The Playing Series is a New Adult football romance series set in the world of the Boston Militia football team. If you love sizzling bad boys, second chance or enemies-to-lovers romance with all the feels and angst right up to the satisfying happy endings, you'll love this set of stories! (Contains sex and language for mature audiences.)
I know I keep saying it but OMG‼️‼️‼️ Stephanie you did again, another TOUCH DOWN‼️ Each of these boos are a must read all football 🏈 lovers! I was honoured to be a part of the reader team!! Can you tell I am a super fan, haha. I am a diehard football fan so this series is close to my heart. Each player has his own story and challenges! Not all jocks are brainless muscle bound jerks😀. I am trying not o be repetitive but...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT‼️‼️‼️ Please be aware there is some sex and language but it is not just filler and does not detract from the story. I highly recommend this book! I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.
Fantastic story! I love the characters in this story. Hunter is a true knight in shining armor, willing to lose everything to protect the weak, and Cat battles for justice like a lioness. The story has a wonderful plot with lots of drama and steamy romance. There were some good messages along with sports and romance.
I haven't read the other two books in the set yet, but if they are anything like this one I know I will enjoy them. Stephanie Queen is my go-to author when I want sizzling sports romance.
Phew, this book series is a steamy one, there are way more sports between the sheets as opposed to actual sports and sexual shenanigans that make the reader hot under the collar. Many of the things I have to say about each of the books in this series are similar, but I have written out a little review for each of them.
Playing for the money When Cat and Hunter meet there is an instant connection, something that neither of them can ignore, but their situation means that a relationship is impossible, and they struggle to restrain their overwhelming feelings and maintain a professional relationship. I’ll admit the insta-connection didn’t really do it for me and I found the whole speediness of Cat and Hunter’s relationship a little eye-roll-inducing. Still, I did like that Cat, she was a strong female lead and, while she may have had many knee-wobbling moments when interacting with Hunter, she holds her own with dignity, enjoying her career and having way more about her than how she is drawn to Hunter. Hunter himself is a rough diamond, putting up all the walls to protect his heart, but he cannot hide the softness in his character and Queen writes him wonderfully. This story is all about not giving up on the good in someone no matter how much they push you away. It has an uplifting message that I really appreciated and while this normally wouldn’t be my cup of tea, I recommend it to anyone that wants a feel-good romance that is soft and sensual in equal measure and is all about love overcoming all the obstacles life manages to stick in the way.
Playing for Love – I have to say that I didn’t enjoy this story as much, I think it’s the whole Mia and Gabe having an attraction but then Denise, being Gabe’s girlfriend and Mia’s friend sort of standing between them. I am not really into this sort of story line and I think that’s probably why I didn’t enjoy this as much, especially with the whole making Denise out to be not as good a girlfriend to them make it okay for Mia and Gabe to have this attraction to each other. But I don’t want to be too harsh because this might be someone else’s cup of tea and in spite of all the stuff I didn’t like Queen is still a solid writer in this genre and once again writes compelling characters. She Is a genius at sexual tension, and I did think at times that I could cut the air around my kindle with a knife. This story was full heated glances and have-sex-with-me subtext and if that’s your deal then you will definitely enjoy this. I did find their relationship a little bit more believable than the first story, even if I didn’t agree with it, simply because they already sort of knew each other and had a connection through an acquaintance. In that way, it didn’t feel like romantic whiplash when they felt a connection. Once again this might not be my cup of tea, but Queens writing is witty, and her characters are interesting. Queen clearly knows her craft and in spite of my personal preferences with regards to the story, it is a good romance.
