I’m in my birthday suit, but I’m not ready to party.

When I wake up on a strange planet, my first thought is not to go streaking. Actually, it’s to find some clothes and avoid the local natives.

Too bad they find me first.

Instead of probing me like a normal alien, they make me their prized possession. Yay, right? Nope. Turns out they have intentions for me that are not conducive to my plan to live long and prosper. So I run like Forrest Gump.

And smack right into another alien.

Except this one is hot. Like fuego. However, he’s not interested in me at all. I take much umbrage and decide to seduce him to scratch an itch, as well as stay close to him so I don't die. I like sex, but I like breathing more. Just a little.

Anyway, the warrior is as welcoming as a cactus, but I can sense what he’s trying to hide and it draws me to him. Will I be able to keep from probing him emotionally without getting in too deep myself? (Sexual pun intended) Only one way to find out...

Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.

Probably my favourite from the series. Follows pretty much the same pattern as the rest but I liked the heroine in this more, as well as how the relationship progressed.

"I want you to use my body but not in the sense you're taking advantage. I want you to do whatever you want with me because I know I will enjoy it too, if not more."

4 stars!

I'm so glad I picked this series back up as I loved this one so much! Zoey was such a snarky, fun heroine, and some of her witticisms had me laughing out loud. I loved watching her charm the serious and stoic Kai with her constant and absurd chattering; their dynamic might be my favorite so far of the series. It was almost a perfect read for me...except for the ending, which felt disjointed and rushed. The climax was built perfectly and then everything was over in the blink of an eye, leaving me wanted more drama and reconciliation between Kai and Zoey. Nevertheless, I love this series and cannot wait for the next book♡

Tropes: fated mates, snarky heroine-on-the-run, bodyguard hero, hate-to-love-you, grumpy/sunshine, abducted heroine, reluctant hero, slight OW drama (no cheating), forced proximity, band of brothers, found family, STEAMY🔥

Kai and Zoey

Things are heating up, literally when Zoey is almost sacrifice d into a volcano by beings that are like frogs.

Kai rescues her and accidentally finds his adoptive mother. Zoey's comments are funny... "I'm the real Storm". She refers a lot to Xmen.

We only have a couple more of the Aliens to be mated before the big confrontation.

I really loved the other books in this series and was so excited when this one came out. However, I was VERY disappointed with Tempest. The book was rushed and parts were contradictory. It seems like the authors set a number of pages they wanted to write (very few) and then tried to fit too much into it. I think this review is almost as long as the book was.

At the beginning of the book, Kai is grumpy and doesn't want to break his vow. What the vow is specifically, I guess we'll never know. Is it his vow to "marry" someone else? Since she is gone, what does that have to do with anything? Is he celibate because of it? Then why did he need sex or to kill at the beginning of the book? That just doesn't make sense. Then it feels like two seconds and he is not grumpy anymore and the vow is only an afterthought. It was the flip of a switch with no explanation whatsoever; there was no gradual change and barely any internal dialogue about it. Towards the middle of the book, Zoey thinks about how she has been fighting her feelings/attraction to Kai. WHEN? I didn't see any of that at all. And hey, let's have sex where your mother can see us/walk up on us at any moment.

There were so many unanswered questions. We don't get an backstory for Zoey at all. So we get no idea of her before this happened. Does she have family, friends, anything? How old is she? What does she look like (it only gave a vague description of her coloring)? If I am going to experience her sex scenes, at least I should generally know her figure. Is she flat chested with a bubble butt? I guess it is up to my imagination. I also want to know: Did the volcano ever erupt? Why did Kai decide to search alone? Why don't the frog people have a language any more? Are they attacking out of revenge or do they still want a sacrifice. And what about Navana? Did they know she was there and not want to sacrifice her? How did she make light on her own? Is she truly the eldar's mate? Is the eldar an Aetherblood too? And it seemed Kai's ship scanned the planet for heat signatures. Why didn't they see Navana?

