My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.
It's the dead of winter in Honey Hollow, and I’ve got jury duty. As if that wasn’t terrible enough, Carlotta is stirring up trouble with the mob again, and soon enough a member of the family ends up biting the big one. And you will never guess which ghost comes back to help me solve the crime this time… Something like this has never happened before, and I’m hoping it will never happen again. It’s cold outside, and so is the heart of the killer.
Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in the occasional ghost of the human variety, a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

The copy and pasting is getting really old. Yes it's a stand alone book but for those of us reading the series you can come up with new descriptors for items that need repeat in each book. Of course there are things I want to know and that keeps me in this series but the repetitive nature of copy and pasting from one book to next is seriously old.
All right - I was hoping for some closure on the whole love triangle and instead got an even bigger mess. Both Noah and Everett seem to have become brainless. Lottie seems to have no common sense and things just keep spiraling down. Although the murder itself was interesting, there seems to be quite a lack of common sense in Honey Hollow. Miranda's decision makes no sense. It seems Lottie should spend some time taking care of those in her life and not running around putting herself and everyone else in harm's way. Cannot figure out how Carlotta needs all of this cash when she freeloads off of Lottie and everyone else. Am interested to see what happens to Noah and Everett now that Lottie really has put them into a bind.
I love this book and this series so much. Lottie and her two men are still waiting on the birth of their child. Lottie has jury duty. I loved how the author found a new way to handle the ghost that shows up to help solve a murder. I highly recommend this book.
Lottie is catering a New Years party, which her two men are there. They are enjoying themselves when someone is murdered. Lottie decides she is going to try to help the murder victim Flo. Lottie and her men are dragged into a doing something for them all. Lottie will track down suspects in this murder. Lottie needs to be careful since she is dealing with the mob. Lottie also learns her ghost didn't give her all the details on her life. Lottie also forces her to tell her what she was promised.Lottie also has to worry about jury duty on top of solving his murder. Lottie is going to doin double time and could put herself and her men in danger.
This is quite the ride with this character with ever situation she finds herself in. You can't help but laugh at the characters in here. I am looking forward to reading more, especially when she finds out who the baby's father. I am hoping it is Noah's
Lottie Lemon is at it again. As the bakery owner in Honey Hollow, VT, she is making desserts, including her waffles, for the New Year's Bash that everyone is going to. And, everyone includes two rival crime families. Her biological mother, Carlotta, is friends with the mobsters' women. So Lottie, by being her daughter is welcomed into this dangerous group. Tragedy strikes at the ball. Lottie gets pulled into solving the murder even though she is seven months pregnant. The men in her life, Everett and Noah, have to get involved too and soon they are stuck in the middle of a very dangerous scheme. I love this series and I think that you will too! Can't wait for the next book to come out!

I love this series. All of this author's books are amazing. The characters are relatable, the stories are interesting and engaging, the story is developed and moves at a good pace and the writing is very nice. I love this series more with every book. Well done to the author on another successful release and I can't wait to see what happen next with Lottie Lemon and the whole Honey Hollow gang.
Addison Moore really knows how to draw her readers in and get you hooked. Lottie and her gang are my favorites! They really almost feel like family. I feel like I solve every murder mystery and go through every heart ache right along with them. I can't wait to meet the newest member of the family and see what is in store for everyone.
Welcome back to Honey Hollow!! Chock full of fantastic baked goodies and dead bodies!! Lottie is back at it again! And with the ending of the last book, I expected nothing less than what we got here!! A ghost like we've never seen the likes of, and some crazy surprises thrown in the mix. Addison just keeps slaying this series! 10/10 would definitely recommend!!
I loved this book, especially the ghost and the reason why this particular ghost came back. It was nice to see things change up a bit. It ended on a mind boggling cliffhanger again so needless to say I’ll keep my eyes out for the next book in the series!
