Adalina and Shane will do whatever it takes to protect their people. Even if that means working with the "enemy."

"When the cursed become mere legend and a true believer found, the key to their freedom will be presented by the descendant. Only when foregiveness is fully given and the other half found will an act of true love set their souls free. The curse shall be paid for and lifted where it all began."
Adalina continues her search on how to break the curse of the immortal pirates. At the same time they have to find the Heulwen, a mythical flower with healing properties, to save the kingdom from the deadly Kald.
It's so good to spend time with these characters again! We continue to follow Ada and Shane (siblings), and since they're often separated it's very logical. There's quite a lot of surprises and twists in this book, but being the second book in the series I can't reveal what happens! Just read it!
* I received a free copy of the book from the author and I'm giving my honest review. *
The Lost Prince is the continuation of the Nihryst series. We follow the adventures of Adalina and Lee as they travel to search for a magical flower with healing properties. Lee insists that the flower doesn’t exist, and it causes friction between the two. The flower is supposedly being held in the land where her longtime former sweetheart Michel lives, but he denies that it’s there. There’s some tension between them because she chose Lee over him right before Michel was planning to propose. Definitely some drama there. In the meantime, Adalina’s brother Shane is sick with the Kald, the sickness they are searching to cure. They’re running out of time.
What worked: The tension between Lee and Adalina kept the storyline feeling fresh, which is hard to do when you’re writing a book where they’ve already found their happiness. The author did a great job keeping the romance from falling flat. She gave them a downfall, which allowed her room to show their love growing again. The last forty percent of this book was the best part, especially after the waterfall scene. That was where it really became a gripping story. And the author doesn’t disappoint with surprises and twisty turns.
What left me wanting more: The first sixty percent of the story was slower paced and harder to get into. Their search for the flower was a bit frustrating to read about because it seemed impossible for them to find it since so many of the characters kept saying it didn’t actually exist. That gave the story a bit of a wild goose chase kind of feel.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but it does get much better, so I definitely recommend sticking with the story. The payoff is huge.
The Final Verdict: The Lost Prince takes you on an adventure through a magical world filled with danger, unexpected outcomes, love, and second chances. Watching the legends in this book connect with reality is a treat you won’t forget for a long time to come.
I received The Lost Prince by Cait Marie for free by the author in exchange for an honest review. This review is also available on my blog Book, Blog and Candle: https://www.bookblogandcandle.co.uk/p...
The Lost Prince by Cait Marie is the exciting sequel to The Lost Legends which I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing earlier this year! If you haven't already my review for The Lost Legends is available to read here. I've been so excited for this sequel and it has been worth the wait!
In the sequel, we join our favourite crew again as they embark on a quest to find a cure for the illness that is plaguing the Kingdom as well as trying to find more clues to break the curse on Lee and the rest of the pirates. Ada, our true believer protagonist, is convinced that the mythical flower - The Heulwen - will be able to cure the kingdom but their chase might uncover some dangerous secrets along the way!
I loved watching the characters grow so much from the first book yet still be the same characters that we know and love at heart! Ada is still stubborn, Lee is as charming as ever and their relationship is so sweet, I loved seeing it develop. Additionally I loved the development of a new relationship on the horizon starting to blossom - I won't spoil it but I will say that I shipped it from the first book and I am so happy it is coming true!
Cait is an amazing writer that creates fantastic stories that are entertaining, easy to read and full of dramatic action. She has the ability to make you gasp, laugh out loud and even break your heart. Tangled is one of my favourite films and Cait has worked magic with this retelling, I am obsessed! I'm so excited to read more from this series!
I absolutely loved this book! It was fabulous! The story was amazing and builds so well from the second book! It took some unexpected turns and I really just loved all the character development! And somethings turned out exactly the way I hoped they would. It was wonderful world building and story telling, Cait Marie did a fantastic job with this and if there is another coming in the series than I really can’t wait to read it!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great sequel! Ada is still fierce and focused. Shane is working tirelessly as his symptoms worsen. Phillip is there with and for both of the siblings again in beautiful ways. Lee is stubborn and afraid of losing Ada. Gwyn continues to be such a strong character.
The book brings you right into the action, intrigue, and relationships without making you review the last book for chapters - it gives you the right amount of reminders of what happened if you read the first one a while ago though.
The characters feel true to how they were introduced in book 1 while growing in some way keeping things fresh.
The epilogue sets you up for a third book in the series without a massive cliffhanger. You get closure on certain storylines but are left excited for the next installment!
