Traveling to China to retrieve a kidnapped scientist shows Diesel the depths of human depravity. Not that he needs more proof. He’s been doing this type of work for a decade. This is the first time though the person he was rescuing was this interesting.

Eva Langston had been kidnapped while walking across the street and then locked up in a lab half a world away. Joining two other scientists, both letting her know there was no escape, she refuses to give up hope. When the rescue does come, it wasn’t smooth or easy.

Still she was damn glad to be free. Until she realizes that freedom is a long way off, as, one by one, her science team is picked off, leaving her the last one to be dealt with.

Exciting!

Whoever thought working in a sterile lab was boring, they were dead wrong! And talk about slave labor! Eva finds herself kidnapped and held against her will to work in a Chinese lab, not allowed to speak to her co-workers or go outside, forced to work long, grueling hours every day, only to be locked in her tiny basement room with the barest of furniture and minuscule bathroom.
No windows for the view or to see the sunshine, let alone to get a little fresh air. Depression, fear, and anxiety were the constant companions for those being held.

Diesel and his partner, Jerricho, are sent to locate and rescue Eva. She is somewhere in China. A huge task for such a large country, to find one person, with no clue to her whereabouts. Using the Maverick’s high tech technology, they are able to pinpoint a location where Eva was last seen by facial recognition cameras. Now all they had to do is figure out where they took her from there.

The rescue turns out to be the easy part. Fleeing this huge country undetected is the challenge. They must endure constant travel and remain patient while doing it. Changes of clothing, hair color and normal appearance are expected, designed to give them the slightest edge against whoever is responsible for Eve and Marge’s unwilling confinement, if they hope to stay alive and safe in a very foreign country.

Full of danger and stealth, this story has a lot of high end travel, bouncing from ship to ship, staying below deck, hoping to remain undetected and unidentified. Diesel and Jerricho take their jobs very seriously and take advantage of every resource available to them. They will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of everyone on the run.

Intense and captivating, this story has you on the edge of your seat and looking over your shoulder. Thrilling and satisfying, yet hot and fun! Loved it!

Book 13, wow! Mavericks are on a roll and this one is Diesels run. HIs back up is Jericho. I have to say I enjoyed this one, it was more natural instead of the trade mark teasing of meeting their partner. This one was intense, Diesel goes to rescue the scientist, Eva being held in China. If that's not a challenge enough, when they arrive they find 2 more people to rescue. The trek to freedom is fraught with turns, surprises and loss. A quick read that entertains and has a HEA. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

After a very short turnaround, Diesel finds himself travelling to China to rescue a kidnapped scientist called Eva and as part of that he observes the depths of human depravity. He might have done with kind of work for a decade, but this time he is rescuing someone he finds interesting. Eva Langston was kidnapped while walking across the street and finds herself locked in a lab half a world away with a couple of other scientists who fill her in that there is no chance of escape. However, she refuses to give up hope and keeps her belief that someone will come for her, although when that happens it is not smooth nor is it easy. She is glad to be free but soon realises that freedom is a long way off as one by one the rest of the scientists are picked off until she is the only one left - can she get home in one piece and will she have the chance to explore what is possible between herself and Diesel? Contains some sexual content at the end of the story.

I loved this story which had a great mixture of drama, danger, twists and turns in it. I loved the way that they would start to feel that the worst was over and then something else would happen. I also loved the way that the trust and relationship between Diesel and Eva had to quickly develop even though it was hard to establish as her scientist's brain needed proof before she could believe certain things. I loved the way that it suddenly had a conclusion and who was behind all of the drama they were experiencing as well as the way they worked out that there was something tracking them across the world. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains some explicit sexual content near the end of the story.

Once again the partner from the last mission doesn't have the chance to get settled in before being sent on his own mission. Diesel is more than willing to take on this task although there isn't too much information as yet. What's known is that Eva Langston was taken from outside her home, and at the moment is believed to be on a Chinese destroyer. She's an epidemiologist who's made some very significant discoveries recently. Discoveries that could change many treatment options.

It's not until Diesel and Jerricho reach mainland China that they actually get the information they need, unfortunately they have company when they get to Eva. A Russian scientist had also been taken and now there's a team of Russians looking too. There are three scientists they escort out of the laboratory, one of whom is shot before they make it to their getaway car.

Eva and Marge make it to their first stop in the getaway, but both men suspect Marge is very ill regardless of her protests of being fine.

It's when a plane taking Marge for treatment is shot down that Diesel and Jerricho realize whoever had take them to begin with has a far reach and doesn't want anyone to survive being released.

Eva is steady and strong, going with the flow of things but frightened as well. It seems no matter how stealthy they are they run into something that's just not right. There's also a little more than just a little attraction between Diesel and Eva. Jerricho sees it long before Diesel can admit it though.

