Ivy and Keats a border collie are back with new characters in the mix (the animal kind). The 7th book in the series is about a television series coming to Ivy town. The catch is it is all about Ivy. The actress Vivien is older than Ivy. Ivy' s mother's age. Rebecca the producer did not get the right kinda of dog like Keats a border collie inserT she got a 200 pound Cavagian Sheppard. And Vivien told her and the 2 camera men that she was working with incompetence. She was very rude. . Ivy was outraged about the show because they were making fun of the way she lived now on Runaway Inn Farm. One murder It is unlikely person that is the killer. I truly love these books. I love the the bonds that Ivy has with all her animals over 50 of them. I had a birdie collie when I was young named Mitzy. It is true they love to herd and she was great at it. Mostly all these books in the series have interesting plots. Will read more

Ivy Galloway is eager to hear Evie Springdale's suggestions for marketing Runaway Farm. While the farm has seen an increase in visitors (when nothing bad happened), it's still a long way from being self-supporting. Evie suggests a reality web series focusing on the goofy, zany things that happen to Ivy in her daily life, similar to Hannah Pemberton's "The Princess and the Pig." Ivy turns it down with a hard no. Yet the entire town seems to think they are going to be featured in a new reality show. Ivy is the last to learn that Hollywood has come calling with a new pseudo-reality show based on her life. The locals are torn between the show being good for business and thinking they will be portrayed negatively. Ivy is appalled and wants nothing to do with the show. When Wilma, the angry sow, goes missing, Ivy suspects someone connected to the show let Wilma out. With the Rescue Mafia, Edna and Gertie in tow, the search for Wilma is long and hard and the ornery pig has managed to evade them all. She's even taken along the show's dog, Byron, a Caucasian Shepherd who is nothing like Keats. Unfortunately the search for Wilma attracts the show's star, Vivian Crane, who insists on coming along. The search doesn't end well for Vivian when Ivy finds the star deep in an icy pond. Ivy feels guilty that she left Vivian alone while others blame Ivy or her pig for murdering their celebrity darling. The mayor has no choice but to make Wilma her scapepig unless Ivy finds evidence to the contrary. In spite of promising to stay out of things, Ivy and her team have to make nice with Hollywood and find out who killed Vivian.

This was another outstanding adventure. I love this series so much! It's more about the characters than the mystery. This is a true cozy series. I adore the animals and Ivy's bond with them all and how hard she tries to help them. Crazy Wilma is one of my favorites and I'm tired of her getting blamed for murder. This time it sure looks like she might be guilty, but of course we know she's not. Even Kellan knows pigs can't hit someone on the back of their head. The mystery kept me guessing until just before the pieces clicked into place for Ivy. I feared for a moment that the murderer was going to be random, someone not even in the story until late in the game. Fortunately, Ellen Riggs dialed it back and made it plain to see. It wasn't who I expected but I wasn't surprised either. It's complicated, like Ivy says.

Vivian Crane was not a nice woman. She says she grew up on a farm, yet she hates animals! She's too lah-di-dah for farm life now. Her vision of farm life includes a cozy farmhouse kitchen with perfect, fresh-baked pies (made by Mandy) and pristine animals outside where she has nothing to do with them. Vivian is demanding, rude and bossy towards her production team and the execs. She treats her team like dirt beneath her feet and isn't nice to Ivy, whose life she's supposed to be portraying. It's obvious someone hated her enough to kill her. Who didn't is the question?

Vivian's producer, Becky Bower, is another truly awful person. She's demanding, callous, cruel and uncaring. She doesn't like Ivy, the farm life or animals. This is just a job to her. A job she doesn't seem to like. She can't handle Vivian so she passes down the rude behavior to her camera crew, Eric and Ray. Eric isn't very nice. He's more of the mocking and exploit the situation type than Ray seems to be. There's a lot of drama surrounding Ray. Ivy is aghast that her sister Poppy is dating the enemy and feeding him information about Ivy. Poppy is horrified her dates were manufactured by a manipulative cameraman who wants to make Ivy look foolish and dumb. She thought Ray was nice and compared to Eric he kind of is but he is not. He's cold. These two have been in show biz too long. I think either of them could have let Wilma out but I'm not sure one or both would have killed Vivian. They have to be used to divas by now.