Other than the unanswered questions that were many times contradictions/plot holes, there were a few other things that just out right got on my nerves. For someone who is so loyal to the eldar, Kai was very quick to believe the bad things other people said about him. Zoey told Kai not to kill his crew member, that he was better than that. This coming from a woman that set a whole village on fire and gave no thought to the babies she had seen. And I guess because I was annoyed with the rest of the book, this phrase really got under my skin, "Is water wet?" and then a mention of being wetter than water. Water is NOT wet. Authors look up the definition of wet. Water MAKES things wet, it is not wet by itself. You don't look at a glass of water and think, "boy is that wet." The state of being wet is measurable. You can't measure the wetness of just water. (rant on semantics over),

Lastly, the ending was just plan stupid. The I'm going to leave because he is still in love with someone else conflict was misplaced and asinine. She had no qualms sleeping with him or the fact she was his mate but now she has an issue that was barely explained. Zoey couldn't read or operate the Torag pod, but no issues with a Koraxian ship. Plus, where did Zoey get lacey underwear, and how are you going to get inside her without removing them or at least pushing them to the side?

I have really enjoyed reading through this series. The world and character development were topnotch. The story lines throughout each book has been consistently well paced and definitely keeps you turning pages. The steam level was high, and the author gives the bonus of strong female personalities. I loved the humor, and the references to common pop culture had me laughing out loud at times. Will definitely keep reading not only this series, but other works by Miranda Bridges. I'm was truly sorry to reach the end of this series, and I hope there will be more soon.

I realised that I had read these books before when it opened to the end of the book. But I reread it it was so long ago.
I enjoy Sci Fi because anything goes. There is wit, humour, action, evil, suspense, tension and more as these alpha men set about finding earth woman that may save them.
Earth is dying someone set it on fire. Aliens are looking for the one woman that will awaken their potential but what they find is more than they thought. Along the way they find their mates.
A quick and fun read.

Co-written by Miranda Bridges and Kyra Snow, this Elemental Mates series follows elemental aliens and their human female mates. It takes place on Earth during a post-apocalyptic event where a fire wiped out most of humanity and burned the planet, leaving its remaining population starved and desperate. Earth wasn’t just dying; it was also full of people who had gone insane. Everyone resorted to a primitive state and they only cared about survival, doing whatever was necessary to ensure that. That involved murder, rape, theft, and copious amounts of violence. People scavenged for food and took refuge inside compounds against threats from other humans. The Koraxians came to Earth in search of females that were capable of unlocking their elemental potential. Nanobots swept over the Koraxian females, leaving the remaining immortal males unable to access their elemental powers and on the brink of extinction. Their desperation to find compatible alternatives led them to Earth, where they successfully found more than what they were looking for.

Written in first person, Tempest is book 4 in the series, and follows Commander Ekaitz (aka Kai) of the Stormbloods and his human mate Zoey. Zoey was sold as a slave by the Torags who abducted her in book 1, but something went wrong during transit and she wound up stranded on an unnamed planet. Some frog-like species finds Zoey and takes her back to their village, where she discovered that they intended to sacrifice her to the active volcano. Kai found her during her escape. Kai was given a mission by his Eldar Xennith to track down and retrieve his wife, Lady Navana. Not only did Kai find the human Zoey that he was tasked to retrieve on the unknown planet, but he also located Lady Navana there as well. Turned out that Lady Navana knew a lot of information regarding Eldar Xennith’s plot against the Koraxians and he only wanted her located to permanently silence her. After she informed Kai of Xennith’s betrayal, he informed the rest of his elemental brothers. Xennith was behind the killings of the Aetherbloods and other Elders, and he was the one who released the nanobots that killed the Koraxian females, in order to gain ultimate power. He also intended to eliminate the humans in order to prevent his kind from gaining their true potential or procreate because he wanted to be the only one of his kind with powers. He never had any intentions of making Kai an elder as promised. Behind all the adventure, Zoey wound up being Kai’s true mate. He initially felt guilty because he was promised to Xennith and Navana’s daughter Xoriah, who Kai thought was dead. Eventually, Kai gave in to his feelings and mated with Zoey, who was more than willing.

The couple had their first intercourse in chapter 11, at the 64% mark. The buildup was balanced and kept the reader hooked. The raunchy scenes are the only reason I read this genre of books, so I’m glad the authors didn’t hold back. Kai’s full potential was unlocked, but there was a side effect (or bonus depending on your perspective); Zoey was transformed into a Koraxian mate, gaining storm powers herself, adapting his hair color and birth marks, along with immortality. After a lot of unnecessary drama, the two admit their love for each other and live happily ever after.

