Mutilated snakes and a tree riddled with vile insults. This is the gruesome scene that Koyomi Araragi and Suruga Kanbaru witnessed while visiting a shrine deep in the mountains.
Behind this horror is Nadeko Sengoku, a girl who has found herself in a twisted situation with a snake god. Koyomi feels that he must save her, but can he act fast enough to free Nadeko from the deadly grip of this newest aberration?
Oh! great, whose real name is Ito Ōgure (大暮維人 Ōgure Ito) is a Japanese manga artist most recognized for the manga series Tenjho Tenge and Air Gear. In 2006, he received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen for Air Gear. Apart from working with manga, he designed some of the alternate character outfits in the PlayStation 2 version of Namco's 3D fighting game Tekken 5, and a guest character in Soul Calibur IV named Ashlotte.
His pseudonym "Oh! great" is a play on words. His pen name, written in Japanese order, is "Ōgure Ito", which is pronounced similarly to and can be romanized the same as the Japanese rendering of the English words "Oh great," ōgurēto. Furthermore, "Oh" can mean "king" in Japanese, making it possible to read the name as "the great king".
21Abr2024 "[...] No. Me equivoco. Quiere confiar en que tomaras su mano. "
With discovering the truth of what was happening to middle schooler Nadeko Sengoku, Koyomi has once again decided to try to save another girl bogged down with an aberration. This time though the aberration affecting his sister's childhood friend is a dangerous curse that could kill the shy girl if not handled. We start the book in the bookstore with Hanakawa helping Koyomi getting some college aids while discussing with him some of his flaws as she controls her own feelings (as she always does) though she and he are more than a little close much to the annoyance of at least one book store employee. However even with help from Meme things are not always what they seem as Koyomi along side Suruga try to help save Nadeko.
As always Oh! Great has brought the original story to life in vivid illustrations including a few tentacle/snake fetish pages and some images of Nadeko in danger thanks to the curse. At this point in the series if you are getting queasy by the images you are either skipping volumes or you decided to come in later on (with this being the second part of the second book) so it should not be a surprise when you see moments of partial nudity, occasional seductive posturing, and/or undergarment shots from any number of girls in this series. I for one am still mesmerized by the expressiveness of the characters as they try to figure out the world around them.
What an amazing story, it just continues to intensify and build on the last volume. As chapter four continues to play out you see the development of characters and relationships, it lulls you into a false sense of security and then snatches it all up in a moment’s notice.