Playing for Keeps – Now I have to admit, while not an avid fan of this sort of romance I do like myself a good enemies-to-lovers story, can’t help it, I have no idea why but there you go. Maybe its something to do with all the sexual tension that is usually in those stories and as already stated, I think several times, Queen is quite literally the queen of sexual tension. Out of all the stories in this series though this was my favourite and Tate and Chloe were some of my favourite characters. They both had an edge to their characters that I just lapped up I guess and there was a bite to their interactions that was just really fun to read and added to the spice (I know what even is that sentence, killing myself laughing at my own review). They really do have the sort of sparring in their dialogue that I love reading in the enemies-to-lovers stories and I adored the way Queen wrote them sort of dancing around each other and trying to outmanoeuvre each other. I would say with this book, it sort of felt like Chloe’s and Tate’s animosity towards each other felt a little bit, I don’t know, manufactured. I mean duh, it’s a story so there is the whole it’s made up anyway, but it just didn’t feel natural. Especially when on their first meeting there are still those sparks between them, it just doesn’t feel like they got to know each other and began to change their views about each other but more like they finally give in to that insta-connection that is present all the way through this series. This, however, is just my personal opinion and does not detract from the fun and romance of this series. Queen really has written some wonderful characters and told some fluffy sexy stories that are enjoyable to read. All in all, I enjoyed reading this series. It’s not normally what I would go for, but Queen has penned some wonderful characters among the backdrop of the sporting world. If you like fun, if you like sexy, with plenty of sparks flying, enough to light several campfires in the loins or various other places, this is the series for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this set of three books in Queen’s ‘Playing Series’, each one is a full sports romance novel set in the world of the Boston Militia football team. As the novels contain adult themes and steamy scenes they are intended for adults 18+. ‘Playing for the Money’ is a bad boy sports romance centred around NFL bad boy Hunter Quintanna and his coach's daughter, Cat. Hunter is desperate to keep his contract with the Boston Militia as he needs the money to support his Mum and siblings but when he meets Cat, the very off limits daughter of his coach he finds it hard to keep his hands to himself. When Cat became bad boy Hunter’s handler to turn around his reputation she definitely did not expect to loose her heart to him. As much as Hunter & Cat try to keep their relationship professional their sizzling connection can not be ignored. I loved Cat and Hunter and their chemistry sizzled off the page, I was cheering them on hoping they would get their happy ever after.
Novel two, ‘Playing for Love’ has a more second chance at love feel to it and having been introduced to the world of the Boston Militia in book one I was looking forward to being back amongst the team. Superstar NFL quarterback Gabriel Wyatt loves football but unfortunately his girlfriend does not and has moved to Atlanta. Things get more complicated when his girlfriend asks him to show her best friend Mia around Boston. Mia turns out to be the girl from Gabe’s college days who he kept at arms length so that a relationship would not compromise his football career. The more time they spend together the crush that they had on each other four years ago develops into something more. Another wonderfully written sports romance by Stephanie Queen who has developed a great world surrounding the Boston Militia and one which she makes come alive. The main characters are likeable and relatable and the storyline is full of romance, angst and drama which had me hooked from beginning to end.
‘Playing for Keeps’, has a enemies to lovers storyline and introduces us to Tate and Chloe. Tate Fontanna is a footballer or as Chloe refers to him as, a ‘jock’ and Chloe Smith is a sports reporter who Tate looks at as being dangerous. Tate believes Chloe is just after a story and can not be trusted whilst Chloe thinks Tate is a player. However neither can deny their instant attraction to the other or the sizzling chemistry between them. Tate needs to avoid bad press as his contract is up for renewal but ignoring the ambitious Chloe is harder than he thinks and Chloe also starts to see Tate in a different light until a scandal erupts and Tate finds out if he can really trust Chloe or not. I loved the banter between Tate and Chloe and how they had to overcome their initial thoughts about one another to develop a relationship. Both characters are likeable and realistic and the author has a way of making the reader feel engaged with them. Tate and Chloe’s chemistry really came across in the narrative, and this led to some sexy scenes. The plot had enough going on in it to keep me happily turning the pages and I felt immersed in the world of the Boston Militia once again.
I ‘binge read’ the three novels, each one can be read as a standalone story although they are all set in the same world and the characters do crossover. Although each novel was an enjoyable read, the stories did take me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading them. Despite all the angst and all the emotions each story in the series is guaranteed a happy and satisfying ending.
