The Last Witch Coven #3

Chasing Sorcery: The Last Witch Coven Book 3

Drug addict. Lazy. Useless. Drunk. Names that my siblings called me. Seeker of Truth. That's what I preferred to be known as.

When our arch enemy Nick offered me the opportunity to go back in time to see why we had become obsessed with hunting each other down, I couldn't refuse.

When I agreed, what I thought were hallucinations took over. The past would not only answer questions about my life, it would reveal who Nick was too.

This is a great series and has had me hooked since book one. Each is slightly different as each sibling is different and this book is Theo’s turn to find his soulmate. There’s a little action, a little romance and a whole lotta emotional struggling and turmoil in this witches versus warlocks tale and I really look forward to reading the next book!

I really liked this book, partly because it gave us a little more weight to the twin flame theory and partly because Taurus's journey was so much deeper than the ones that came before. There was a gentleness to the story quite like real life Tauruses though I wonder if it did need to be depicted as quite so slow-witted (I don't think most people, Taurus and others are actually like that).

There's a pattern emerging with each book - one personal crisis/issue to be lived through while also furthering the larger twin flame plot. With Pisces it was what seemed to be anxiety (the mental health condition), Aries dealt with a crippling (literally) injury and Taurus gets through substance addiction. It's interesting that the issues have been very true to the signs themselves as well.

Good going, this has been my favorite of the series so far.

Since this is my zodiac sign I was more excited for this book than any of the others, and boy did it not disappoint! We find out more about Nick and his mission too, one of my favorite in the series so far.

This story focuses on Theo, the drug addict of the witch coven, who doesn’t believe in the curse or the idea of a soul-match. Although the plot probably could have delved further into the issue of addiction (which could have been a really dark turn), that really wasn’t the purpose of the book so it was unnecessary. The larger point of the book is to show that Theo was blocking his destiny, or at least his understanding of it, by using drugs. It’s not until he stops that he realizes there is some truth to the mission he has been told he and his siblings must pursue.

Because I am not British, there are some colloquialisms that confuse me in Rachel Medhurst’s books. One of the terms I didn’t understand this time was “agony uncle.” I also didn’t get “monkeys” like in this quote: “My motto had been not to give a monkeys about anyone else…” I read it as “monkey’s ass.” At first, I thought it was a typo, but it appeared a few times so I don’t think so.

I liked Theo, despite his superiority complex, which I suppose contributed to his drug addiction. He was smart and had some clever comments, like this one: “Stupid is far too intelligent to come near me.” I also loved this exchange:

“Are you going to stop doubting?”
Her image started to fade. I held onto her, not wanting her to go.
“I doubt it…”

The story is not quite finished. The coven still has work to do, but with this book, they have moved forward considerably and seem to have gained the advantage. Theo will be a formidable opponent to Nick so I’m looking forward to some of their future encounters and watching Theo grow into his power.

I've read the other two books in this series and am enjoying it so far. There were moments at the beginning that left me a little confused but then I got into it. Theo is fighting the truth with drugs and alcohol... refusing to believe his fate and what he needs to do. He goes through a lot of personal growth as he faces his demons, strangely with the help of Nick, sworn enemy. While he faced loss and the guilt associated with it, it was nice to see him find strength with the help of his family and his soulmatch. Looking forward to seeing who finds their soulmatch next as he and his family fight against the warlocks for survival.

Yet again what another fantastic book in the series by Rachel. I have read all the books so far and would definitely recommend them. Each book is about that character with there own demons and the joint problems. I don't want to say too much and spoil the books!!!! These are very well written and easy to get captured within the books. There are twists and turns and suspense when you just can't put the book down!!!

Chasing Sorcery: The Last Witch Coven Book 3, my eighth read from author Rachel Medhurst and the third in The Last Witch Coven series. An ongoing, well-written tale of witches, warlocks, and suspense. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading Chasing Spells: The Last Witch Coven Book 4 and more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I was given an ARC of this and having read all of the books in the series so far, I have to say this is the best one so far. Well written with great characters, it's engaging from the start and has you hooked til the end. Touching on darker issues to do with drugs and alcohol I think we see more emotion from Taurus than the other characters. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Theo's story takes a darker turn as the drug addicted family black sheep struggles to come to terms with his life and the mythology that surrounds the "family" and their mission.
I loved the fast pace and all the secrets revealed as the over all story line of this series advanced by leaps and bounds.
A good read with an unexpected HEA.

This is the 3rd book in The Last Witch Coven and was Theo's story. This is an interesting series. I have enjoyed reading about how these witch’s overcome mental and physical obstacles to find their soul match. Curious to see how the other witch’s get theirs.