The farm hand for the show, the Charlie stand-in, seems to care the most about animals out of all the crew. I'm not sure he really does though because he's willing to go along with this circus and even spray paint the animals white! He doesn't share Ivy's strong principles. The TV execs are awful people. They're cold, heartless, awful rich people. Ivy's experience in the corporate world has prepared her to deal with them. She's well aware they could and would commit murder if it suited their ends. It sure seems like it would.

I'm not a fan of Mayor Martingale. She might be a nice aunt but in the end she's a politician and she'll do whatever it takes to spin herself and her town as idyllic. I get that people are scared but when you invite TV in, you need to expect there will be trouble! I don't like how the mayor is trying to make Clover Grove into Dorset Hills. She comes across as a little sleazy to me. In contrast, I love Edna and Gertie, who are now survivalist BFFs. These two ladies are a hoot. Edna is more active than Gertie but Gertie is a pistol. She stands her ground and stands by her friends. She loves her farm, loves the farm life including animals and isn't a fan of the reality TV people. I don't think she's a murderer but I can't help but wonder if she is?

In this book Gertie meets her homesteading neighbors. In spite of their hippieish, peacenik sounding names and homesteading vibe, they're not very friendly. They don't share Ivy's compassion or kind heart. They seem to be willing to accept money for dirty deeds and look the other way. They have a vicious guard dog willing to attack anyone who comes between them and their perceived enemies. I think they wouldn't hesitate to murder Vivian. The show doesn't seem like their vibe, the Hollywood types sound like they would loathe the real farmers and cause a lot of drama there. I bet Vivian was killed simply for trespassing on their property.

Kellan seems to have finally come around on Ivy's sleuthing. He just warns her off because he loves her. He's very sweet sometimes and pretty much apologizes for being grumpy when he's working on a case. He doesn't have much space to decompress and single out his off-duty side when he's with Ivy. Kellan also seems to be coming around more with the animals. He knows Ivy's furbutts are teasing him and he allows it to happen. It's a running gag between them. He seems to care about the animals too, in his own way. He knows they're important to Ivy and she's important to him. He knows if he wants to be with her he can't change her and the animals are part of the package. He has to accept that and I like that about him.

In the last book Asher dropped a bombshell on the family. It sounds like that's about to come back to haunt Ivy in the next book. I'm eager to read on and find out!

Realty TV has come to Clover Grove (or Grover Clove as my brain kept insisting was the name of this town as I read) to film a life on a hobby farm show called Faraway Farm - with the 'M' dangling by a nail. Unfortunately that concept is taken straight from Ivy Galloway's life and own hobby farm where she rescues animals of all kinds and solves murders and other crimes with nerve-wracking regularity. Ivy wants the show shut down but when her grumpy sow named Wilma goes missing, seeming lured away by a two - footed predator, Ivy rallies her troops, including her prescient border collie Keats and marmalade cat Percy to hunt for her. When Vivian, the star of the realtiy show, meets an unfortunate ending while helping Ivy search for the pig, Ivy once again has a murderer to find while saving not only Wilma but a few other animals that cross her path.

This is the 7th in a series, and as such there were a few earlier plot spoilers but not enough to deter me from reading them at some point. Ditto on background for Ivy and her family; only a couple of times was I puzzled by a reference then realized it must refer to something disclosed in a prior book. Also, there is a tiny cliffhanger at the end that clearly leads to #8 in the series, to be published soon.

This is a book full of great eccentric people and animals, in a rural small town that is struggling to survive. I gave it 3.5 stars rounded down, mostly because as a dairy farmer's daughter, I have a real problem with the whole concept of a 'hobby farm'. Although in truth, what Ivy is running is a rescue operation. That I can respect.

This was a really fun edition to the farm series. However, some of the reoccurring secondary characters are starting to grate on my nerves…the mayor and Cori of the rescue Mafia, just to name a couple. But I love the brave and wild elderly neighbor and her old friend and I love the flower sisters. So I’m really enjoying the series as a whole.

Another great story for this series.

