A quick and cute read! Tsundere shou x a shameless, scheming gong—full of laughs, a bit of family drama, and just the right amount of fluff. I really enjoyed this one and definitely recommend it!

A fun read. Not the best I’ve ever read, but definitely the best I’ve read this year. Scheming, flirty ML × violent, tough-acting but kind-hearted MC.
You should definitely pick it up if you’re looking for a light, funny, and fluffy read.

I jumped on this as soon as I saw the translations were completed, as I've read other works from Jiang Zi Bei and enjoyed them in the past.
This was along the lines of what I expected, a somewhat lighthearted romance featuring a shameless and scheming ML pretending to be bankrupt to pursue his school crush after many years who is the biggest tsundere ever. It's a quick read; I finished in a day or so.
The story starts off with a 1 year contract relationship between the MC, Ji Ran, and the ML, Qin Man. After hearing that Qin Man's company filed for bankruptcy, the MC takes pity on him and decides to hire him for a year for help with matters both both personal professional. Qin Man, who is described as a genius when it comes to business and doesn't lack either money or opportunities, decides to temporarily shelve his own plans so that he can spend time with Ji Ran and pursue him. And that's the premise of the whole story.
Both of the main characters were likable. You have Ji Ran on one hand, who acts tough and speaks like a rude hooligan, but his actions belie his words, and he's like a paper tiger that makes a lot of noise but doesn't actually do anything. He has a soft heart and it's his family circumstances that forced him to be so tough. And then there's Qin Man, who is up there as one of the most shameless ML's I've ever read. For example, he pretends not to have a car so he can hitch a ride from the MC while calling his assistant to pick up his car, and his excuse for moving in with the MC is because he's afraid the loan sharks are out for his money so his apartment isn't safe XP
Because the MC is a tsun, he had plenty of funny lines that kept the story lighthearted. Maybe it's because of this, but I felt like the story moved along at a decent pace. There's not much in terms of actual plot; mostly it's about the MC dealing with some family drama, though there are some love rivals for both the MC and ML thrown in for good measure.
The romance develops nicely. They spend a lot of time together right from the start given the nature of their contractual relationship, which is different from most novels, so it's pretty obvious from the beginning that Qin Man actually likes Ji Ran. It's just that the latter is completely oblivious to his feelings. For example, when the ML actually confesses, the MC's first thought is that it's not real and that Qin Man is doing it for other reasons. Have a little bit more confidence in yourself, Ji Ran!
I appreciated that Qin Man was always there for Ji Ran no matter what kind of stupid family drama or underhanded tactics from his enemies that he has to deal with. And as the story progresses, it's slowly revealed that their relationship in high school was actually not much of a rivalry as much as two adolescent boys playing pranks on their crush to get their attention. It was kinda cute XP
The story ended a bit early imo. It would've been nice to see how Ji Ran formally meeting Qin Man's parents went. I thought it would be covered in the extra chapters, since there were so many of them, but most of them were dedicated to covering a side CP featuring one of Ji Ran's friends. Kinda disappointing.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, Qin Man suddenly took his hand, so their ten fingers were touching without any gap between them.

Qin Man was surprised. “You aren’t going to renew the contract with me?”

Why doesn’t this person have any ambitions at all?!

“It’s okay.” Qin Man was calm and composed, “I can satisfy you with my mouth too, don’t you like it when I blow you?”
There were still people around. Ji Ran was alarmed when he heard this, and quickly reached out to cover his mouth. “Qin Man!”
“If you feel it’s not good, we can buy some toys.” Qin Man didn’t stop even though his mouth was covered. However, his voice when muffled was even louder, “No matter what, I won’t let you dry up from thirst.”
F*ck!
Ji Ran could no longer bear it. He let his hands go and lowered his voice. “You are doing it on purpose!”

He quickly walked to the balcony and looked across.
Qin Man was standing on the balcony on the other side, with several pots of flowers beside him. When he saw Ji Ran, he even blew a kiss in his direction.
Ji Ran pulled the curtains tightly, his face cold. He was about to return to the living room to play games when his phone rang again.

I like this author but I felt that the Mc in this one was very annoyingly oblivious until the end. I was also very confused about the forced drama towards the end when he discovers the (very obvious) deception from the ml.
I guess I also thought the "outwardly hard" part of the Mc was a bit annoying. Towards the end, it toned down enough for me to enjoy the hedgehog nature of the Mc.
I actually quite enjoyed the ml and how secretly obsessive he was. The author actually makes it all logically make sense with some of the backstory reveal.
Before the extra, I was absolutely on board with the friend getting a couple. After the extra, I wish the friend's partner wasn't such a partner-pleasing-martyr. If I think about it, the side-Mc is set up to be very similar to the main-ml in that he develops and obsession with his partner that makes him scheme and lower himself just so he can insert himself into the others' life. However, the main ml always gave a hint of the fact that he's more scheming than lowering and never felt taken advantage of. The side-Mc unfortunately feels very lowered and taken advantage of. He completely dismisses himself in favor of the (rather scummy) side-ml. I feel like the author misses a chance to make this side couple more interesting by not making the Mc a scheming green tea.
There's no real moral in this story. Maybe something along the lines of a mother's love being unconditional and as deep as the ocean. And people never knowing the impression they've left on others. And don't underestimate how much you might actually like the person you're bullying? That last one would have made this story unbearable of the ml wasn't a scheming psycho that perfectly knows how to handle the bullying person in love.

this was adorable!!!! jiang zi bei still remains one of my favorite writers of all time and this novel was a lot of fun
the dynamic between ji ran and qin man was ridiculous in the best of ways. ji ran (MC) ends up buying his supposedly bankrupt nemesis qi man (ML). i really enjoyed the premise and characters and romance but the plot was a little draggy whenever it focused on the business/work side of things.
but!! i still loved this despite the occasionally draggy plot. if you love jiang zi bei (I can do it/wait for me after school/guide on how to fail at online dating) or fluffy slice of life danmei definitely check out ‘my nemesis has finally gone bankrupt’

On a JZB reading spree!
The book starts off with fluff and suggested smut. Yeah, chapter 1. The whole book is fluffy, with occasional smut.
MC is super tsundere while ML is mostly pandering to MC. My itsy bitsy complain is that MC could have a bit more sense? Like I feel that's he's pretty dumb sometimes. But considering this is one of JZB's earlier works (relatively), it definitely has room for improvement.
Overall I really like reading this quick novel and it has all the elements I like - lots of fluff, a little smut and some angst.

entretenida, no necesitas mucho cerebro para leerla es de esas novelas con las que te la pasas bien sin necesidad de una trama realmente emotiva, la verdad muy al estilo de la autora sin embargo si considero que es su novela menos memorable mínimo de las 4 que he leído, igual me gusta la dinámica de los personajes y por eso la dejé en 3
