It only took Sasha until college to finally get her long time best friend, Kade, to see her as more. She ended up with two months of spectacular memories and a baby on the way to show for her efforts. When she went to tell Kade the news he was already gone. As in, moved across the country without saying a word before she could even tell him, gone.

Kade's family drama, and a string of bad luck, had him flying to Vegas and then stuck there for months afterward while cleaning up their messes. Rumors reached him that his long time best friend, and the love of his life, was seen in the arms of another guy. As if the family drama wasn't enough to sink him, a broken heart damn near destroyed what was left.

After months of communication failures, rumors, and broken hearted longing Kade and Sasha run into one another again, literally, in a diner off campus.
The problem... Kade sees just how very pregnant Sasha is, and she sees him with his arms around another woman.

*This is a full length, stand alone novel with an HEA. It is meant for ages 18+ for questionable language and adult situations.

By the end of this story, I still didn't think much of Kade.
I don't mind an angsty read now and then and I love a good 'old-school' harlequin, but the H has to be redeemed and has to convince me that he truly loves the h.

I expected better from this author

The 'Lily' from the title is the name Sasha gives to the baby Kade fathers. She spends most of the book pregnant with Lily and there's not much sexy about the story.
Lily and Kade become the best of friends as children. As teens her love turns to romantic love and his turns to a revolving door of OWs. She's practically the only girl in the school he hasn't slept with. The usual double standards in this one...

The story bounces back and forth in time, often in a confusing way.

There is an evil friend who goes to a fair bit of trouble to sabotage their relationship. But the onus was on Kade to find her and find out the truth (which he never did), because she had no idea how to find him.
Instead they bump into each other while he has his arm around a new girlfriend.
They spend the last 15% kind of the story rehashing what the last 8 months have been like (she is now 8 months pregnant). He wants to blame his mother because it was her meltdown that sent him running from Sasha in the first place (without telling her or seeing her first!). Man I could go on and on about the convoluted sequence of events and conniving etc that leads to this whole fiasco. But I still say Kade shouldn't have accepted the word/lies of people he didn't know that well about Sasha. He and Sasha had been friends for years and he's supposedly so deeply in love with her?? But this doesn't come across in the story at all except for the author saying it was so.

Sorry not buying it. He was pathetic. He doesn't make much of an effort at any point in the story to show her his love. I didn't even get the feeling sex with her was better than with the multitude of other notches on his bedpost. No golden vajayjay here. Even his brother and friends point out how lame he is when it comes to his treatment of the woman he is supposed to love more than anything.

Safety is not good at all, but at least he plans to get himself checked for STDs before sleeping with Sasha again.

Angst is totally my kink, and the blurb had me thinking this story was going to be one angsty ride, but instead this story was just meh and boring. I love themes of the heroine suddenly finding herself dumped and pregnant, then struggling to make it alone in the world. Instead of that story line though, this story was just a total miscommunication between two lovers who were both too lazy to try to track down the other person to find out exactly what happened between each other. Instead this couple just moved on with their lives. Sasha moved on with her pregnancy, and Kade moved into a new relationship with a lying skank. All of this could have been avoided if either of them had seriously tried to track down the other person and just talk to them. Not only was the story thin, but I also never felt any connection to either of these main characters. Sasha was pretty much a doormat and Kade was the ultimate douche.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
==============

Zero is a complete asshole. He has paraded a number of other women in front of the heroine since high school and ignored her entirely as a woman. She was that invisible friend. Even other women treated her badly in front of him and he just ignored it. The first time they had sex was when he was drunk at a party in a stranger's room and she was a virgin. Disgusting. After he didn't spend a minute of his time talking to her in person, he simply believed in others and moved on to engaging in a relationship with another woman and having sex with this woman.
Our heroine could have chosen better, I think Zero's half brother would be perfect for her. At least he was a good person and not a moron.
She spent the entire pregnancy alone and suffering because of his abandonment. All because idiot Zero cannot waste a minute to speak to her in person and see what happened to her when he left without explanation.
Very frustrating and unforgivable. At least she didn't accept to have sex with him without checking sexually transmitted diseases, it was a bonus.

I wasn't embarrassed to have been with Kade, just that I had always thought my first time would be a private moment, and instead all these people knew what just went down.

The weight of her arm across my chest was a heady thing. I'd been dying to feel that again for months. Her dark hair, draped across me didn't feel as silky smooth as it usually did, but maybe that was just because I had been without her for far too long. A strange smell was tickling my senses too, almost a vanilla and cinnamon combination. It wasn't unpleasant, but it definitely wasn't her scent.

“No, you did not drive. And yes, we fooled around, but you were too piss drunk to actually do anything more than a little oral.” She smiled then. “At least that part was nice. I will give you credit there, I got off before you passed out.” Her lilting laughter actually made me feel sick again.

Jenn was just what I needed right then. We hadn't had sex yet. We'd done pretty much everything else, but something - the ghost of her - was always holding me back. Anger bubbled up under the surface again when I thought of Sasha with someone else.