I loved the first book and this second book is every bit as enjoyable. Once again we join Princess Adalina and her pirates on their latest challenge, their journey to break the curse. The storyline is exciting and entertaining and I found myself drawn into this incredible world again with these amazing characters and I felt as if I was right there alongside them! Adventure, action, secrets and twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat, I could not put this down!

Great continuation to the first book! This is easily becoming one of my favorite book sagas ever! I love following these amazing characters through their adventures.
This book broke my heart in a million pieces. I could really feel what the characters where going through and it felt like I was there with them. I won’t go into much detail to avoid spoilers but the scene with Ada, Lee, Brienne and Ren was beautifully written and it hurt in a way I wasn’t expecting.
I love Phillip and Shane’s relationship! It’s so cute and wholesome… The fact that Shane didn’t even once feel uncomfortable because of Phillip’s feelings for him and that he just accepted them and just started thinking about his own feelings made me extremely happy. No toxic masculinity or homophobia, just surprise for not having realized sooner and acceptance of a person he loves -it doesn’t matter if it’s romantic or platonic love.
Despite dealing with the same themes we saw in the first book, the story isn’t repetitive or tedious, on the contrary, the author manages to keep the story fresh and interesting, always leaving you wanting more. We see our beloved characters grow and mature but still maintain their wonderful personalities we fell in love with in the previous book.
Let me just say that Cait Marie has a true gift for writing. Those plot twists! While half-way the first book I expected Lee to be Loxley, this time every plot twist took me by surprise and I loved discovering everything at the same time as the characters, it immersed me in the story making the experience even more real.
Before I gush about the quality of this sequel, let me remind you about the fantastic first novel in this series. The Lost Legends was an amazing adventure with pirates, plague, and romance sprinkled along the way. The character build was amazing. The legend created with the Nihyrst was intriguing and thought-provoking. Book two, The Lost Prince builds the legend while pulling heartstrings. I am incredibly invested in the characters, so every peril was a gut-wrenching, nail-biter! If you are looking for a new obsession, READ THESE BOOKS! I'm longing to know what happens in the next book already, but until it's released, I'll be re-reading and obsessing about Phillip, Shane, Ada, and Loxley, while imagining what the epilogue implies for the future... **I recieved an ARC of this book**
Holy. Freaking. Cow. This book had me on the edge of my seat--or my bed--the entire time I was reading. Every chapter reveals a new OMG moment and it's done so brilliantly I can't stop thinking about it. Ada... oh Ada, how she has grown in this book. She'll do anything for her brother and for Lee. She's strong willed and also just plain strong. She's my favorite character because she doesn't even let the immortals push her around.
Shane's storyline, particularly his love story, had me squealing quite a bit. It was so perfect.
Our sexy immortal, Loxley. He infuriated me at times being the stubborn man he is, but he came through when it mattered.
Let's talk about that ending for a sec. No spoilers, but what?! Can't do me like that.
THE LOST PRINCE opens up where the first one left off. Ada is with Lee searching for a cure to the Kald and trying to determine what part she plays in breaking the curse of the Nihryst. Their journey will take her back to her the man she thought she would marry. However, finding the cure won't be easy, if it even exists and all Lee wants to do is focus on the curse.
While Ada is searching the seas, Shane is home trying to find a cure on his end and pick up the pieces of their kingdom that they're father shattered. The only problem is that he's infected too and finds himself growing weaker and weaker. When he starts having hallucinations, those around him grow more worried about how long Shane will last. With Phillip and Gwyn at his side, he has the support system to do impossible things. Yet, as Shane grows sicker, he can't help but think his hallucinations are pointing to something bigger.
Ada, Lee, and Shane are all connected through a web and will need each other to defeat the Kald and break the curse on the Nihryst. However, things grow shaky between Lee and Ada as the cure seems to be another fairytale. You can only go in circles for so long before losing hope. Thankfully, Ada isn't one to back down or give up on anything.
THE LOST PRINCE is a fantasy YA novel full of betrayal, secrets, romance, and adventure that will leave you eager for the third. These characters have grown on me so much. I love how strong Ada is. I love how loyal Phillip is. I love how strong Shane is. I love how fierce Lee is. THE LOST PRINCE will grab ahold of your heart and make you believe that fairytales can come true.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this to any fantasy readers who are looking for an intriguing read where following your heart can take you anywhere. I'm so excited for the third one!