Are you sad that sports events this year haven’t been the norm? Are you a romance reader? Do you like the bad boy type romances, the second chance romances, the enemies to lovers romances? All three? Well then do I have a series for you! Playing Series 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen hits all 3 of those types of romance books.
Playing for the Money: a Bad Boy Sports Romance
Hunter Quintanna is a bad boy. But not in the way you are thinking. He has the worst reputation in the football league. Circumstances have him switching to a new team across the country where he meets Cat Marini, his new coach’s daughter, and official “handler”. Trying to stay under the radar and get through the season, the last thing Hunter needs is to find his new handler attractive. Cat can’t resist the pull between her and Hunter. But will they both be willing to risk it all for a chance at love?
Playing for Love: a Second Chance Sports Romance
Gabriel Wyatt is the Quarterback for the Boston Militia and football is his life, much to the dismay of his long-distance girlfriend who’s not a fan. Mia Lane is his girl’s best friend who has just moved to Boston. Tasked with helping Mia get settled, Gabriel must fight his attraction to the ER nurse. Mia made a promise to her bestie. To keep an eye on Gabe and make sure he is being faithful. But how can she do that when she’s fighting her own attraction to the star quarterback? Can these two overcome their obstacles and find love together?
Playing for Keeps: an Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance
Any publicity is good publicity, isn’t that what they say? Not for Tate Fontanna. He has a true hate/hate relationship with the media after the circus surrounding his uncle’s death. Now in the final season of his contract, with negotiations on the horizon, Tate can’t afford any bad press. Chloe Smith is a news reporter with a purpose. She needs a “good story” to show she is as good of a reporter as her legendary father. After overhearing a juicy tidbit about the Boston Militia linebacker, Chloe thinks she may have her story. But how far will she be willing to go after meeting Tate? Can these two put their ire aside and accept the feelings blooming between them?
As a new reader of Stephanie Queen, I was pleasantly surprised by this box series. Add the fact that I’m not a big sports fan and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy these books as much as I did. Ms. Queen uses witty humor, angst, chemistry, and interesting character attributes to draw the reader into her books. The sports theme isn’t overdone and unbearable for a non-sports fan. Overall, all three books were entertaining and enjoyable to read. I would definitely recommend picking up this series and giving it a go!
Playing For Love: a Second Chance Sports Romance - Boston Militia Quarterback, Gabriel Wyatt, and ER Nurse, Mia Lane, have an undeniable attraction. The problem? His girlfriend, Denise, is her best friend. Denise, hates football and has a long distance relationship with Gabe. She wants him to change teams so he can be with her but football comes first with Gabe and he has no intention of doing that. Then, when Mia moved to Boston, Denise informed Gabe that he needed to watch out for her. She also made Mia promise to make sure that Gabe was being faithful. These characters were engaging and the dialogue was witty. If you like a sports romance with emotion to spare, this one is for you.
Playing For The Money: a Bad Boy Sports Romance - Boston Militia Tight End, Hunter Quintanna, has the worst rep in the NFL due to a sexual harassment situation involving a coach and a cheerleader. Cat Marini, his new coach’s daughter and official “handler”, knows the truth behind his rep but keeps that info to herself since it isn’t her secret to tell. Cat’s job is to make sure Hunter stays out of trouble but she also wants to help him rehabilitate his image. Hunter just wants to get to the end of the season without any drama so he can continue to support his entire family. Cat and Hunter are immediately attracted to each other. Unfortunately, Cat’s dad has one rule, his players need to stay away from his daughter. Easy right? These two characters are angsty, fun and real. You will wish that you were friends with both of them.
