enjoyable. The romance was a bit vague, quick and predictable, but it fit with the story. It was a quick read with good characters and a HEA.

This story had potential but it was just too short, with no developement of the personal and emotional aspects of the main characters who fall in love and live together in less than two days. It's possible to keep a book short and still stretch a time line over a few weeks. I had the feeling this author isn't great coming up with natural dialogue between main characters so she just wrote that they are both quiet. And for a military trained man, now a bodyguard Rusty lets the bad guy get the upper hand way too easily.

This book definitely had potential. It is hard to develop characters in a novella and I thought the character development suffered in this one. I also found the dialogue to be a little stilted. Dr. Kaylin Lawrence is being stalked. Rusty Redmond, who is in private security, agrees to keep her safe. There is an immediate attraction. There is also an almost immediate resolution to the case without much work from Rusty. There is a happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written, great character development, and with enough passion and spice to heat up things. The sub-plot mystery with her patient was a tad too simple for my liking, but it gave an excuse for the rest of the story to happen. If you're looking for a quickie, you won't go wrong with this choice.

I great short novel, with enough action but like most short novels i find them over too quickly and could be a real full blown novel instead, so it gets me why write a short one? for people waiting in hospital waiting rooms? for people on transport? i do not know the answer to that but its worth a read none the less.

A quick, short read, but has enough details and story to pack a punch. With a stalker lurking in the backgound and minimal suspense, the book still provides the reader with quirky characters and humor.

A light-hearted love story

I thought this book was just ok. The Stalker revealed himself too soon, I thought and the main characters declared their love in a very lovey-dovey way. If it's romance you want then this is for you.

Bella is a new author to me, however I truly enjoyed this short read. It was a very intense romance set in the middle of a very real and frightening situation. Very well written and very deserving if the 5 stars I gave her.

This book was super sweet and short. The characters were nice. Nothing problematic happened.
My only critic is that I think this book would have been better longer and maybe a little less insta-lovey.

Short and sweet

Cute story, ultra short. I don't hold it against the story for its brevity. Just some parts would have benefited from a little more detail. I'll still probably read book 2.

Kaylin is an emergency room trauma surgeon who is being stalked and her friend advises her to contact Rusty Redmond, a retired police officer turned PI. Can Rusty protect her and can the feelings they have for each other grow. Great quick read and holds your attention

This is the first book by this author that I have read. It is a very enjoyable short story with very likable characters, some mystery, and some romance. I wish it had been "fleshed out" a little bit more, but it is an entertaining, fast read and I will definitely read more by this author.

Mr. Cutie

Storyline was great, for me to short. Even though Mr. Cutie and Dr Lawrence fell for each other fast, it's a little unusual. Keep up the writing.🤗