The hunt for the Heulwen, the flower of legends with incredible healing powers, grows in urgency as Kald spreads around the kingdom. The journey uncovers many secrets, deep feelings, and hidden plans; it leads to shocking betrayals and more shocking revelations. Loxley's legacy increases in importance as forgotten truths resurface, but even the Lost Prince's intervention might not be enough to save some lives.. and time is ticking. The second book in the series was even better than the first one. There was so much going on, lots of adventures, trials, challenges, all intertwined with a relationship that might explode here and there thanks to the tempers of the lovers, and a relationship that complicates all royal matters. The true intentions and real personalities of some characters come as a complete surprise and cause the plot to twist in an unforeseen direction. Ada's actions show that she is the princess not only in title but also in her heart, and her sharp wit may lead to breaking the curse - or raising more questions than before. This is a brilliantly written series that takes my breath away and has all the elements that fairytale lover in me seeks - when this is over, I'll be sad to see the characters go.
The Lost Prince is the sequel to The Lost Legends, where we followed Ada and Shane on two separate adventures to save their kingdom, both of which I enjoyed immensely.
The Lost Prince continues that tradition with Ada setting off on another quest to locate the flower with Lee and his men. Shane stays in Detmarya, taking up his place as king after the events in The Lost Legends.
The book switches back and forth between Ada and Shane’s POV so if you have a hard time following multiple character POVs this book may not be for you.
Both Shane and Ada face their own challenges in this sequel, making it just as exciting to follow as its prequel.
This book is sooooo good!! The story is so original and the writing is amazing! It has all the ingredients for an excellent fantasy book, a princess, an immortal warrior, an evil villain and a little romance. I am really looking forward to the third book in the Nihryst series.
Searching for a magical flower and following Lee and Adalina. Tension between them because does it actually exist? Enter Adalina’s ex and MORE tension all while trying to save her sick brother! Nice read(:
Adalina and Shane are dealing with a shattered kingdom. When their only hope is a mythical flower, Adalina sets sail again in search of it while Shane tries to fix the kingdom. But secrets will come to light, and things may be too broken to repair.
Book Two has proven to be better than book one! Adalina's character has grown so much since the start of her journey, and she just continues to get better as her story goes on. I love her and Shane, and the adventures she finds herself in are exciting.
I'm dying to know how this series concludes, and book three can't get here fast enough!
I loved book one ("The Lost Legends") of this series, so I was sure I'd enjoy "The Lost Prince" just as much... I think I liked it even more! There's still that jolt you have to give yourself when you stop reading to bring yourself back to the real world (reluctantly!), a fantabulous story, great writing... and I still want to be Adalina!!
My thanks to the author. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.
Once again Cait delivers on a wild ride! The characters we fell in love with in book one are back and at it again for book two! The siblings still trying to save their people. Filled with magic and mystery this story doesn’t miss a beat. Drawn in by the beautiful cover? You won’t be disappointed picking this book up! Just make sure you’ve read The Lost Legends first! This author has proven she has the ability to weave engaging, nail-biting, fall-in-love-with stories time and time again. Read the rest of her work when you're done with this!
I didn’t think I could love this series any more than I already did. I was wrong.
In this instalment of ‘The Nihryst’ series, we continue on from the events of book 1 as Ada travels to find the healing flower. The events in this book were beyond exciting and had me gasping at times where I couldn’t believe what was happening! There were times I had to wipe tears from my eyes. I was very emotionally gripped with this read, and I can’t wait to read the next book!
Our characters had such amazing development during this book. I honestly could not love Shane any more after this. I won’t say any more about him because you need to read it and have all the feels also.
Cait Marie has not failed to impress me with this second book. I’m excited to see how she can top this with the third!
Cait Marie has done it again with another amazing book. The first one introduced all the characters and gave an amazing set up for the series. It created a path for future books to take that are adventurous and enjoyable.
That is how this second book was. It was full of just that, adventure and excitement. We started out a little slow in the beginning, but once the book started to pick up I did not want to put it down. This book brought together some of my favorite aspects of fantasy between pirates, more lore and tales. It kept the characters from the first book true to their stories. It continued on with the stories that were started in the first book and brought some new stories into the picture.