Playing For Keeps: an Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance - Tate Fontanna, Boston Militia Linebacker, and Sports Reporter, Chloe Smith, have a sizzling attraction and an instant antagonism. Tate hates any and all media ever since they descended on his uncle’s funeral and his family was hounded outside their home after his uncle’s death. Now, he is in the last year of his current contract and his performance this season will impact negotiations for his next contract. Chloe lives to get the story and wants to live up to her dead father’s reputation. Chloe overhears a conversation in a bar that Tate is having some issues with his back and shoulder and decides to investigate further. Even though they rub each other the wrong way, their friends all see the attraction between them and decide to set them up on a “blind” date. What could go wrong with that?Their banter is witty and their exchanges crackle with tension. These two characters were made for each other. Highly enjoyable read.
Playing Series 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen
Playing for the Money
This is the first book I've read by the author but it won't be the last. Queen knows how to capture a reader's attention and knows how to keep it. Playing for the Money is a great read.
Cat, the coach's daughter, takes on the task of being a bad boys handler. Being the daughter of the coach has points, but also has disadvantages. The quote I chose for Cat is: “I’ll contact the Players Association so you won’t have to pay their attorney. I’m pretty sure I can convince them.”
Hunter, the bad boy football player, finds himself in trouble. Not once but twice. Cat comes to his rescue for the second one. He keeps his personal life locked up tight. The quote I chose for Hunter is: “I wouldn’t know. Because I don’t need to be crazy to be in love with you. I’d be crazy if I didn’t love you, Cat.”
Highly recommended for sport romance lovers.
Playing for Love
Queen has really done it with this book. You'll need tissues. Maybe two boxes. Playing for Love is a great book and I can't wait for the next one.
Mia, best friend to Gabe's girlfriend, went to college with the pro. She had a huge crush on him back in the day, but does she still have it? The quote I chose for Mia is: “I can’t wait to dream of you again, to wake up with you and remember it wasn’t all a dream.”
Gabe, a star QB, isn't sure what he wants anymore. His love is football...or it was. What happens when his crush from college shows up? The quote I chose for Gabe is: “It’s not the way I feel. You , Mia, are far more important to me than football.”
Highly recommended for sport romance lovers.
Playing for Keeps
Queen loves to keep her readers wanting more. This next story requires tissues as well. The heartbreak reading this is real.
Tate, someone who loves the game, isn't quite ready for the storm called Chloe. He plays hard to get and really despises her. The quote I chose for Tate is: “Get out, Chloe. It’s time for me to strip down and take an ice bath and I wouldn’t want you to get overexcited and out of control.”
Chloe, aka Smitty, is trying to climb her way to the top. She is sassy and honestly a great person. She sets her eye on Tate. If only she can get over his personality. The quote I chose for Chloe is: “I already am, big boy. Didn’t you know? I’m the pathetic little girl of the late-great master trying to fill her daddy’s shoes and never gonna make it.”
Playing Series 3 Book set contains 3 books from the popular Playing series by Stephanie Queen. It is a New Adult football/sports romance series that focuses on the players in the Boston Militia Football Team. Each book in the series contains a standalone story. This is a great way to explore this fantastic series, getting 3 books to sink your teeth into- with captivating stories and wonderful characters to discover between the covers. If you are like me, you will find that three books are not enough- and go searching for more. I love Stephanie Queen’s Beachcomber Investigations series- so I was really intrigued to see what she could do with sports romance. As expected, these books are really beautifully written and were so much (sexy) fun to read. This boxset contains:
Playing For the Money. Hunter Quintana really needs to keep his head down and stay out of trouble- being on probation and all. So, a fling with the coaches daughter would probably be a bad idea. Right? Dive into this Bad Boy Sports Romance and discover if Hunter can resist temptation and stay out of trouble.
Playing for Love. This is a really great second chance sports romance with enough angst and drama to keep things really interesting. Gabriel is the star quarterback for the Boston Militia Football Team and life is good. What happens when his girlfriend’s bestie moves to the area and he’s asked to show her around. Yes. You guessed it. Things are about to get interesting!
Playing For Keeps. Professional football player Tate has good reason to hate reporters. So we get to see the sparks really fly when Chloe, the sports reporter, enters the scene. This is a great enemies to lovers romance- with all the ingredients needed to make it an engrossing read.