Murder in the Mix book 29, Waffles at the Wake, begins with a New Year's Eve celebration (and murder), ends with the arrest of both potential fathers of the main character's unborn baby, and includes a mob turf war, among a few sub-mysteries. It's a wild ride! Professional baker and amateur sleuth Lottie Lemon is restocking the amazing waffles she's baked for the local high-class hotel's New Year's Eve party when the midnight celebration turns into gunshots. Pregnant Lottie has again forgotten the gun judge Everett and cop Noah gave her for protection; in her defense, the holster is on her thigh, which she hasn't been able to reach since she developed (or said the baby, "Sugar Cookie", developed) a craving for spice cake and polished off at least 1 per day. When the OB says she's gained 20 pounds in 3 weeks, Lottie thinks she and the baby are "off to a great start!" The OB resists rolling her eyes. The murder victim is a guest, Flo "Angel Face" Canelli, of the Canelli crime family based in Leeds, the seedy town next to Honey Hollow, Vermont. Right away, the Canellis blame the rival Lazzaris, but Lottie and her birth mom Carlotta, the only other person in HH who can see the dead, haven't spotted a ghost. Then a ghost does appear--but instead of a pet or best friend, it's Flo herself! Nobody loved Flo like Flo loves Flo. Lottie resists rolling her eyes. Every Canelli has a suspect to give Lottie, but her investigation is delayed by, of all things, jury duty. Neither Noah nor Everett can get her out of serving, so Lottie squeezes into Everett's car and reports for duty. She's selected--for a murder trial Everett is presiding over. Yay. Strangely, Flo can't say who killed her. She can't help bursting into the courtroom to gossip about mob drama either, causing Lottie to miss key testimony and risk contempt of court, which Everett decides not to charge her with. Flo also grabs pastries in the bakery and checks her reflection dozens of times, complaining that her friends want to put her in a clown casket, in clown clothes, with clown hair. She begs Lottie to steal her body from the morgue; if they can't find her they can't ruin her appearance at her wake! Flo promises to keep Lottie's bakery and Everett's job secure and to help Noah preempt a mob turf war. Lottie ropes Everett and Noah into helping, and Carlotta tags along as usual. The men hate doing it, as it could end both their careers, but they sneak into the morgue using Noah's key, grab the body, shove it into Everett's car, and drive to Noah's. They dig a hole in the back yard, dump the body in it, and spread snow over the site to hide signs of disturbed ground. The next day, after a sketchy dinner in another sketchy town near HH, Lottie talks to both men named as suspects. They both loved Flo; she was pregnant and unsure which man was the father! Sound familiar? It clears both of them, though. The focus then shifts to the end of the trial. Lottie is voted jury forewoman, and after hours of deliberation they find the defendant not guilty. The jurors' time is over, but Lottie doesn't feel right. With the Canelli men cleared, Lottie turns to the 2 Canelli women who wanted to clownify Flo at her funeral. True to HH form, 1 was cheating with Flo's boyfriend and Flo was also pregnant--does no place in HH sell birth control?--and the other hated Flo...but who didn't? After all, nobody loved Flo like Flo loved herself! In the restroom of the Canellis' strip club, Red Satin, Lottie overhears 2 women crowing about getting away with murder. She exits the stall and sees the supposed victim, Allison, who faked her injuries. And Jimmy Canelli tells Everett he'll kill him for stealing his niece's body. An upcoming jail sentence and a death threat-- Everett can't get a break! The pressure increases as Lottie questions further suspects and clears them one by one. Ivy, Noah's partner, hounds Lottie about "interfering" in the case, to Lottie's annoyance. Everett considers and rejects a plea deal his attorney, Fiona Dagmeyer, yet another member of "Club Essex", presents. It offers 4 years of jail time in a decent prison. He realizes that he'll miss the baby's first 4 years, and if he risks a trial he could get 15 years in a worse prison, but he could also be free! Noah tells Fiona that Everett sleepwalked while they were stepbrothers and he has no knowledge it stopped, so they could use the "didn't know what he was doing" defense. Everett grudgingly agrees to that strategy. Back at the house, 2 surprises occur. First, Miranda announces she's sold the B&B...to the leeches! Second, while the new owners are brainstorming ideas to modernize and ruin the B&B, sheriff's deputies arrive and arrest Noah and Everett for stealing Flo's body. Lottie's horrified! This book continues the pattern of the prior 28 books (except for the victim being her own ghost!), but the characters are endearing. Recommended.
Addison sure knows how to keep you hanging on... The way this one ends really makes me want to know what is next. I just can't wait till the next book is out. I need to know what happens.... Umm, did I mention that I am on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what's going to happen next????
This book has you wondering what is going to happen from the start to the finish. Lots of craziness going on and Lottie needs to remember she is carrying a very special sugar cookie. Besides that Everette and Noha can not keep up with her to save her each and every time she gets herself into trouble as she tries to solve these murders that always happen around her.
This time she happens to be dealing with the mob and has to solve the murder of one of their own. It is not easy to figure out who killed one of them. Let's just say there is a lot of action and twist to keep you guessing from start to finish in this one, along with other personal things happening around Honey Hollow and with Lottie and her family.
