A divorcee who's turned her back on romance meets an open-hearted widower. Can a fake date lead to true love?
All she wants is a quiet New Year's Eve…
Helen plans to ring in the New Year in front of the TV with a bowl of popcorn on her lap, until her adult daughters show up. They won't let her spend another New Year's Eve alone. What's a mother to do but tell a little white lie—that she already has a date for the evening.
Then the Pizza Man arrives…
Helen knows Nick from her visits to his pizzeria. His smile always brightens her day. He didn't know he'd be stepping in as her 'date' for New Year's Eve, but he's not complaining.
Helen learned the hard way that she's done with romance. But spending time with Nick makes her wonder if there's a second chance for her after all—if she can only open her heart.
Read all of the Holidays in Applewood series by Christie Logan!
Christie Logan writes sweet romance straight from the heart. She lives in upstate New York with too many pets, too many dust bunnies lurking under the bed, and too many plot bunnies bouncing around in her head. She thinks everyone deserves a happy ending and in her books, everyone gets one.
Dear Acquaintance is Book 2 of Christie Logan's Holidays in Applewood series. No need to read this in order as it stands perfectly fine on its own.
This story was a very sweet romance that I finished very quickly. While I typically prefer stories to have at least some steam to them and this one falls in the "I'm not even sure they held hands" category, it drew me in and kept me engaged throughout.
My one wish for this story is that it could have been longer. I would have loved it for it to be twice or even three times as long and there could have been more development of their relationship.
Holidays in Applewood Series: I really enjoyed these two short stories and look forward to more books by Ms. Logan. These sweet, clean books were well written with nice people full of caring and sharing. Perfect for reading during a coffee break or curled on the sofa with a cuppa and a pet.
Dear Acquaintance #2 - A lovely, sweet and heartwarming short story. This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed this delightful story. Set on New Year's Eve, this is a well written, quickly read short with two interesting, older main characters and several supporting characters, all likable and real. There a chance of a second love for both and they're willing to try. 4*
A Gentle Heart #3 - I enjoyed this story as much if not more than Dear Acquaintance. Lovely, heartwarming and filled with some very special main characters. There's even a character or two from Dear. All the characters are real and likable, especially his mother. There are three nasty characters of which one is a real piece of work. The journey through the pages keeps the reader immersed in the story, leaving a smile at the end of the last page. I'm sorry I don't have the first book of this series to read. 4*

This is the second book in this series that I have read but I started with number three these are well-written stories with a lot of good feeling. Helen has to learn to let go of the past and move forward. When her daughter wants her to go out she says she has a date just then Nick delivers her pizza. Reading how these two spend New Year's Eve made this story for me. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I can't decide if I like this or not. It's sweet and the characters are great, but the whole story spans just a few hours of one night. And it takes much less than that to read. I'm left wishing we knew more. Even if it's more of their past of just being acquaintances, seeing how that forms and their thoughts of each other then. For what it is, it's well written, just be prepared to be done with it in less than a half hour.
She had enough of men and she was happy to spend new year she alone at home but her adult children arrive. They will not allow her to spend it alone so she lies about having a date. She knows the pizza man and she asks him for a fake date. Can a fake date turn to deal love? Follow them to see

Heartwarming New Years Eve Tale This is a heartwarming tale of a New Year's Eve date between survivors that goes incredibly right. It will warm your heart and fill your soul. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
Super short, beautifully written story. It's not so much a romance as the desire to start a relationship... a letting go of fear and moving on with life. Very touching and very hopeful.

An Enjoyable Quick Read I voluntarily reviewed an arc copy of this book. This is a really enjoyable, entertaining book from Christie Logan. I liked the well written storyline and the great characters, I found it an enjoyable, must read book
Christie Logan captured my interest for the Love in Applewood series when I read book 1 A Real Christmas. I failed to notice this was a short story. I like Helen in book 1, so was hoping to follow through on her romance with the pizza delivery guy. Not sure I will continue with the series.
A short story of a New Years Eve day for a woman not looking for love. Her plans were changed by her kids, but went on in an unexpected turn. Good clean romance.