I ended up reading it so quickly so I would know what happened. It created an enjoyable atmosphere for me to dive into. I enjoyed every minute of reading the book. There were many times I would gasp and say "Oh No" to the book and at one part I almost cried. I enjoyed all the different emotions I experienced while reading this book. When I got closer to the end of the book I knew I had to finish it right away because the action filled scenes would not let me put it down. The book was a real page turner and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an action filled fantasy book. I can't wait for the next book to come out because it is going to be just as good as this one was.
I 100% recommend everyone read the first book and then this book. It is such a page turner if you love pirates and fantasy all mixed into one. I give "The Lost Prince" a 5/5 stars because of the way the book was written and how well it stayed true to the first one. I would also recommend reading other books by Cait Marie because her writing talents are seen throughout all of her books.
In the Lost Prince, the reader goes on another adventure with Ada, Lee and the crew, Shane, Philip, Gwyn and the others. The title immediately sparked my curiosity, and yes, while searching not only for the Heulwen but also for a way to break the curse, a third fairy tale is introduced bit by bit. And if you have learnt anything after the Lost Legends, it is that you cannot simply dismiss these fairy tales as storytelling and nonsense.
Different story elements are nicely interwoven and come together into a cohesive whole. The main characters from the previous book also return, which makes the reader empathise with them even more. You gradually start to feel as if you are part of the same world.
Ada is and often remains just as oblivious as in the previous book, yet she never gives up and keeps searching for clues and solutions. The yes/no dynamic that sometimes plays out between her and Lee made me roll my eyes a few times, with the difference that they continue to speak to and listen to each other. I really appreciate this, too often in other books characters stay mad at each other unnecessarily and everything goes wrong because of a stupid misunderstanding that could easily have been avoided.
There were also some minor plottwists that I did not see coming, which kept me hooked. The writing style is also very fluent, which makes it easy to be drawn into the story and to keep on reading.
I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the third and final part of this trilogy. For people who can't get enough of The Nihryst I would definitely recommend the short stories in between, they give nice new insights into the past of different people.
I received an advanced copy of this book for review.
Thank you to Cait for providing me an early copy of the book to beta read.
I have been waiting (impatiently) to get my hands on a copy of this book since I read the last words of The Lost Legends (book #1). So of course I leaped at the chance to beta read this, and was definitely not disappointed.
While The Lost Legends was an awesome, five star read for me, this book falls into the pattern I've noted in many series where the second book is even better than the first. The action starts early, which I appreciated greatly. The format allows us to get a deeper understanding of the characters, learning more about their back stories and motivations, and I loved seeing where their individual paths lead.
While there was plenty of closure in the last book, there was a little bit of a cliffhanger, and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. This book gave me answers, which is what I needed (not just wanted). Although there were plenty of answers in the book, there was a similar ending to this book as well, so I was obviously left wanting more.
Overall, this book had everything - shocking plot twists, humor, romance, action, and emotional parts that made me tear up. It's even better than I could have hoped for, and I highly recommend it.
I absolutely love Ada and Lee and was so excited to get back into their world. This book did not disappoint! It was full of twists, action, and romance just as the first one was.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
I was a little delayed in finishing this, but I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And honestly, I enjoyed it!
Overall, I found this book to be interesting and a good story! I really enjoy Ada as a character, and seeing Shane’s growth as a character in book two was so sweet. And Phillip! Ugh such a sweetheart. Lee kind of annoyed me in this book at times but that was more cause he was being a dummy when clearly Ada knows what’s up.
I loved that there were so many ups and downs in this book, it kept you hooked in and the storyline is super interesting. I can’t say too much without leaving spoilers, as my favourite parts of the book were towards the end lol. Just trust me when I say that it’s definitely worth the read!
I’m rating this book a 4/5 for a few reasons, but I feel overall the book was good and shouldn’t be passed up! Most of my reasons are probably more because I’m a picky reader and it’s personal preference lol.
First off, I found that the issues Ada and Shane faced sometimes seemed a little too easy…like there could have been more to some of the scenes. You’d have this crazy emotional thing happen that should be a pretty significant part of the story, but it’s done an over with after a page or two. It just seemed a little too rushed and simple at some spots, and I feel the author lost out on some good opportunities for character growth and story progression because of it.
Like with the first book, I found the prologue to be a little odd and would’ve preferred it as a first chapter. Obviously not a huge deal but something that’s sticking in my brain for some reason lol
I also felt like a lot of times you were just told things through dialogue rather than learning about them through characters memories or discovering it with the character etc. The dialogue is very good, but I feel like the descriptive story telling was a little lacking at times as a result. These books are very dialogue heavy, which isn’t really a big issue but I feel it leaves the story lacking in some spots in the long run.