I really enjoyed this boxset and I am happy to have found some more books in the series to check out! Happy Reading!
I am such a mega fan of football romance novels it's a bit much but I can’t get enough. When I saw these three were offered in a box set from one of my go to romance authors, Stephanie Queen, I knew I had to scoop it up ASAP. I wasn’t disappointed one bit either, these kept me glued to my kindle all weekend long and it was just what the doctor ordered to escape my funk. These have some of it all, romance, witty characters, drama, and of course some sassy love scenes. What more could you want?
PLAYING FOR MONEY: In this one we focus on Hunter Quintana. He is in quite the predicament and needs to stay out of trouble if at all possible, especially since he is on probation. Unfortunately, fate has another plan when he drops the coach's daughter and a bad crush for her in his lap. This sucker was a fun read and I found myself giggling several times as I read and cheering for these two to get that happily ever after no matter what.
PLAYING FOR LOVE: Adding second chance romance into sports/football romance reads is seriously like sprinkling sugar on top and adding the cherry to your fav sundae. I loved this one so much as we followed Gabriel, the team's star quarterback. His girlfriend and her bestie are about to make his steady and good life a bit more dramatic to say the least! This actually was my fav of the three books in this series and I’d totally read another Gabriel book any day!
PLAYING FOR KEEPS: In Playing for Keeps we get Tate's story. The trope is one we see a lot of , enemies to lovers, but Queen really wrote this in a way that it was fresh and entertaining the whole way through. Tate and Chloe start off with a tumultuous start but I think the way to the end was well worth every second.
The playing Series boxset by Stephanie Queen was a great series. I have read a few of this authors books in the past and I am familiar with her writing style. These books were a little different from what I have read by her previously. This really was the perfect set of books to read. It’s starting to get cold out so I found myself snuggled up with my puppies at night, a cup of coffee in hand and got lost in this series. Who doesn’t likes sports romance books or 2nd Chance Romance reads? It’s hard to pick a favorite. You will have to read them yourself and pick one of your own. I enjoyed all 3.
Playing for the money was about bad boy Hunter getting moved to a new team. He needs to keep himself on the right track and prove himself but what can he do when the woman he is supposed to work along side is so attractive. He finds it hard to keep his distance as she does as well. The icing on the cake is, she isn’t just any woman...she’s the coaches daughter!!! Loved the character and Loved reading this one!!
Playing for love was another great read. These two characters are not new friends. They do know each other from sometime ago. The time for them just wasn’t right. Now things may be different. This was a sweet read. I liked the characters. What will happen now that Gabe and Mia are spending some time together?? Read the book and find out.
Playing for keeps has a little bit of a different feel for me. I enjoyed reading the book but, sometimes certain books hit you differently. This happens to be one of them. The main characters in this book are Tate and Chloe. These two have an attraction to each other even if they don’t want to. What happens when their friends get involved?
I can’t wait to read more books by this author. These books were all amazing.
If you are a fan of sports romance stories...then this series is for you!
Each of the three books focuses on a player from the Boston Militia football team. Playing for the Money: a Bad Boy Sports Romance focuses on the team's tight end, Hunter. Cat has been assigned to be his handler and keep him line after an alleged incident. Hunter is trying to stay on the right path so he can support his family. However, he is having a hard time fighting his attraction to Cat...especially since the coach has a rule about staying away from his daughter!
Playing for Love: a Second Chance Sports Romance is the story of the team's QB, Gabriel. This is probably my favorite of the three stories. Gabriel is in a long-distance relationship since his dream of football has him playing in Boston. When his girlfriend's best-friend moves to Boston sparks fly. The angst is soooo good in this story and I found myself devouring this one in one sitting!
Playing for Keeps: an Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance is the story of Tate, the team's linebacker. Tate is not a huge fan of reporters and the media...and Chloe is a sports reporter who has overheard information about Tate while out at a bar. Tate and Chloe are at odds with each other...so what happens when their friends set them up on a blind date?
