Fall in love with two "lovely, lush, and layered" beach romances from a renowned New York Times bestselling author (Kristan Higgins) — together for the first time in print! Barefoot in the Sand When a hurricane roars through Lacey Armstrong's home, she decides the rubble is a chance to finally achieve her dreams. Nothing is going to distract her from running her own hotel—not even the hot, younger architect eager to work alongside her. Both have experienced heartbreak in the past, but after meeting Lacey, Clay Walker can't imagine his life without her. Clay has until the end of the project to build Lacey's trust in their future together—one that will last forever. Barefoot in the Rain When scandal strikes for celebrity life coach Jocelyn Bloom, she hides in the one place no one would think to Barefoot Bay. But her hometown is nothing like she remembers. Her father is a shell of the man he once was, and Will Palmer, the man who broke her heart, is his caretaker. Jocelyn's return brings back old feelings for them both, but her presence also unearths the turmoil that once led to her leaving. Jocelyn has guided countless clients to happiness-but can she and Will learn to let go of their own past to find a sunny new future together?
I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.
MEET ME IN BAREFOOT BAY is a collection of two beachy romance reads that is great for anyone looking to get double the books in one. The two books are complimentary, but they have their own style, making each unique. I overall enjoyed both of them in their own ways, and I would recommend this collection for fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins.
BAREFOOT IN THE SAND features Lacey, a single mother, whose story begins with a hurricane that she and her daughter are lucky to survive. Their house is completely destroyed. Looking on the brightside, Lacey takes the opportunity to rebuild the house as a B&B - if she can find the right architect. When a much younger and hotter guy shows up than she was expecting, Clay must convince her that he is right for the job. When he does and they begin working together, they won't need to look far for reasons as to why they should be something more.
I really enjoyed the main story, as well as the other drama that kept the plot moving quickly. Building the B&B is only part of the challenge, with the small-town island putting up its own obstacles. Additionally, the mix-up with Clay is due to competition with his architect father, and I appreciated this plot line as well as how it is resolved. This was a rewarding read with a lot of hope and looking towards a brighter future. The couple is really perfect for each other too, and I enjoyed the ride.
BAREFOOT IN THE RAIN features Jocelyn, a young woman running from a Hollywood scandal. Growing up, she had an abusive father, who took her away from the boy she loved. Now, she is returning to town to find her father without his memories and a different personality and the boy she used to love as a man she can't help but be attracted to.
I was engaged by the couple and their romance- especially with the second-chance elements. I did have some trouble with her father and his transformation. The domestic abuse was hard to read. Jocelyn's own path to healing was rewarding, and I appreciated her growth and finding love again. The couple was definitely an easy one to cheer for, and I was happy that they got a second chance.
Overall, this is a great beachy romance combination book that I would recommend for people who enjoy small-town settings, diverse plots, and engaging drama. Please note that I received a review copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Just a classic hallmark book. It wasn’t life changing but it still had the complexity that I enjoyed when reading about characters. Everyone changes. You know when you open the book that it will end with your smile. Thoroughly enjoyed my time, will absolutely recommend, and I will be reading the next book. Not life changing but I’ll always look back on this book with a smile, so definitely impactful.
Honestly I cannot say enough about the way Roxanne St. Claire writes. She gets you hooked with the first book and the follows up with more twists and turns and wow factors with the second book. The way she gives you just enough detail without killing it with details is perfect. Great story!
I absolutely loved the book from beginning to end !!!! I couldn’t put this book down ! The first story blew me away , by the second story was on Google searching how to find the other books in this series ! Sweet endings ! Loved it !
Barefoot in the Sand by Roxanne St. Claire is an enjoyable contemporary romance. I had fun following the life of a single mom raising her teenager daughter. Together they faced, a tornado that destroyed their home and belongings. So, they move back to Barefoot Bay and that’s when Lacey uses the insurance money to plan her B&B. Only the architect she thought she poke with and was going to hire, turns out to be a younger man. A sexy as hell younger man with a talent in drawing up buildings and getting things done. He always rises to the challenge. Just when things heat up between them, Lacey’s ex husband comes back on the scene. Talk about complicated. Then there’s handling her teenage daughter’s attitude and fantasy that her parents have changed and will remarry. Then, there’s the town council they have to win if the B&B or resort will be built at all. So much rides on one man. It all connects to him. Can a woman once burned by love learn to take a risk and trust again? Overall, this was a funny, sweet, and intense read. 4-stars
Barefoot in the Rain by Roxanne St. Claire is a heartfelt story. I immediately felt sympathy for the female character. Her father was abusive to both her and her mother. After his last bout of abuse, she left home and never came back. Now, her father has complete memory loss and she’s struggling with believing if it’s real or if he’s faking it. She’s also struggling to forgive him as well. Then, there’s the only man she ever loved who turns out to be her father’s caregiver. He has forgiven her father but there’s still a secret he doesn’t know about…and when he does know, everything will change between them again. I loved the way this book was written. I was hooked. This story was the most captivating tale I’ve read. A story of second chances, forgiveness, finding oneself, standing up against abuse, and of love. There was plenty of romance and an emotional rollercoaster to keep my full attention. This novel, was driven by the characters, action, and dialogue. It went by faster than I liked. 5-stars
I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.
