Bookworm #0.5

Free Fall

Rate this book
What’s the perfect vacation for a book lover? A week at a romance convention, of course.
I have my best friend, a stack of books, and my favorite authors.
What could be better?
How about a steamy fling with a tall, dark, and handsome stranger?
Yes, please.
Life is short, you have to take advantage of every moment you’re given.
I plan on taking advantage of every moment I have with Miles Harris.
I may only get to keep him for a week, but I’m going to make enough memories to last a lifetime.

You know what they say, the best part of a relationship is the Free Fall.

Free Fall is a Bookworm Novella. It is a prequel to Downfall and follows the journey of Miles and Lily and how they met.

Shae Scott is a contemporary romance writer who loves to write stories that turn real life into fairytales. She loves a story that makes you believe that real romance can happen when you least expect it.

Shae was born a southern girl and her accent comes out when she’s excited or drinking. Now, she lives just outside of Kansas City with a boy she met on vacation in California, her tiny dog and the most well-mannered cat around. When she’s not writing, she’s usually reading or watching true crime documentaries. She loves podcasts, deep discussions about nothing, all bodies of water, fried pickles, tree tunnels, and animals of all kinds.

She also loves to talk to her readers. Connect with her anytime:

4⭐
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ Bookworm #0.5
Setting ~ San Francisco, California
Publication date ~ August 13, 2020
Est Page Count ~ 90 (8 chapters)
POV ~ dual 1st, present tense
Featuring ~ out of town fling, minimal steamage

Lily (22) & Miles meet a book convention. She's on a girl's trip with her bff, Quinn, and he's there with his author brother, Keaton.

They have an instant attraction, but she lives in Missouri and he lives in New York, so this can't be more than a fling. Or can it?

Overall, this was fine as a prequel, since I know their story will continue. It was a good introduction to their characters and how they got to know each other for a couple of days. There's a little bit of steamage, but not too much for the length of the book.

Series note:
This is the prequel for the Bookworm series. Book 1 will continue Quinn and Keaton's story, and book 2 will continue Lily & Miles's story.

After reading "On Paper" by the same author, I chose this novella not realizing it was the prequel to the best friend's story. Lily is a bit of a wild child, a live for the moment character and her connection with Miles is instantaneous as well as exciting. "On Paper" focuses mainly on the relationship between her best friend Quinn & Miles's brother Keaton, with Lily & Miles often as a side story, so I feel I've already read the beginning of their tale, with just different POV's. Hence the three stars. I do however think I'll read Lily's story, it should be interesting given her wild character, but will put that one off to the side for now.

I am hooked

I knew this was a short book. I knew this was going to open my world to a new author. But let me tell you, this one caught me totally unprepared. So good and so addicting and I can not wait to read EVERYTHING!!
I love reading about book conventions because that’s exactly how I found this author. I am going to a big event and had an author list. What a great ride!! I definitely need more and I need to read the rest of their story. Lily and Miles have more than 80%!!! Loved it

This is just a short little blurt into a world that I would like to live in.

Like...excuse me...this was so good?

Usually I bite into a cinnamon roll and spit it out...never spicy enough but this man...THIS MAN. UGH.

I want to read more. I look forward to reading more. It feels like such a tease (but I know there is a whole book to read about these two)UGH.

So damn good.

One of the Great Romances I've Read This Year

I've real a LOT of romance novels this year and this one had a bittersweet cliff hangar that has me wanting more. Will I read more of Shae Scott's work? Oh, ABSOLUTELY.