All three stories were wonderful. I love a good sports romance and each of these stories checked off all the things I love in a good book. There was angst and witty banter...cocky athletes...strong women...and of course some spicy moments thrown in. I love how all these books are connected and characters show up in all three. A great series...and I will definitely be checking out more!
This is a great set of books. Each book includes its own couple, its own story and its own budding romance. The emotion in all the books is so well written that you feel and experience everything the characters do. I loved them all.
Playing for money- This story is about Hunter and Cat. Hunter is a bad boy with a reputation that isn't truelly deserved but the only person who knows the truth is Cat. Cat is the coach's daughter and she has been hired to keep Hunter out of trouble. Will she succeed or will the attraction between them be the failing for them both.
Playing for love- This book is a second chance romance between Gabe and Mia. Gabe is a player on the same team as Hunter. Football is his life so when his long term gf moves away he is happy to settle for a long distance relationship. However that changes when his gf's friend Mia moves to Boston. Denise (Gabes gf) tells Gabe he needs to watch out for Mia and she also tells Mia that she needs to make sure Gabe is being faithful. Little does she realise that the attraction between Gabe and Mia will be so strong. Can they resist temptation or is having a long distance gf not an option for Gabe anymore?
Playing for keeps- This story is about Tate and Chloe and is definately an enemies to lovers story. Tate can't stand the media after they hounded him at his uncles funeral so when he meets Chloe the hatred is there from the beginning. Chloe will do anything to get a story and when she hears rumours about Tate being injured she has to investigate. Is she biting off more than she can chew by approaching Tate? Can she win him around or will his hatred for the media continue to include her.
Playing Series 3 is a set of unique stories with wonderful characters and great relationships this set is a great read.
The first story is Playing for the money - This follows Hunter who punches his coach and ends up being transferred across th country, but will this be he best decision in the end.
Catalina or Cat for short, is the coaches daughter but when a new player arrives will she be able to keep her attraction in check or will love win out.
The second story in this trilogy is Playing for Love - The story revolves around Gabe and MIa, this story is a second chance book. Gabe and Mia meet a long time ago but they were both in other relationships but Gabe has never really got her out of his system, until another chance meeting with Mia brings all the feelings back and he can't resist her this time.
Will they able to give love a chance again?
The third and final book in this collection is Playing for Keeps - The story involves Tate who is in a slump as his Uncle and role model has just passed away but Tate feels guilty as he should have stopped him getting into the car after a couple of drinks.
Chloe is a reporter for the local newspaper and finds herself covering this event that has happened, that's when she meets Tate and a attraction is on the cards.
I have always loved Stephanie's writing and this does not disappoint, each story offers a great feel good factor and the characters compliment each other brilliantly. Each story is well developed and is a page turner. I would recommend this author and this series.
The Playing series is a series of three books by Stephanie Queen. I have sampled this author's work previously and it was amazing. I was hugely excited to dive into these three books to see what sort of thrilling experience it would be. The titles in this series are Playing for Money, Playing for Love and Playing for Keeps. As the sports romance genre is one of my all time favourites, I was a little excited. Add in the new romance element and I am one very happy reader.
The series centres around three players from the Boston Militia football team. They are feisty, full of arrogance, magnetism and a flair for the dramatic. These characters were a pleasure to get to know. Their relationships go from hate to love with all the dramatics, tantrums and diva behaviour you could possibly hope for and imagine. Each character had their own unique personalities to become engraved into a reader's heart. They were individuals with a deep sense of loyalty and camaraderie. They were all willing to go the extra mile to win the hearts of their loved ones.
The series was exciting, energetic and always delivered something extra. Stephanie Queen delivered a package that was complete and believable. Simple in their needs, complicated in the way they got their happily ever after. Playing for Keeps is a series that will grab your attention and keep you involved right to the end. A series well worth the read. 4 stars.