You will enjoy the book. It can be read as a stand alone but I would really suggest reading all of the books in this series and it makes it so much better.

Waffles at the Wake is the twenty-eighth book in the Murder in the Mix Mystery series. This series stories builds on each other so I would suggest reading them in order to get the most out of it, but you could always read them as a stand alone if you wanted to and not be to lost. Lemon has a gift of seeing dead animal of those who will experience back luck soon, but lately deadly luck. Like all the books in this series, when Lottie sees a ghostly animal she knows death is soon to follow. The holiday season is upon Honey Hollow and the town is doing everything with seasonal spirit. While waiting to countdown to the new year everyone was distracted when the victim, Flo, gets shot in the middle of the crowd. There is a room full of witnesses, but not a single person saw the shooter. Now this is the first case that Lottie hasn’t seen a ghostly body, so she is worried about what this means for her powers. Soon there was another first. Lottie has the. Victim comes back as the ghostly that will help her solve the case. Having the victim here Lottie hope this will be a open and shut case. Will Flo be a help? Or will she slow things down??
Once again I was able to travel back to Honey Hollow and hang out with my favorite baker. Lottie Lemon has formed a reputation of not only being a baked goods goddess, but a Knack for finding dead bodies and those responsible. A love triangle, teenagers, pregnancy, and so many different personalities all in one book makes for a good trip every time. Usually an ending like this one would make me go wait why? no how could you? where are the other pages?, this one being no different but holy man did I fan girl squeal I’m soooooo excited. I won’t say any more tag your it read it and find out if I peeked your interest!
I love this author's writing style and books. All of them are amazing. Mostly they have legal truth in them. This book, however, has such a glaring issue it is hard for me to overlook it. The jury duty issue is so glaringly wrong. (****spoiler****)
My BIL is a lawyer, it would be grounds for mistrial for the wife of the presiding judge to serve on the trial. In general, wives and children of lawyers or judges are excused from jury duty, not to mention a 7 month pregnant woman would be eligible to defer jury service. BTDT.
What has Lottie Lemon got herself into now? Addison Moore has us diving back into Honey Hollow where Lottie, Everett, Noah, and the rest of the family and friends are trying to solve a murder from a prominent "family". Death is seen, war is waged, and the judicial system is challenged. With a unique twist on the spectral visitor, can Lottie catch a killer in time or has the baker baked her last sweet treat?
Omg. This is one of my favorite books in this series so far. I love Lottie Lemon. I'm also team Everett! Lottie has a lot going on in her life right now. She is stuck with jury duty, and the ghost of the murderer mob princess that needs her help finding her killer. Lottie and her men find themselves in some sticky situations. Will Lottie solve it in time? Will she survive dreaded jury duty? And the end... Wow!
With each new book, I want to read the next less. The series has taken a turn, a few books back, that really have taken this series downhill. I'm just disappointed, as I loved these books. I feel like maybe the author wants the series to keep going and going, understandably..but is really grasping at ideas and ways to do so. There's no need to make things absolutely ridiculous. She did a fine job at writing these books for a long time, I just wish she hadn't strayed from that.
Nothing like murder happening when your working at a New Year's party. As always this book has a great story line with a well written plot to keep you guessing a new ghost situation to learn from. I can't wait to see what happens next in Lottie's world. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great read from Addison Moore. I do love this author and all her series, but this is my favorite of all. She has had me waiting impatiently for each new book in this series. This book does not fail to continue the enjoyable time I spend reading it. Now I have to wait until January.
Another murder and huge gang involvement. What I didn't like is the fact that a ghost forced an outstanding Judge and police detective to break the law. I know Little keeps doing outrageously dangerous stunts in her quest for justice but that part did not sit well with me.
I know it's fiction, but the blatant disregard for the law by the main character really got on my nerves this time. I was telling out loud at her to shut up! The throuple love story is less believable with the Shenanigans.
The mystery part is very good. The ghost is not like any of the other ghost in the previous books. I question if the main characters have any common sense. Everett and Noah are in big trouble because of Lottie. I will see how Everett and Noah get out of it.
Who killed Florenza Canelli and why??? Sometimes second fiddle isn’t so bad, and then… We have to get these babies born while their mothers are still alive!!! Too late!!! I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
I simply love every book I have read of Mrs. Moore’s. She is an amazing writer who really pulls you into the story. It’s wonderful that the recipe is at the end of each book for the desert featured in it. All I’ll say is I can’t wait for Lottie to have this baby!
