An interesting book for someone who wants to start a coaching business . This is a self improvement book and not an actual book about coaching techniques & models thus the 3/5.
In characteristic short and snappy style, Steve Chandler reminds coaches that it's the connection with a person that counts. When it comes to building a coaching practice, it's about create an awe-inspiring conversation with one person. One person at a time. Full of concise stories and insights, this is seems like a quick read on the outside but, when put into action, can yield surprisingly good results! Recommended.
Reading the book made me anticipate all the stereotype of coaching. How to work your client and how to make your client practise harder and motivation. The truth is coaching is not about the ego of the coaches but more like how would you handle the quirk and perk of your students when you are in the coaching session with them.
I loved this book. It lead me to a lot of self examination and that is a good thing. I love the writing style, I love the impact it will have in my life as I take action on it.
It was fine. Not a very actionable book. I did get a few tidbits of ideas from it. The book can be shortened to, "Stop making excuses and do it." Not a book I will recommend other coaches read in general.
I really loved this book. I would have preferred him to narrate it but the content is the same no matter who reads it. It's excellent and I have read and reread it many times and look forward to reading it again in the future.
Fairly basic. Lacking in the details that would the guidance really useful. Could still be valuable to someone very new to the field or looking for a starting point for their own strategising.
Succinct and decisive format. The author writes digestible and powerful lessons to service your own business above all. Our clients are only as good as our actions.
I saw Steve Chandler coaching live on Evercoach and it was mind-blowing what he has done in a short session of 45 min. This book is short but every single advice is so accurate. He has a great sense of humor making you laugh at lies that you consistently telling yourself.
Few favorites lies from the book: *I worry because I care (in his version we really just worry because we worry, LOL) *There is nothing I can do well, all of them are so true (or should I say so false?) =)
I like Steve Chandler. In his usual, humorous and engaging way Steve shares some great ideas for moving forward in your coaching business. Recommended reading!
I just finished reading this for the third time and realized I'd never added it to my list of finished books!! It's great. I recommend it as a companion book to The Prosperous Coach, and it's also wonderful as a standalone for any coach needing a quick reminder to get out of your own way, to stop believing it's all about you, and to remember that nothing happens outside of a conversation.