Playing Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen. I loved this series. Its a fun sexy contemporary sports series and it is filled with fun, sexy series. They are all about bad boys, second chance romance & enemies to lovers romance. The first one is Playing for the Money and its the story of Hunter Quintanna who has a horrible reputation in the Football league. When he is sent to another team across the Country he meets his new coach's daughter, Cat Marini and is smitten. Will they be able to resist the chemistry between them or will they risk it all? In Playing for Love its about Gabriel Wyatt who is the Quarterback for the Boston Militia team. Gabe's life revolves around football against the wishes of his long distance girlfriend. When his girlfriends best friend Mia moves to Boston he is told to help her get settled. While helping her move he starts to find he's attracted to Mia. What will Gabe & Mia do? Risk losing his long time girl and her best friend to be together or deny their attraction to each other? In Playing for Keeps Tate Fontanna, a linebacker for the Boston Militia is trying to lay low. He truly hates the media and stays away from them as much as possible but when his Uncle passes away and there is publicity all about it he is torn. Chloe is a sports reporter and when she shows up trying to get the scoop on his Uncle and his new contract Tate is not a fan. Once they get to know one another better will hate turn to love? This is a great sports romance boxed set.
Playing Series 3 book set contains the first 3 books in the Playing Series by Stephanie Queen. I wrongly assumed that this was a trilogy of books containing one couple’s story. That’s what I get for reading the blurb of the first book and liking it then deciding to read the set and not looking at the rest of the blurb. What you actually get is 3 full complete stories of 3 fantastic couples. This set contains the following: Playing for the Money – Cat and Hunter’s story Playing for Love – Gabe and Mia’s story Playing for Keeps - Tata and Chloe’s story
I had never previously read any of Stephanie Queen’s work but I love a sports romance and liked the look of the blurb of book 1 and so decided to give this set of books a chance. I am so glad that I took a chance on this set as I absolutely loved all 3 books. I don’t think I can pick a favourite. All 3 are very different stories but all great engaging entertaining reads. Each book had me hooked from the very beginning and kept me going until the very end. I really didn’t want to put these books down. The proverbial page turner!
The author has produced excellent, relatable, realistic characters that you can’t help but fall in love with and great storylines that keep you entertained from beginning to end, so If you love great sports romances. Or even just great romances where the sexy times are HOT then this set of 3 books is a MUST read.
Playing Series 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen is a set that you need to grab. Stephanie has done a wonderful job with the characters and their development. And let’s not forget the steamy romances. Each book is a short but sweet read.
Playing for the Money is a Bad Boy Sports Romance. Hunter loses the one thing that he needed his place on the team. Not everything is as it seems but that doesn’t matter when the truth is hidden. His heart is torn between the right thing, the game and the sexy woman who is his keeper will not stop until she gets what she wants.
Playing for Love is a beautiful Second Chance Sports Romance. Gabe lives for football but unfortunately his girlfriend doesn’t share his passion. Denise sets out to test his fidelity as she lives a long way away. When her bestie comes to his town, they both find they are torn between their feelings, but Gabe knows nothing can come of it due to his commitments even though he knows his relationship is long over.
Playing for Keeps is a sexy an Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance. Tate absolutely hates the media even though he knows it comes with the territory as a pro footballer. It figures fate would deal a blow when he finds the one woman, he is attracted to happens to be his nemesis, a reporter. Watch as they navigate their love hate relationship.
Playing Series 3 Book Set by Stephanie Queen is a new adult sports romance series. I was so glad I read this as a box set because I couldn’t put it down and didn’t have to wait for the next one!
Playing for Love is a second chance romance. Gabriel and Mia definitely have some sparks but there is one problem, Mia’s best friend is Gabriel’s girlfriend. Mia moves to Boston though and that’s when things start to change.
Playing for the Money is all about the bad boy. Hunter has a terrible reputation even if most of what is said isn’t true. The current sexual harassment situation doesn’t help things at all. Now he has a “handler” to keep him out of trouble and make his rep better. Cat and Hunter are attracted to each other but Hunter wants to make it to the end of the season with no drama and Cat being the coaches daughter is off limits. What are they to do?
