Understanding Career Counselling explores the theory, research, and practice of career counseling from a British perspective and brings them together in one concise volume. The book addresses exactly what is meant by the term ′career′ in the 21 st century and the implications this has for those working with clients at different stages of their career. This book is unique in that it clearly relates career theories to career counseling, which is often an unclear area for trainees.
Very helpful for my Careers Leader PGA - there is something useful to take away in each chapter. The ICT references are now quite dated (Chapter 8). There are clear references throughout, so lots of useful links to further reading.
Excellent as a textbook for beginner practitioners. Clear, structured, with just enough insights and suggestions for the main schools of psychology that influenced career counselling. The only reserve I have is that I don't know how much was discovered in the field since the book was written.