I really love these books, the escape routes are not only dangerous they're creative. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

This is the 13th book in the Mavericks series. These books are completely independent, each book revolves around a different ex-SEAL that is now working black ops for a secret government agency. In this book, a US research scientist, Eva is kidnapped and made to work in China under armed guards. This is where the Mavericks come in. The mission assigned to Diesel involves sneaking into China and rescuing Eva. After finding where Eva is being held Diesel and his backup Jericho, go in to rescue her and find that there is also a team of Russian spies. This complicates matters since Diesel does not know if they are also there for Eva or someone else. Diesel working with Jericho, rescue Eva and two other scientists being held captive with her. Once they leave the Chinese lab, they start their journey home. Since they have not figured out who kidnapped her or why, they try to keep her hidden on their way home. They take a roundabout way home which involved multiple modes of transportation zodiacs, a US navy destroyer, speed boats, yachts, and multiple fights. Once they reach the states, Eva hopes her ordeal is over, but Diesel & Jericho are not so sure. When the who and why are revealed, it was a twist I did not expect. As Eva, Diesel, and Jericho travel we see how Dale Mayer developed the wonderful characters, which I thought was the best part of the book.

This is the 13th book in the brilliant Maverick series.
The Mavericks are a highly trained team of ex military men who work outside the restraints of the military, they work in pairs with all the backup, intel and equipment that they may need.
Diesel Edwards task takes him to China to rescue a kidnapped scientist, it was Diesels chance to lead and his backup was to be Jerricho Hickory.
Eva Longston, an epidemiologist, was working on a cure for a new virus when she was kidnapped along with two other scientists, was she to be held for ransom ? was someone trying to steal her work ?
Diesel and Jerricho didn't have any answers, especially when they discovered that the Russians were also involved.
The rescue of Eva and her two colleagues is an action packed, fast paced story full of suspense, the zig zagging journey over land sea and air was fraught with danger and the body count was escalating.
Diesel liked Eva from the start and he would protect her with his life.
This is a great story with plenty of action and a blossoming romance, the author cleverly leads into the next story in the series and I can't wait to read Jerricho's story.

Hours after his last mission ended, Diesel takes lead on a mission to rescue an epidemiologist that was kidnapped and taken to China. Now Diesel and Jericho not only have to rescue her, but figure out her location. Eva is working exhausting hours in the Chinese lab with no enough sleep or food with two others. Getting Eva and the scientists out of China is one thing. Getting them home safely is another. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. For me, each book in this series gets more suspenseful. I love how flexible that Eva is when told that plans have to change to keep her safe. One of the things that I enjoy most about this series is the strong, intelligent, and resourceful women. This book is no different. I also love all the resource that the Mavericks can access. I also enjoy the realistic romance that starts between Diesel and Eva. The suspense never stops in this book and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it.

Diesel almost had his beer opened and ready to relax after his last mission, when he got the call to go out again! His assignment is to go to China and save a female scientist, who had been kidnapped off the street. On his arrival Diesel meets up with Jerricho, who spent time in China as a child. Eva doesn't know why she was kidnapped, but she knows she's not in a great spot, she a long with two other scientists are locked in the lab for very long days, then locked in their cells, not allowed to talk, or communicate. So any real hope for rescue, is slim. Thought Eva doesn't give up! It takes Diesel and Jerricho awhile to figure out what is going on, so many different paths to take, leading to dead ends. Once Diesel finds Eva ....and her friends things heat up even more! At first you don't get the vibe that Diesel and Eva will be that all important Love Match so many of the others have made, this was a slow burner because of all the other things going on. All the things you love in a Dale story are here, mystery, danger, intrigue and yes a HEA.

This story is an action-packed intrigue which will keep the reader on the edge of the seat. It is a romantic intrigue with a complicated plot and complex characters.

Diesel has been sent to China to rescue Eva, a kidnapped scientist. She and two other scientists are being held in a windowless lab where they must work 12 hours a day, seven days a week. They sleep on a cot in a small basement room, also windowless, and are given minimal amount of food.

When Diesel and his partner, Jerricho, find the prisoners, they blow up the building and carefully plan their escape. Unfortunately, they are still in serious danger, because their kidnappers must kill them all to silence them. Therefore, they must carefully hitch their way home. This means they must travel slowly and carefully to make sure that they are not discovered.

Each day, as the group works their way home, the respect and attraction between Diesel and Eva grows stronger and more romantic. However, they cannot express it until they are safely home.

Great story!