As soon as she was in range I grabbed hold of her and pulled her down on my bed with me. She didn't offer up any protest, and before long I managed to get both of us naked. I was just about to plunge into her when she stopped me and reached for her purse. She took a condom out and handed it to me. I promptly did my thing with it and then waited no further.

He'd had sex with Jenn. Probably not that long ago. Days maybe. Now that I was thinking about the fact that he had sex with Jenn any friskiness I may have felt before dissipated in an instant.

“I was always careful, Sasha.” Ugh, I really didn't want to hear that, even though I needed to. Always. That means there was more than one time. Double Ugh. “I will get tested though so that you can have some peace of mind.”

The synopsis of this book really caught my attention and I couldn't wait to read it and see what happens.
Sasha and Kade have been friends since 4th grade. Unbeknownst to each other they fell for each other but never let on to each other. As they grow up Sasha's feelings grew but Kade moved on to dating anything with a pulse.
Once they hit college Kade finally pulls his head out of his ass and realizes that they could be more than friends.
Circumstances out of their control pull them apart. A friend with a grudge doesn't help matters by doing everything they can to keep them apart.
I would have loved to give this book 4 stars. Because it was a good story. A few spelling errors but not enough to take away from the story. What disappointed me was the fact that they knew each other so well and still didn't believe in each other. WHY take the word of someone else about what was going on in each others lives instead of finding out what was going on?????
Then for Kade to hook up with someone that was essentially keeping them away from each other was just wrong. Regardless how much Sasha loved him and they had no idea what was conspiring to keep them apart IMO she took him back to soon. He moved on and started something with someone else instead of confronting Sasha and asking her what happened.

This was painful to get through. I kept reading cause I wanted to see them get back together. That happened at 90%. 90 frigging %. The worst part was they never even tried to fix their problems, they just kept on keeping on. So dissapointing.

Letters to Lily is a book FULL of misunderstandings. It's been three days and I'm still thinking about it. And what sucks is it's not out yet so I can't talk to anybody about it. That aside the book was great. Basically it's about two childhood best friends, Sasha & Kade, that choose to take it a step further and become a couple. They've only been an official couple a few months before all goes to hell in a hand basket.

Sasha is such a strong person. She's loved Kade from the moment she met him. She watched him date other girls and yet still stayed his best friend. Once they become a couple she finally has everything she's always wanted. After a night of drinks at a frat party she finds herself not only in love with Kade but having his baby. Enter MASS COMUNICATION ERROR after error and misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Even with all the shit she's going through she holds her head up high and does what's best for her and her family. She has such strong feelings for Kade and she never waivers from them. The stress of it all becomes overwhelming and she decides to start up writing in her journal again. She starts writing to her baby. Telling her all about how much she loves her and all about her dad. She speaks so sweetly about him. Never speaking ill of him. She's so much stronger than most women in her spot would've been. Sasha also has such a wonderful support group. You can't help but fall in love with them as well.

Now as for Kade.... Oh what to say. Let's start off by saying that he's 19 and he's a guy. Those two things together are not at all a smart mix. He makes or should I say he doesn't make so many wise decisions. I loved him but damn he frustrated me. I wanted to shake him but then I kept thinking he's only 19. He finds himself having to leave abruptly to go save his mom from herself and his craptastic father. He finds out not only that he has a little sister but a brother that's the same age as himself. With his mom's medical issues he has a lot on his mind. Not to mention he has a friend back home informing him of things about Sasha that Kade just doesn't want to believe are true. I still think that even with all that he could and should've found a way to get in touch with Sasha. I get the reasons for the no communication but I was just so heartbroken for Sasha that I just wanted Kade to try harder. Fight harder. Love harder.

Even with all the drama... this book was a great read. The characters in this book grow. They become more than who you thought they would be and some even surprise you as to how selfish a person can truly be. This book is a standalone but I'm hoping for another on some of the other characters. Can't wait to see.

I accept that some of you will not agree, but except for the incorrect usage of common words, I enjoyed this book. I wonder what your opinions are but you’re allowed those opinions and if you are all ready to hear more, I have already thought long and hard about mine, as I have read quite a number of her books recently. I like new authors and from the synopsis I knew I would enjoy this one.

This was not an easy read for me . I was infuriated at some of the characters in this story but most
Of all with the main couple . Miscommunication or lack of communication was the main issue . Then some interference by side characters . As always Christine Michelle knows how to rip your heart out and stomp on it . She is the only writer that is able to pull these feelings from me in every single one of her books. It’s written fabulously and draws you in from the beginning . Get your tissues ready for this one !

I have changed my previous review. Yes I could see the holes but I didn't read in the spirit it was presented so here goes.

Lily is the baby that Sasha writes to, her unborn daughter. They are journal like as she tries to understand where her boyfriend and Lily's father has gone. Between a jealous male housemate and a few huge misunderstandings these two do deserve their HEA.

PS it needs a little editing in places!

Interesting story

Well I like the idea of the story but you make these people stupid. The roommates really should have been smarter putting the people together. The waitress did, a real snake, she is. But why no one said names was weird and the fact he could have found out where Sasha lived should have been easy since Kade knew her mother. Also keeping them apart for so long based on what others said on his part plus he just had to have sex cause heaven help him if he goes too long without it. Girls go without it all the time. I just felt the plot needed more. The guy just doesn't come across as in love with her. Just very selfish.