I think in some cases the story was a little predictable, but that could definitely be said about the majority of books these days so also a pretty minor thing.
All in all though, definitely an improvement from the first book and a very good read! I will be picking up the 3rd and looking forward to seeing how Cait wraps up this story, as at this point I’m honestly not sure where she’ll take us next!
AHHHH! This series just gets better. In "The Lost Prince," Cait Marie weaves a captivating tale of mythical intrigue, fractured kingdoms, and unyielding determination. Set against the backdrop of a band of pirates plagued by a curse, the story follows the courageous siblings, Adalina and Shane, as they embark on a perilous journey to save their loved ones and their people.
At the heart of the narrative lies the enigmatic quest for a mythical healing flower imbued with powers from the sun. Despite the flower's existence being dismissed as mere legend, Adalina's unwavering resolve leads her to pursue this glimmer of hope, even if it means collaborating with unlikely allies.
The author skillfully entwines themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and redemption throughout the narrative, as Adalina and Shane navigate treacherous waters both figuratively and literally. As Ada embarks on her quest with a crew of pirates, Shane grapples with the responsibility of holding their kingdom together in her absence, uncovering dark secrets that threaten to unravel their world.
With deft prose and rich world-building, Cait Marie creates a vivid tapestry of adventure and intrigue that will keep readers eagerly turning pages. The characters are multifaceted and relatable, each grappling with their own demons and motivations, adding depth and complexity to the narrative.
"The Lost Prince" is a spellbinding tale that will appeal to fans of fantasy and adventure alike. As Adalina and Shane navigate the twists and turns of their journey, readers are swept along on a thrilling ride filled with magic, mystery, and unexpected revelations. Ultimately, this enchanting story serves as a reminder of the enduring power of hope, courage, and the bonds of family in the face of adversity. I can't wait to start Book 3!!!
Princess Adalina has set off on a new adventure with Lee and his crew, in an attempt to break their curse. They are also trying to find more supplies to slow the effects of the Kast, a terrible, so far incurable disease that is diminishing their kingdom as well as those that surround it. Back in Detmarya, Ada’s older brother Shane has stepped into the role of king after the betrayal of their father. The book alternates between the first person POVs of Shane and Ada, so the reader knows what is happening on Lee’s ship and in the kingdom of Detmarya at the same time. There is some angst between Lee and Ada in this one, as Lee struggles to learn how to let Ada into all aspects of his life after trusting no one outside of his crew for so long. Shane also faces inner turmoil as he fights the effects of the Kast that is draining his strength. This novel was so nice, as it builds up quite nicely from the first. The humor was pure gold, and the action was incredible. This is a young adult fantasy you don’t want to miss!!!
I received a copy of this book from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am part of Cait Marie's ARC team, and was sent this book electronically in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. I am HIGHLY enjoying this series- it's impossible to stop reading once you pick it up, so make sure you don't have much on your to-do list for the day! The Lost Prince follows the events of The Lost Legends, and was set up very nicely by the first book. Shane and Adalina continue to fight against evils threatening their kingdom and their lives, and the importance of stories and legends remains a prominent aspect, which I love.
The plot twists in this book were very well done, the romances are lovely, and Ada's and Shane's characters remain brave and unflinching in the face of so many struggles. The pacing is well done, the adventures are just as exciting as those of the first book, and readers get to know the characters even more deeply. I am looking forward to reading the third book in this series!
Wow! What a book! This book is filled with more twists and turns, secrets and stories than I would've thought possible, and the intricacy in weaving it all together into a coherent whole is incredible. I said the first book seemed targeted at a younger audience but I take it back, this book gets much darker and more intense, and less predictable as well. The characters feel very real and I love the development they go through and their interactions with each other, especially seeing their growing relationships. This was a great read that I couldn't put down, and I'm super excited to see where the story goes next! Thoroughly recommend!
*I was given a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review*
This world!! These characters!!! I am obsessed!!! The Lost Prince is the perfect sequel to The Lost Legends! If you like action packed adventure entwined with magic, folk lore, drama, prophecy, destiny, war, & romance this is the world for you! The characters are addicting & their takes original. I have enjoyed getting to know them & their pasts while watching them evolve into the true warriors we heard about. They are diverse in every way with different backgrounds you’d never imagine, & each of them pulled my heart strings in different ways. The feels are very real here. Thank goodness book 3 is in the works because I need more NOW!