When Diesel travels to China to rescue a kidnapped scientist, he doesn’t expect to be the next one to fall like his other brothers, but doesn’t resist, especially when he finds Eva, a strong, smart and capable woman. Eva was kidnapped right from the streets and has been held captive with other scientists. The others have been there longer and their hopes of a rescue have faded, but she’s remaining strong. When Diesel finds her and the other two, they make a dangerous trek out of their “prison”. But when it seems her kidnappers are right on their tail, Diesel has to come up with a round about way to get her back to the U.S. before they are caught.
A great read and another page turner in this series, with action, suspense, and a bit of steam. I enjoy these reads, the no drama between the couples, no OW, the insta love, and the suspense that keeps me glued to the pages.

Diesel

Eva is kidnapped and taken to China to continue her scientific work she had been making progress with, although now it's not for the US.
She and two other scientists are being held in a lab environment working 12 HR days, little food, rough treatment and sorry windowless rooms. They know there is no escape, however, Eva refuses to give up hope that someone will come for her.
Enter Diesel and Jerricho for recovery and escape. Although sent for Eva they decide to rescue all three. Chaos breaks out when they are escaping as they aren't the only team of rescuers on site.
Without giving anything away, Diesel and Eva seem to work well together and maybe develop feelings for each other on their long recovery trip back to the US. But, are the feelings real? Will they actually make it all the way home as they have many roadblocks along the way. Will the enemy become known so all are safe again?

The Mavericks Series Book Thirteen
Diesel Edwards had just finished his first mission for the Mavericks. It didn't take long before he was called out on one of his own. He'd be heading to China to find a kidnapped scientist from Boston. So, off he went.

Eva Langston hated everything about her situation. She was stuck in a room with two other kidnapped victims. Trying to keep her spirit up...even though the others had given up. Would anyone even know she was missing? Come looking for her? She just didn't know.

Nothing is ever easy with these missions. Not when the evil people in the world want what they want and don't like losing. But the Mavericks were good guys with many resources, and they didn't give up. This series is fast-paced.

Eva, a epidemiologist, was abducted from her home and whisked off to China. Diesel and Jerricho are on their way to rescue her. Upon arrival at the site where she is being held, they find not one scientist but three and are needing to avoid a Russian team trying to rescue one of their scientists as well. I learned about how Eva and her dad dealt with the loss of her mom, a lot about coping skills, family relationships, Zodiacs, junk boats, power boats, electronic tracking devices that are difficult to find and airport shutdowns. Throughout the trip there were losses, fear, love and trust and how to deal with each one of these. Quite an adventure to say the least. A good book to be waiting for my reading time. I need at least one, if not two, of those especially now. The epilogue includes Jerricho's next trip which will be to Switzerland and that sounds pretty exciting too!

Things look pretty dicey when Diesel and Jericho first arrive and attempt their rescue not only because they don't know exactly where Ava is but also it appears they aren't the only ones after the scientists her are being help captive. I loved how Eva speaks her mind and is a straight shooter so you know exactly what's on her mind but gets on with it if she knows it is a means to an end like doing as Diesel and Jericho say as they are her best bet at freedom. This read has plenty of tense times where the bad guys seem to be a step ahead but you don't know how and feel like they will never get to freedom as well as some light hearted and fun moments as well as an attraction that build up to the point it can't be ignored and all of this makes for a fantastic read that sucks you in from the get go.

Eva is a scientist and she is kidnapped and taken to China to continue her work with constant threats and at gun point. Diesel has just returned from his last mission when he is called on to rescue the missing scientist with his mission partner Jerricho. They locate the scientist but there are a few surprises in store for them, there are three American scientist being held and a Russian team is also infiltrating the compound. The kidnappers don't want any witnesses so they are on a mission to kill all three scientists. Diesel is falling for Eva and he can not let her get hurt or injured. He will risk his life to keep her safe. There is danger, fear, death, anger and hopefully a happily ever after. I love this book, the character are great and the story is amazing. It had me on the edge of my seat. This is a must read.

Eva is s scientist working on viruses when she is kidnapped outside her house on her way to work. Next thing she knows is that she is being held captive in a warehouse basement lab along with two other scientists in China. Diesel is sent, along with Jericho as backup to find and rescue Eva. Diesel and Jericho get all three out of the lab but then the other two are died before getting to the US. Diesel finds out that Eva had a GPS inserted under her skin while she was knocked out thus allowing the Chinese to track them. I really enjoyed reading this story . Diesel
Edwards heads to China on his own mission for the Mavericks . He is tasked to rescue an Epidemiologist that was kidnapped with the help of fellow Maverick Jerricho Hickory . Eva Langston was taken from outside her home . She then was taken to a lab somewhere in china where there are other Scientist being held . Diesel and Jerricho must rescue Eva and find a safe way out of China and keep themselves alive . But they really have a hard time of it . This story is action packed and definitely suspenseful and skittle romance to spice it up . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Paperback. Love the smell of a paperback when I receive it. Seems a shame to ruin it but I needed to know what happens to the next one in the series. Wow book 13 already. Diesel has been given his mission. Rescue a scientist who was kidnapped outside her home. Ava is working loads of hours a day, give little food and kept in a small room to work for someone who kidnapped her. This is where it get really fast paced and full of action. As Diesel, with the help of Jerrico, help the three scientist get away. As the baddies come after them 2 don’t survive. I do love this series. I love the fact one man is on a mission and the other that helps gets his mission in the next book. I can’t wait to read the next one. It will be interesting to see what happens between Jerrico and his ex wife.

