Beyond the Puppet Master's Reach

Rate this book
When it comes to murder in Landover, there are always strings attached.

Virginia Burke is famous in Landover for two being the town’s first female puppeteer... and its first serial killer.

According to history, in 1944, Virginia made puppets in the likenesses of each of her victims, who were all people who had done her wrong. First, she killed them in her puppet shows, then she killed them in real life. And when the police caught up to her, she took her final she killed herself.

Virginia’s ghost says none of that is true, and she's come to medium detective Carly Taylor to help her set things right.

Through channeling, Carly relives all the moments in 1944 to see what really happened. But when she starts exposing secrets, Carly gets a quick lesson herself about why, in Landover, the past is a show no one wants you to rewrite and when you try, you get to find out who’s really holding the strings.

Beyond the Puppet Master’s Reach is the seventh book in the Ghosts of Landover mystery series.

This is a great addition to this series. Carly is asked to prove the innocence of Landover's female puppeteer/serial killer by the deceased killer herself. This story takes Carly back to 1944 and has a unique plot, quirky characters, humour, danger, and intrigue. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

Staycations are never dull

As the story continues, Carly is once again solving a murder and putting on another seance. Things are heating up with her boyfriend yet at the same time the two prophecies are encroaching on their relationship. Things are never dull for Carly. The story is fantastic and Carly still solves the murders and more. I love that part of the story continues through each new addition to the series but at the same time I hate the rift it causes between Justin and Carly. I am not ready for the story to end and I hope there are more books to come in the series.

Carly is back at it gin and this time going to the mid-1940’s for her newest ghostly client. This book was a bit more spooky for me personally, as puppets rank right up there with clowns in the list of things that give me the heebie jeebies. Love how the characters are constantly evolving and how Carly keeps trying to fix the town from the curse. I can’t wait for the next one. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

A serial killer lived and died in Landover? Carly meets the supposed murdered ghost and finds that she is doubting all the rumors and accusations. She is on the case and trying to find out the truth. Did she kill or was she set up? Who killed her? Why? Another wonderful addition to this series. Good characters and a great storyline that is part of the series. Really liked book. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

This is truly a great series. I cannot wait to read the next book. The story and mystery grab and keep your attention. Plus, since it's a story in a story, you can't wait to get to the next book after the mystery is solved to see what happens next in the bigger story being told. Not to mention that each book gets better and better as you go along. Highly recommend reading.

Another well-crafted and well written mystery. The author continues to develop the main characters’ personalities, and the effort pays off with an enjoyable reading experience. Unlike in previous books in this series, there was only a brief mention of the curse that is looming over the town.

Carly does it again, all while navigating her frustrating love life and snarky ex-husband’s ghost. But we are no closer to figuring out how to end the “curse.” Can’t wait to read book 8!