Yes!

This is a really well written, "Friends to Lovers," book! Lots of misunderstandings, and angst, but a HEA.
My only problem is with his character being so willfully ignorant, weak (when it came to $luts,) and hurting her over and over. I loved when another guy took him to task for being so blind to how he treated her!Plus, during the time when they were apart, (in my opinion,) if he really loved her, he would have taken steps to find her, no matter what! But then again, that would have shortened the story!

Kade & Sasha

This is my first book by Christine Butler and I liked it. I don't know how it got so far with everything that happened. Just too much miscommunication and truly horrible people. I can't believe it even went that far. But the overall story was good, it lagged a bit, then picked up. I liked how it gave us both PIG's so we could see what they were thinking. I didn't like how clueless Kade was.. Seriously.. Ugh
Id definitely like to read the others in the series. Hopefully get Brad's story!!

Wow. I felt my brain cells die a little after pushing myself to finish the book since I can't (JUST COULDN'T) not finish something I started.
But this? Wow. Just.. It's beyond me, how this writer actually thought this plot made sense. I mean, how could they both lose communication like that? It's not like they're in different continents that they couldn't look each other up?
I'm sorry. I hate writing these type of reviews but I just felt so insulted. Like thisbwriter just shoved a bunch of shit down my throat all the while saying it's soup.

I mean, I--NO. JUST--NO.

Adorable…

I like this author and have a few of her books. First let me say that I think this cover is beautiful. It really conveys how much Lily is loved from the start.

SPOILER

This plot was a little whack-tactic. Everyone, well almost everyone, tried to keep them apart. The absolutely incredible number of lies and betrayals that happened is just unbelievable. It felt like every time I turned a page, someone else was doing something to keep them apart. Jason was the worst but Jenn was a close second.

The ending is completely adorable and I loved it. There are a few wrong words used and grammar errors but nothing horrible. Just enough to take me out of the story so I could fix the problem. Still, I enjoyed this one a lot and can recommend it…

I was invested in the story and the couple and rooted for their HEA. The miscommunication trope fell a little too neatly into place but overall it worked. The letters/journal entries written to their daughter during Sasha's pregnancy were both beautiful and heartbreaking and I turned each page, hoping the next scene would be Kade and Sasha's reunion. I enjoyed the book but would have liked to see more of Kade and Sasha as a couple post-reunion, especially since the book started post them getting together/the day it all falls apart for them and then they spent the bulk of the book apart.

What a good story!

Wow…seriously Wow. Talk about lack of communication and rotten friends and so called girl friends]! Christine Butler, Christine Michelle has written a story with so much heart it hurt reading parts of it. I would say, what I get from this story is go to the source, and not take your roommate or conniving girlfriend on what’s what, because they have their own agenda. It was entertaining and I’m glad that Sasha and Kade finally got their H.E.A….so sorry for the spoiler.

The miscommunication trope is too much. There are a lot of series of unfortunate events that take place. Lies, manipulations, too many missing and broken phones, too many changed numbers.

Over all I didn’t really like the plot or enjoy the romance. The book is spent in memory flash backs or their time separated. I didn’t feel the undying soul mate love they claimed to have because the characters are only together a few chapters at the very end. Their chemistry was really nonexistent.

So many things that could of been but were thwarted by a jealous house mate (male one for a change) who deliberately sabotaged his "best" friend then went on to add the girlfriends name to a spam list forcing her to change not only her mobile but her email address too. Enjoyable tale where if he had been thinking he could probably have left a message for her with student admin.

So good

I read this book in one sitting. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride from the very beginning. I was speed reading through the first quarter to get near the part where they find each other again. I half expected for the ow to confess that she poked a hole into the condom and is now pregnant as well.
Loved the HEA.

I really liked this book. Heart break and emotional. I was a little upset with how much misunderstanding was going on and I feel it could have been cleared up sooner than it did but overall it was good. I love angsty books so this book sure has it. My anxiety levels were all over the place especially towards the end. I definitely recommend

This was beautiful and heartbreaking. The pain Kade and Sasha endure is visceral; and while their finding each other again was redemptive, the time they lost is excruciating. This one will stick with me as I lived and breathed each anguished moment they were apart. I’m without words, just a mess of tears and a a bruised but mended soul.

Though being a clichéd plot, the book was good. But the book contained a majority of the part where Sasha and Kode not being together and a sprinkle of their past, barely 15 pages containing after they got back. So that's the lacking part in the book. Overall a neat read.

Sasha and Kades story is a sweet one however I can't imagine that many kurfluffies happening that would keep them from communicating with each other for so long but, I guess anything is possible.

Tugs at the heartstrings. I loved Sasha and Kade’s story and my heart ached for them equally as often as I wanted to bang their heads together! Christine writes books full of feeling and angst and totally took me into her world. What happens with Kristin and Brad?

Ok book

I found the book a bit slow. I wish she would of picked Brad and not the manwhore. I think she was just sowing his oats. As for Sasha, what a doormat. I was so pissed near the end that she just took him right back. I don't care about why before hand.
