Insane fight, very well drawn

Avec ce deuxième tome de La légende de Lü Bu, Shinya Umemura poursuit son exploration d’un personnage déjà mythique dans l’univers de Valkyrie Apocalypse. Ce volume s’éloigne des arènes divines pour nous plonger dans une Chine en pleine effervescence politique et militaire, où la force brute devient une monnaie de pouvoir. Plus qu’un simple récit de combats spectaculaires, ce tome approfondit la figure de Lü Bu et questionne ce que signifie être « le plus fort sur terre ».
Dans ce second tome, la puissance hors norme de Lü Bu attire toutes les convoitises. Dong Zhuo, maître de Luoyang, voit en lui l’arme ultime pour unifier la Chine sous sa domination. Mais rallier un homme comme Lü Bu ne se fait pas par la ruse ou la promesse de richesses : il faut lui offrir ce qu’il recherche par-dessus tout, un combat digne de lui. Le défi lancé est alors colossal : affronter Sun Jian, le redoutable Tigre du Jiang Dong, et surtout faire face, seul, à une armée de cent mille hommes.
Ce qui marque particulièrement dans ce volume, c’est la manière dont Lü Bu est dépeint. Il n’est pas simplement un guerrier invincible, mais un homme mû par une quête presque obsessionnelle : trouver un adversaire capable de lui tenir tête. Sa force, loin d’être une bénédiction, devient une forme de solitude. Plus il est puissant, plus le monde semble trop petit pour lui. Cette idée traverse tout le tome et donne une vraie profondeur au personnage, qui ne se bat pas pour une cause politique ou morale, mais pour ressentir enfin le frisson du danger.
Face à lui, Sun Jian incarne un autre type de force : celle d’un stratège, d’un chef charismatique porté par son armée. L’affrontement ne se résume donc pas à un simple duel, mais à un choc de visions du combat et du pouvoir. L’auteur joue habilement avec cette opposition, mettant en scène des batailles impressionnantes tout en soulignant l’absurdité et la démesure de la guerre. Les scènes d’action sont intenses, presque écrasantes, et servent à renforcer la légende de Lü Bu, présenté comme une véritable catastrophe vivante sur le champ de bataille. L’évolution des personnages est subtile mais bien présente. Lü Bu commence à prendre conscience de l’impact de sa force sur le monde qui l’entoure, même s’il reste fidèle à sa nature de combattant. Dong Zhuo, quant à lui, se révèle plus manipulateur et ambitieux, utilisant la guerre et les hommes comme de simples pions. Ce tome pose ainsi les bases de tensions futures, tout en enrichissant l’univers historique et tragique de la série.
Ce second tome est un volume puissant et intense, qui mêle combats spectaculaires et réflexion sur la force, la solitude et l’ambition. Shinya Umemura réussit à transformer un personnage déjà légendaire en une figure profondément humaine, prisonnière de sa propre puissance. Ce tome confirme l’intérêt de ce spin-off et donne envie de poursuivre l’aventure pour voir jusqu’où Lü Bu est prêt à aller pour trouver enfin un adversaire à sa hauteur.

Today I bring you the review of volume 2 of «The Legend of Lü Bu. With that said, we begin:
🐲The chapter begins with Sun Jian Wentai and the rest of the generals retreating in the presence of Lü Bu, an event that leads us to the logic regarding the rise of the generals in the three kingdoms.
The key point in consolidating these lies in the charisma and protection of the leader against his men.
🐲In the central chapters we find the main event of the volume, which is the battle of the flying general against a million men.
It is interesting to see the contrast between the generals presented, who know of Lü Bu's power, and that of the soldiers, who mock his arrogance in wanting to confront them in a duel.
🐲The logic that occurs throughout the siege is that the future einherjar will finish off each rival with a single blow of the spear. It should be noted that the fact of not backing down from anyone, a condition he set for his defeat, gives him additional conditioning.
As the last key point of this battle we find that Sun Jian Wentai himself, despite having prepared for more than thirty movements with the spear, is massacred by the technique that in the Ragnarok tournament would be known as "Devourer of the sky."
With the defeat of the Chinese leader, he is taken to Brünhilde's rooms in Valhalla, there we will learn about his past in which he will tell us about his practice with the spear since he was a child.
The story about his death at the hands of his rival, considered a dragon, leads the Valkyrie to almost confirm the flying general as one of the candidates to represent humanity in a panel in which we see Göll.
🌸Conclusion: This second volume is focused solely on a battle and the fierceness of an invincible protagonist, which can divide readers between those who wish to continue reading the title and those who do not due to knowing in advance the result of each confrontation.

The art is amazing in this volume, it’s starting to pick up and get a little better, I still think it’s missing something, the pacing is really quick, maybe too quick, but I like how it gets into things right away. I guess we just have to ignore the fact Adam is faster than the god of thunder.
