33rd book of 2020 (156 Books read overall)

Quote from the Book I Liked - 'The process of cleansing out the conscious, subconscious and the unconscious triggers that do not serve us is difficult to work. Most individuals struggle to do so because we cannot cleanse that which we do not acknowledge or recognize.' (Page no. 49)

Rating - 3.5 Stars

*Important take from the book* -
i. Why do we confuse acquaintance with friends?
ii. The greatest resistance is in the beginning. After we start, the initial success and momentum it creates make the whole journey much easier.

My Review - Usually, I don't like to dive into Self-help books and prefers spirituality over it anytime. But this book caught my attention and my intuition led me to go on with this book. And I was not disappointed. The author is an amazing Scientist in his field of work and wrote in-depth about our simple daily routines and mindset, which if changed/altered/improved, would let us give our 100 per cent in every task we do. Its not only just a Self-help book but a very good hidden spiritual wisdom behind these words. At first, I thought that I might be overthinking but no, the book does have spiritual teaching on every page if read deeply. As the author himself was a monk thus the reason behind such a profound and inseparable mixture of both worlds. Though again, I didn't get flabbergasted by this book as somehow it was dominantly self-help book and talks mostly about the physical existence rather than spiritual, which actually this book is (Self-help). And I prefer my choice to be that of a more spiritual, but again that just my point of view and any person who is not much in spirituality can dive right into this book and his lifestyle would change drastically.

Conclusion - A very good Self-help book with 'Between the words' spirituality.

A state of equilibrium in one's life is far more valuable than we realize. Through his part-memoir, part self-help book, Shayamal Vallabhjee employs his knowledge of psychology and spirituality to help the reader attain a sense of balance in their life.

Breathe Believe Balance is a powerful concoction of the author's anecdotes, textual references, personal development activities, and theories along with well-thought-out deductions.

I normally don't read self-help books frequently. But sometimes a good one comes along and you can't refute that they are actually quite helpful.

What worked for me and I'd suggest for you as well is that take a chapter at a time and absorb what the author has to say. It will definitely help clear your perceptions regarding certain facets of life.

Another thing I appreciate is that there are a lot of snippets that are highlighted in the entire book. And even various activities that you can do to get started towards bringing balance in your life. So when you're in need of some introspection, just pick a random page.

Sometimes even reading a single page was a bit overwhelming for me, not in a bad way; just that there's so much to think about. So give yourself and this book the time needed to work the magic.

One thing I didn't LOVE reading about was the element of sports that was woven into certain sections. But that's because I personally am not interested in sports.

On the whole, I surely see myself picking up this book again to implement the tips/ prompts that the author provides.

Shayamal Vallabhjee has presented a new age non-fiction book which is a chamber to find yourself and your healing process accordingly. He has compiled all his findings and techniques in a precise and facile manner.

Once you start reading this book you get so involved in the concepts and their practical applicability. One can find answers to the problems that he/she is facing for so long because of something that happened in their childhood or early life.

There are mindfulness meditations to make one go at ease. This book also contains feel-good practices and techniques. The set of questions in between the chapters, provide an area for the reader to self-introspect. These questions help the reader to analyze his situation and environment so that he/she can work on it to ameliorate their condition.

It's always intriguing to read a book by someone you already know, but you don't know. I mean, I have known Shayamal only recently, but there was so much about his past, which I was unaware of. Written with complete honesty and totally Dil se.. this book really represents all of what Shayamal has learnt through his practice and working with his phenomenal bunch of patients z which includes world class athletes and from his spiritual journey.
Many of the thoughts in the book resonated with my own understanding, and hence I can attribute the usefulness of them all.
Totally must must read

I am not good at asking for help. Even if I happen to do it, I always fill it with Thank you-s and Sorry-s until the person who helped me regrets helping me at all XD This is not just the case with physical support but even when I am emotionally in need. This is why books have always been a help whether I need to learn something or when I need a comfort. I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked this up other than the fact that it will be useful. But it was more than what I got myself into. The practical exercises and examples from Shayamal's own life experiences made it more interesting and helped me rekindle that fire of self-discovery. This book is what the title says - Breathe. Breathe as in really become one with your body, embrace it and feel it. Believe. This is an act of manifestation. Your foundation is based on what you believe. And then balance. This cannot be contained in this caption but his definitions were really thoughtful and paved a different perspective for the notion of balance. Read this if you are in to practical self help books. You will not regret it. I absolutely loved reading it.

Breathe Believe Balance by Shayamal gave me so much more than I had been promised!

It’s a phenomenal guide, an incredible journal, and an inspiring memoir. It will help you be more aligned with your values and your inner self, and act as a tool to lead you on your journey of self-discovery and healing. It has many journaling prompts that will help you dive deeper into being in tune with your emotions.

Full of lessons and practical applications are taken from his own life, from being a monk to working as a sports scientist and a psychologist to super athletes, it’s an introspective book that makes you question your own choices and decisions. Honestly, it feels like finally sitting down with a therapist who calls you out on all your crap, as calmly and peacefully as possible. From topics like self-love, understanding your own environment, building healthy relationships, understanding your strengths, Shamayal clearly takes the level of self-help books to a whole new level.

Fantastic way to blend personal experiences, with extensive research and bring out a guide like this. I love sports as an allegory and Shayamal that a master he is at it, dishes out good life lessons. Simply loved it.
