I read the first book of this series before reading this one and I gotta say the first one is way better. Both books have different main characters but the story happens in the same place and with similar jobs (paramedics and doctors), and we see side characters from book 1 in this one too, which I enjoyed very much. But I don’t know... this one just didn’t do anything for me. I felt no chemistry between Cara and Izzy and everything just felt to happen too fast with no build-up and I found myself skipping a lot of pages and only reading the dialogues... it probably didn’t help that I had a hard time liking Izzy. She annoyed me most of the time and she had some attitudes that bothered me a lot, and by the end I really thought I was gonna read my first book where both characters remained only as “friends” after everything that went down... I still don’t know if I would’ve forgiven Izzy if I were Cara... but anyways... it was an okay read.
Can’t wait to read the third book and see who the main characters will be.

um..good things first 😃

- women who work in the medical field 🥰😍
- realistic relationship 😆😁🙂

and that’s basically it.

I thought this was like a cute and realistic book at first but man was i disappointed.

one thing i don’t get is why some queer people are obsessed with wanting their partners to be out to their parents. that was a huge part in this book?? if your partner tells you they’re scared of coming out to their parents then why are you pressuring them??
not every parent is going to accept their child as queer. if you know your partner isn’t out before you date them and you don’t fuck with that THEN WHY DATE THEM AND PRESSURE THEM?? i hate this so much.

also wtf is “most of whom were gay or queer or 100% lesbian”?? i don’t understand?? what is 100% lesbian supposed to mean?? like how can you not be 100% of a sexuality??

Heart trouble

Cara and Izzy’s hook up may have been fast but they turned it in a comfortable relationship. Izzy needs to get out of her head. I felt bad for Cara at times because Izzy couldn’t speak for herself. Emergencies have a way of bringing people together and seeing what’s important. Great second book and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Yea, OK - nothing too exciting and as a short story. It's fine, but felt a little like a list opportunity- there is a full scale novel in there - but fine, though unlikely to pick up the rest of the series.

Okay. This is by far the best of the 5 books I’ve read by Scott so far? The story is the most interesting, to me personally anyway, and there’s a bit more done in the way of chemistry, character development etc.

The biggest complaint about this installation is that the POV is still all over the place. Sometimes you’re in the same chapter and you’re switching POV each paragraph which makes things a little frustrating to follow. There’s also some easily avoidable errors that could have been fixed by a proofreader and a beta reader or two like incorrect names, grammar etc.

I’d give this one an 8/10 and would recommend more than others even if just as a standalone. That’s said - definitely taking a break from this author for the next read. Just gotta switch up the romance drama and trauma.

Good Story 👏🏻

I read Ruby’s first book and it was good, I was curious with her second book and I gave it a try. I will say that this book is way better that her first one (at least for me) you can notice that she is getting better and better. I have always thought that writing a short book is difficult because you have to find a way to wrap everything around avoiding that rush feeling into the story. At the beginning gets very🔥 🌶 I liked that, after that the story behind then gets more intense let’s say with a hint of drama hehe that I enjoyed it quite a bit, I felt like I was watching Grey’s Anatomy for a moment hehe but I must admit that towards the end I felt the story was getting that rush to wrap. It’s a really good book 👏🏻👏🏻 she is a new lesfic author and she is doing great!!

Good story!

After meeting at a club and having a one night stand, Izzy, a Cardio Surgical Resident and Cara, an EMT, keep running into each other at the hospital. They jump into a relationship quite quickly, but appear to be a good match until the doubts creep in. Can Izzy stand up for herself at work and at home, and will Cara's working class family be enough? It only takes a trauma for them to realize what is really important.

Ruby Scott is a new author. I like her writing style and her ability to write a very complex person like Izzy, but she needs to improve her editing. Overall, it was a good story that I enjoyed!

This was a hard read for me given my background in medicine, yet it was also kind of easy for the same reason!

Ruby Scott has written a well balanced story of life around the OR, ER and residency/fellowship training. Living through these experiences including falling in love at the same time, it is remarkable how close this book is to reality. I am pleased with the level of character development, how the characters leaned upon each other had real faults and fears, just makes this book one that many people should read and enjoy. I do recommend this book and hope you will support the author.

While I did enjoy how charming the first bit was, it quickly went downhill for me. Why was it necessary to have her boss come onto her like that? Especially when Izzy is already causing all the strain in her relationship with Cara because she's basically overthinking. Also, Izzy's entire friend group treated Cara like garbage and it had me fuming. This did have potential, but it was sadly overshadowed by what didn't work for me.

Drama!

Hard to believe this is only this author's second book! Izzy and Cara meet and the drama begins. With this drama comes: decisions, secrets, lies, hot sex, family and friend reactions, and a lot of love! I really liked this book and I think you will too! Thanks Ruby, keep them coming!

Loved It!

I loved the chemistry between Cara and Izzy. I loved that they both thought their hookup was a one time thing. As often as they were getting together and the fact that feelings had come to play, they both were in deep, fast. I loved how the story unwind and led to the heartbreaking yet heartwarming conclusion. Quickly becoming a fan of Ruby Scott.

A little too short but fun

I've read another one of this series and it was better. Ms Scott seems to be improving later on in the series. There were a few twists and turns and a breakup. It was a little trite that she broke up with her girlfriend then saved her father's life... This still was a fun read with an HEA. It's a romance novel not reality.

Fun Read

Being a retired nurse who worked in cardiac recovery - the people who cared for the patients after heart surgery, it was a good reminder of what happens during a surgery. Glad the girls worked it out in the end, and lesson I learned later in life-better to be happy with what you do and who you are with than hate to go home and hate to stay at work.

Eh, second book, not as good as the first l'il ditty. This was a full length, and I honestly didn't really get the pairing. Very hard to warm to Izzy, she's the kind of person I wouldn't remain friends with for very long, let alone a partner. We'll see how the series progresses, but I was into the short story novella format of book one.

Decision, decision, decision!

Do you go with your parents decision and possibly lose your girlfriend because of it or do put on your big girl pants and make your own and follow your heart. Enjoy!

Loved it

This story is another sweet love story by this author. I find that the main characters did have chemistry from the beginning. I feel the ending was a little abrupt but a nice story.

Great series

The characters are lovely and believable because I’ve known people that could walk into the story and say the next line. Love is always easy although life can make it challenging. Cara and Izzy’s journey is hard but…

Great series

Cara is an EMT and former firefighter. During an evening at a gay club she meets Izzy and they have a wonderful night. Meeting again on the job the next day is a surprise and delight. Can this unexpected attraction lead to more. Sweet romance series.

A one night stand turns into more

Izzy and Cara both thought it was a one night stand, but little did they realise fate had a different idea, although it's not simple....

Loved the book

Cara and Izzy are a great couple. Of course, there were obstacles and misunderstandings. In the end, true love saw everyone through.
