This was an incredible sequel. Despite over 10 narrators, the author managed to keep me engaged and clear on what was going on. Too often, a high number of view points leaves me confused and scrolling back through a book to remember where the heck we last left that character off. The plot was well-thought out and the ending was rewarding.
However, I think this book had a bit of pacing issues. HaiJu would spend multiple chapters setting up and posturing for an action, only for the action to be relatively small in comparison to the narrative prep time. If I summarized the plot on a piece of paper, I'd say that's one of the most engaging stories I've read this year. But stretching it out into a 600+ page epic took away some of the thrill that this book could've had.
