„Source Born“ the third installment in “The Half-Blood Chronicles”, by Ivy Baum, revolving around Kestrel (Kes to her friends) a strong and likeable young heroine in the quest to discovering her own identity.
Kes, this time, is on her own, with her former allies turned enemies and apart from her friends, Kes is fighting for mere survival. The world has changed, humans are aware of the existence of magic, had deemed it dangerous had decided that it should be annihilated. As the Alliance of Four grasps absolute power, Kes joins the fight, partnering with an old enemy to unearth the last relic and solve its secret, before the Alliance beat them to it and all hope is lost.
A very well constructed plot, with a mix of fast-paced action and character development, that keeps on showing Kes growth throughout the series and her struggle between loyalty, trust and needs. The story is fast-paced, action-rich with ups and down that turn it into a veritable rollercoaster that keeps the reader engaged from cover to cover.
In the final installment, Kes knows she has to find the Relics before the Alliance does. She will discover some very disturbing news about all the relics that will prompt her to go in search of two family members. The whole time, she will be followed, meet up with old friends and acquaintances, and learn more truths to secrets that need reveling. There will be ultimate sacrifices made to help protect the Earth and its inhabitants. It will all come down to Kes making many difficult decisions and being able to follow through on them…what will happen along the way? Who will sacrifice and what? Who will she find? What will she discover? The book is full of action from the beginning to the end! You will definitely want to read the conclusion to this epic journey~ I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Kes is going through the ringer. She's growing and maturing into a great character. Her growth in character is phenomenal. This is a fast paced and action packed rollercoaster ride of excitement. Unpredictable twists and turns making you want more. Sad to read the final book of this stupendous series. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
