SPIDERWEB begins in Monmouth, Oregon, in the fall of 1971, with the trial of Russ Adams, Renee’s former fiancé, with Renee and her six friends testifying for the prosecution. After the trial, they gradually drift apart, ending up losing the strong connection they had shared in the previous books, ALLEYCAT and YEAR OF THE PIG. Thirty years pass before they meet up once again, in the diner where it all began on that cold January night when they were college students. Where have they all ended up? Who stayed in touch and who fell off the radar? And does Renee finally get free of Russ?SPIDERWEB concludes the story of Renee and Russ, and the friends she met in college while he was away for a year. In the first book, ALLEYCAT, Renee faces his abusive treatment and with the support of her friends, confronts him. But he doesn’t accept what he thinks of as desertion and in YEAR OF THE PIG he returns from overseas and tries to convince her to come back to him. The final confrontation shows her how strong she is and enables her to be the authentic person she chooses.All three books explore the themes of friendship and relationships from platonic to romantic. Story lines include issues of mental health, addiction, abuse, and love.