An open book or dark and mysterious?

I really like both Diesel and Jerricho, they are very calm and in control, they are alert but portray a soothing and relaxed demeanor. For once it is not about power and speed, but more about stealth and secrets.
Eva is smart and calm, being a scientist she is not prone to emotional outbursts and as such has a very logical mind. She knows escape is not her area of expertise and is happy to follow Diesel's lead....well once he has explained his thought process and reasons! The power behind the kidnapping was never under suspicion, but they show you just how dirty and depraved humanity can be!
The teaser for Jerricho's book leaves you hungry for more, it will be a long two months whilst we wait.

A light suspense romance read but this one has more sweetness in it, love the sparks between Diesel and Eva.
It's a complicated rescue mission, it's like the bad guys always can catch them up, always one step ahead. The journey to bring the victim back to US soil is dangerous, I'm waiting something bad to happen in every page, expecting an attack in each corner. That what makes this book is a page-turner. Although there's more sweetness then actions, I still enjoyed it. Although I felt like it's missing the camaraderie between Diesel and Jericho, it's like they don't know each other well, still enjoyed it.

If you're looking for a light suspense romance read, go for this one.

Diesel- Mavericks Book13

This was an exciting addition to this series with Diesel and Jerrico assigned to rescue a scientist, Eve in China. Their adventure was action packed as they saved her life time and time again. In the middle of making their escape Eve and Diesel actually fell in love as they made their way to Wisconsin and her father's fishing cabin on the lake. They went by boat, battleship and luxury boats to get there. Even there they encountered resistance but Jerrico and Diesel made sure Eve and her dad were safe. It was an amazing book and I cannot wait to read the next release about Jerrico.

I love the Mavericks - a covert black ops team that may break the rules but get the job done to keep us safe every day and "Diesel" was a perfect addition to this must-read series that immediately grabbed my attention and kept me glued to the book until I read the last word with complex characters, suspense, lots of action and romance. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Diesel and Eva when he travels to China to retrieve her after she was kidnapped. If you enjoy well-crafted, suspenseful military romance, you will love "Diesel". I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Black ops, mystery, romance.

Former Navy Seals are part of an elite organization that doesn't have restrictions like the Navy. They do the same thing but have more leeway to get the job done. Two-man teams get an assignment to rescue victims. Each story lead finds romance/partner.

Interesting story. The stories are more authentic when using their skills to rescue victims.

The men all sound the same, with the same values in life, who want justice for the victims and to make the world a better place to live. There will always be evil people in the world. Their jobs will never end in the fight against evil.

Suspense all the way in this intense plot, from the first page to the last there is no relaxing while on the job for these two guys or for Eva. Excitement and twists and turns keep it edgy while a spark of interest turns to romance on the move, I wish life had left me alone for the hours needed to read this because I just wanted to soak it up and leave real life behind. Plus I didn't guess the baddie until near the end so great keeping that hidden Dale, I love the surprise of figuring it out towards the end. As always fabulous and compulsive reading. This is such a great series. Funny I've just read two books with similar plots of scientists in danger, I guess this is a sign of the times right now.
Diesel and Jericho, what a great team they made, danger and action aplenty in this story as they race to save Scientist Eva who has been kidnapped. Was it all as it seems though or could danger actually be closer to home. Someone doesn't want her to make it and her colleagues are dying around her, freedom seems a long way away.
What an entertaining story line and wonderful characters, I loved every moment.

It lived up to and had every single thing I needed it to. Sexy, steamy, swoony, action packed, suspenseful, unforgettable, all of the best feels. Ugh I just loved this book, I didn’t want it to end!! Another book I’ve fell in love with. This has to be my favourite series by Dale Mayer. Don’t get me wrong I’ve loved the others but this series just stands out for me. I get super excited every single time a new book comes out and I just can’t wait to get my hands on it. Then I just want to read it all over again. Well done Dale. Looking forward to the next book. Happy reading everyone!!

This was ok. The action was good as was the interaction between the characters. I just felt that it was all unrealistically smooth. All the resources, the immediate ease of travel arrangements. They liked each other straight away and were thinking about the future. Don’t they know the famous ‘relationships based on tense experiences never work’ it’s all too easy, and the perpetrator and ending was also smooth, predictable and a bit too easy.
I did enjoy it, there just wasn’t the zing or much tension.
