Following the events in Mexico, former Delta Force operative Dak Harper returns to the United States with information on the whereabouts of his next target, former teammate and expert sniper Billy Trask.
Billy has taken refuge in sleepy town with a corrupt sheriff, and getting to him will be more difficult than even Dak could have anticipated.
Then trouble comes knocking.
Dak finds himself caught in the middle of something he wants nothing to do with, but can't walk away from. And when he is forced to defend an innocent woman, the blood on his hands could put everything he's worked for in jeopardy.
This is the fourth installment in the Relic Runner Origin anthology of short stories.
Ernest Dempsey is a huge fan of action/adventure thrillers and science fiction.
He has been creating stories since he was in high school but never published a book until 2010, long after the days of high school were gone.
His action & adventure books come from a lineage similar to Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Steve Berry, and James Rollins. While his science fiction novels are full of influence from Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, The Matrix movie, and Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott.
He is quickly becoming one of the hottest fiction authors in the book world.
From Mexico to Colorado Dak is on the hunt. He has saved a young so man from some drunken town bullies. Unfortunately, the bullies did not fare to well.one of those bullies was the Chief of Police's son. Dak is going to do some recon only to come across an active crime scene. Who beat him to the punch? Is Dak the hunter or the hunted? Read to find out what happens on Dak's good days. Great story. Thank you.
This is the first book in the series that I read, but I intend to read them all now. I can fully imagine the variety of psychological issues experienced by special forces ex-soldiers. The premise is believable and the story is well written, as all of Ernest Dempsey’s stories are. Believable characters too.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action and exciting adventure storys and its believable. I am now looking for book 5. I didn't think I could like some one more than Tommy and the gang until I met Dak. Thank you Mr Dempsey, you have made my Covid Lock down bearable. 😊
Who said that being a billionaire was all fun and that buying a town would allow you to survive? There is all kinds of thriller and some terrible tragedy in this book but like most of the other books, it ends with something that will attract your attention and get you to read the next one in the series.
Dempsey never fails to give you an edge of your seat read. These shorter stories introducing Dak to the fold are no exception. Left to die by his team, Dak is after revenge and has traced his next target to an abandoned ski resort. What happens next doesn't exactly follow Dak's plan but will the result be the same ......
This was very skillfully plotted. Having read the previous 3 books in this series, I thought this would be somewhat predictable. I was wrong. The author skillfully introduced some unexpected plot twists that took the story in a new and surprising direction. You will have to read the first 3 books in this series to see what I mean. Very well done by Mr Dempsey.
Another good story in this series where Dak avenges his comrades who thought they had Murdered him and left him for dead , this story and a disturbing twist at the end
This book had such interesting twists to keep you guessing at what would happen! This book did not disappoint in action and suspense with no profanity.