Playing for Keeps is an enemies to lovers story. Tate and Chloe are just about instant enemies. Tate can’t stand the media after an incident at his uncle’s funeral and Chloe is a sports reporter which is basically asking for trouble with Tate. While at a bar, Chloe overhears some information about Tate that she can’t help but investigate. Will this create more tension between the two?
I absolutely enjoyed this series! I couldn’t put it down. Each book had their own flare that just draws you in.
Playing Series 3 Book Set By Stephanie Queen 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the three stories in this collection. They are stories that are romantic and enjoyable to read. They pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself hooked. You are entering the world of the Boston Militia football team. I loved reading about the main characters as well as the additional ones as well. I also loved that some of the characters from each book were brought forward to the next one. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between the characters. There are friendships and camaraderie as well. There are romantic scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. Also, chemistry, attraction, and passion. There are at times stressful and emotional situations that the characters must deal with. My emotions went up and down throughout the stories. The author has a wonderful way of making both the story and the characters come alive. Don’t miss out on three stories that you won’t want to put down until you finish the final page of each. I highly recommend reading them.
Stephanie Queen is definitely a favorite author of mine. If you have not dug in to her Beachcomber Investigations series, you simply must! I picked this set up because of the author and I'm somewhat shocked that I loved it as much as I did as I'm not really into the sports genre, but as usual this author pulled me in and didn't let go.
This box set contains 3 books about 3 different couples. Each one can be read as a standalone but reading them all gives you the best experience.
You get everything you could want in these books. An enemy to lovers, a second chance, and what I would call a forbidden romance. Each one has its own level of heat, sweetness, drama, and I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud while reading this set.
Once again this author reinforces how I feel about her writing style and the flow of her books. Beachcomber will forever be my favorite series by this author but this one will run a close second.
Playing Series 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen is a collection for 3 sports romance novels but an amazing author. Each book is a different type of sports romance and each one is brilliant in its own right. The characters are all such strong characters that have great chemistry between them. I loved how different each couple seemed to the last I had read about – it made them so distinctive since I was read these books all at once. The stories themselves were all well written. They were easy to engage with and I found myself flying through them so quickly I was enjoying them so much. They were fun and entertaining but also contained enough emotion and depth that you really got in to them all. This author is one that I have become familiar over the past year or so and I have enjoyed everything that I have read by her. This is another great series and one I would highly recommend.
****4 stars**** Playing Series: 3 Book Set: Sports Romance by Stephanie Queen
The 3 book Playing Series set by Stephanie Queen includes Playing for Love, Playing for the Money, and Playing for Keeps, all sports romance stories. Each book looks at different football players and the overall themes change from one story about a player with a bad boy reputation, one about a second chance romance, and one which is more enemies turned lovers. The characters in all of the books were likable and fun to get to know. The books contained humor, romance, and chemistry with the couples. The writer did a good job of writing the different stories so that I wanted to keep reading until I completely finished all 3, while still connecting the stories and really showing her smooth and entertaining writing style.

This is the first series i have read by Stephanie Queen. I thoroughly enjoyed it, i have only read a few football based love stories before this set and the playing series box set is by far my favourite so far. Three Footballers with three different romances. They all have something different to offer but each does not disappoint with the steamy romance. All 3 are based around a Boston football team. Book 1 - Playing for the money, is a bad boy sports romance, Book 2 - Playing for love, is a second chance sports romance and Book 3 - Playing for keeps, is an enemies to lovers sports romance. All three books are an enjoyable read containing humor and chemistry.
I’ve been privileged to read some of Queen’s other works previously and have always enjoyed the easy way I fall into her stories. I know I wouldn’t be disappointed by this three book series. And I definitely wasn’t. I don’t pick up sports romance regularly but I do enjoy them immensely. There is always something extra with the on-field drama and then the off-field escapades. Queen balances it all extremely well and each of these stories is just a fantastic read. You’ll love them all and won’t go wrong picking up this set.