Vivian is the victim in this story, but a horrible person she is. It is hard not to have a really long list of suspects when the victim is such a cruel and selfish person. There were quite a few twists and turns in the story that made it difficult for me to pinpoint the murderer. I really enjoy being stumped for a while. I find it a more enjoyable whodunit when it is not easy to identify the murderer early on in the story. As I have come to expect and appreciate, humor and romance were added into the story to make it a really good read.

I’ve said this before, but it still holds true for this book as well… This is a clean, entertaining, humorous, and just all-around great read. Each time I read a book from this series; it seems as though I am catching up with old friends. I would love to be a part of the Rescue Mafia. I admire their dedication to protecting and rehabilitating animals rescued from bad situations. If you enjoy a story that will entertain you for hours and even amidst the backdrop of murder and mayhem give you warm fuzzy feelings, then this is a book you will want to pick up.

Crazy

Read this out of shear boredom. The communication with dogs and cats and pigs is just too crazy to even be funny.

I really cannot say enough good things about this series, which has become one of my Top 5 favorites. The main character, Ivy Galloway, is recovering from a brain injury sustained when she rescued a dog. The change to her memory, the mellowing of her personality, and her occasional impulsiveness make for such an interesting character. The universe of characters around her is great, and while many of them are not well-developed, I believe they will become so as the series goes on. I'm so grateful the series is as long as it already is, because I seriously love these characters and wish they were my actual friends.

Each book addresses a different animal, and this one related to Wilma the pig, with whom Ivy has been at odds from the beginning (owing to Wilma's trying to kill her, but who keeps score among friends, right?). I was happy to see their relationship evolve.

Another wonderful and fun story from the talented Ms. Riggs. Ivy and the Runaway Farm characters are back. Not only does Ivy find another dead body, but she also has a camera crew wanting to film her entire life; clumsiness and all. When she says no, Faraway Farm is born, with a double for not only Ivy, but also Keats.
The whole town takes sides on whether the reality show is a good thing and whether Wilma, the missing pig, is the murderer. Keats is in his element pulling double duty and being a part-time deputy, Percy is styling in his coats, and Wilma is finally tamed; by a dog.
Ivy has her moments, including an embarrassing rear-end video in front of the whole town, but the comedic duo of this book is Edna and Gertie. Gertie’s pet Minnie and Edna’s crossbow as well as adventures on snowmobiles has you laughing out loud.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Ivy uploaded, and manure flies!

I didn't think the series could get any better, but here it is, another great murder! And this one really ties Ivy in knots - thank goodness for Keats! Bunch of great oh-so obnoxious new characters, and more great times with Gerty and Edna ( I do love this pair) offering help and backup. I really enjoyed getting to know Wilma a bit more as well. As with Ivy's animals, there are always lessons to be learned. The plot is twisty, and naturally those we wish were guilty manage to slip and slide, wiggle and move just out of Ivy's wishful grasp. What else can I say? Great read! Ellen Riggs has done it again, and I can't wait for the next book. Goats, is it? I love goats!

I have enjoyed this series and this one (#7) was lots of fun and mystery.I did not guess the murderer until they were exposed at the end of the book. Definitely a very entertaining book!

Wilma, the huge sow on Runaway Farm, has been one of the most difficult animals to work with. Wilma has been voted “most likely to kill” among Runaway Farm’s feisty menagerie. She is fast and wants her freedom!

When Wilma goes on the lam again, she roots up terrible trouble and becomes the prime suspect when another dead body is found in Clover Grove. Meanwhile a reality TV show has arrived in town and the cast and crew are getting way too close for Ivy’s comfort.

Good

Wilma the Pig is up to her old tricks again, and is once more accused of murder. Ivy finds herself the focus of attention as a TV show wants to copy her life, and even the mayor is on her case!
Between turning her manure, finding her missing porker, and helping Kellen solve the case, Ivy and Keats are up to their eyeballs in trouble!

Another enjoyable and cosy mystery, the story surrounding Runaway Farm continues: with Ivy’s slow-burn romance simmering away, and her family of animals gradually getting bigger by the day!
Put away your cares, suspend belief for a while, and enjoy Ivy’s mystical relationship with her farm animals, and her bestie Sheepdog Keats.

Not sure

It was interesting to revisit some locations and characters from previous books, but though the book was about Wilma, I felt she didn’t factor in much and I didn’t know her any better at the end than at the beginning. It was all about the film crew instead - who I didn’t really care about. I learned a bit about different kinds of sheepdogs, but all in all this story seems a bit disjointed. I didn’t bond with Byron or Wilma or really see a reason for the killer to come after Ivy. Hmmmm

As usual Ms Riggs brings us another enjoyable story about life on Runaway Farm. I love Keats and love the bond that he has with Ivy. I am also starting to adore Percy. They are right by Ivy's side during the investigation and when she figures out who the killer was. I actually figured out who the killer was but was happy that the killer wasn't exposed until the very end of the book.

I volunteered an honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.

I’m really enjoying reading about Ivy and her adventures with Keats and Percy and of course, her friends and family. In this book, an actress is the murder victim and people want to blame Wilma, Ivy’s swine for it. Grab your copy and see what happens in this page turning read. I can’t wait to see what they get into in the next book. If you enjoy mystery with a touch of romance thrown in, you will enjoy these books.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

More fun with Ivy and the gang at Runaway Far(m) it was great!! I like how we’re getting a little more on family and friends characters wondering if any of them will be in own story!!??
I keep saying to myself to savour the book and then I devour it in single reading! Every new book is like Christmas, Birthday, any special reason!!
I downloaded Dogtown last year the whole set and enjoyed seeing how Runaway Far(m) came to be that’s a series that has to be enjoyed too!!

Faux farm

It was an interesting concept to have a reality show imitate Ivy's life. How annoying the outsiders were. I want Beverly to meet an unpleasant end. Her vet husband seems so nice. Once again there was quite a few suspects as the killer and the person seemed unlikely, which made them perfect. This book ended with a "to be continued" vibe and I can't wait for the next one.

Swine and Punishment is a fast paced, exciting addition to the Bought-The-Farm mysteries. It is Wilma's turn to shine in these great mysteries centered on an animal at Ivy's Runaway Far(m). You do not want to miss the hijinks and sleuthing involved in this book. Between searching for Wilma and eluding the TV crew, Ivy has little time to devote to her inn. I could not put the book down!

Reality tv wanted to do a series in Ivy & her farm. When she wouldn’t do it they started their own one. Whilst watching the start of the filming, someone releases Wilma. Whilst searching for her someone gets murdered. Ivy helps solve the murder, naturally. One really good thing is that Ivy & Wilma begin to get close to each other.

The characters in these series of books are so well developed, their antics and behaviours so entertaining, I found it absolutely riveting. From the people to the individualistic animals, the rescue mafia and town life and when you throw in a murder in a well written fast paced book, with romance...well the result is perfection

Swine and Pumishment

This is another good book in the series, especially if you love animals who are truly the stars in her books. The mysteries are good but you can easily discern who the culprit(s) are. I think it’s time though that the main ‘people’ characters take a front seat with more development of their relationships.

Each book is better than the previous one

This is a thoroughly enjoyable series with interesting, well-drawn characters who manage always to extricate themselves from predicaments that would daunt lesser personalities. The cat, dogs, and farm animals add a whole new dimension to the stories, not to mention the local characters of all ages. Delightful!

It's sad when the one of the most likeable people turns out to be the culprit. I saw their point of view, but it went too far, just like the retired veternarian, Dr. Roxton in "Twas the Bite Before Christmas". Although, anyone who had to deal with Beverly may go over the edge. But that's another story. I like Byron and the goat, still not too crazy about Wilma.

More animals for the farm!!!!

When a TV company comes to town, trouble follows! They are taking Ivy's life and making a loosely based show with an actress playing her role. When someone is murdered Ivy must get involved. What's new!! More animals join the farm from another dog to a miniature horse! Highly recommended.

Some reality show has decided Clover Grove will be a good place for a new show. it will use Ivy's farm as their inspiration.
Someone has freed Wilma. While out looking for her, there is another death. Someone from the show and it looks like Wilma is the suspect.
Will Ivy find Wilma? Will they find the real killer?