There was a LOT going on in this book. So much so, that I am sure I missed some important highlights. There were traitors on Kai’s ship, including one of the last remaining Koraxian females named Keera, who the elder promised could mate with Kai in exchange for her loyalty. She tried to kill Zoey, who she blamed for taking Kai from her.

So far, this series is good. Plenty of lust-filled raunch and I like how the authors incorporated magic into an alien romance. I recommend the read. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.

Forewarning: I generally can’t take this genre serious.
The whole “Alien race of crazy strong, beautiful warriors whose females have all died off (method of their complete demise does offer some variety) and now desperately seeking compatible mates” genre is just hard to take serious. Why I can’t give it 5 stars.
But within the genre: yeah this is a five ⭐️.
It’s one of best of its type. For several reasons.
1. Usually, these stories take themselves too serious.
But this one surprised me. There’s plenty of humor and it’s very entertaining. There’s some serious story involved.
2. Also, THIS alien, Kai, doesn’t want the human female who is obviously his match… Well now that’s new.
Kai has been tasked to find some of the lost or stolen human females. He’s irritated because he’s already promised to maybe the only surviving single female of his own race. Lucky him, right? Still, it’s a new twist.
3. And then there’s Zoe. I don’t like “snarky” in leading ladies. I don’t get why so many reviewers like “snarky” characters. Snarky means sarcastic, mean and passive-aggressive hostile. How is this attractive.
But Zoe is more plucky, brave, and shock of shock, and best of all, surprisingly hilarious. Her inner pep-talks totally cracked me up right from beginning, which is why I even kept reading.
So thumbs up!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The insta-lust or whatever got held off for long enough for some story to evolve, and not because the Alien has to get over disgust of humans despite the race’s need of humans, or the “snarky” hostility of the human. I’m not actually done with story but I’m sure there got to be some more story to make it work out.
(Anyone understand why this so specific and formula genre is so popular? Does it appeal to some part of “Prince Charming” thing many of us women secretly crave. To be desired and cherished and protected by an amazing match, despite our usually very normal, average human selves? I mean, generally we are quite aware we can never compete with the perfection of “princesses”.
But it’s hard for me, the improbability of these ALIENS, usually colorful (blue seems to a favorite), sometimes horned or winged, often weirdly powered- being somehow genetically compatible with humans…. And, insta-lust turns me off. I prefer food for my romantic heart’s needs.
Also, it’s a double standard. If I don’t think visual porn is healthy for people, then how can I think written porn is? Both create unattainable and impossible expectations….
Anyway… this may be one of best of the “Hot Aliens need humans for Insta-Mates.”
Audible Listeners: Narration is great. Heather Setzler reads Zoe with above-average natural inflection. And I always appreciate a male voice for males.

A little interesting. Alot frustrating. Just like the rest of the series so far. I liked Kai. Found Zoey funny sometimes but annoying the rest of the time. The author leaves so much unsaid and unexplained. Sometimes drops some info just to leave it swinging in the wind when she shifts gears and moves on from it. And last but not least the child-like emotional maturity the heroines have in this series baffles me. The "hurdle" at the end of every book that causes an almost or actual break up is so utterly pointless and unimaginative. I cannot preach this enough. In this book it was especially unnecessary. All Zoey had to do was ACT HER FUCKING AGE (which I assume is a proper adult age as it was never told to us) and COMMUNICATE with Kai about what he planned to do about his former mate and what his feelings were about learning she was still alive. But NOOOO Zoey acted like a temper tantrum throwing seven year old and just began packing up a bag to run away. Seems to be a fave action of these heroines. Run away from their "imaginary" problems.

This series as a whole so far reads absolutely nothing like MB's previous series I've read. It reads like a first draft that you have to do a couple more run throughs of where you add in the missing details you forgot when you first jotted it down. Very rough and unfinished vibes from this series. Super unsatisfying. I'm a masochist for continuing it tbh.

Well, I have a new favorite book in this series, and it’s all due to an amazing heroine, Zoey. Kai, the Stormblood commander, has been tasked with retrieving Zoey and bringing her back with the rest of the humans they have rescued. Along the way, there are surprises and a devastating betrayal.

Oh man, I LOVE this couple. Mostly, I love Zoey. She’s very funny and her sense of humor, especially in the face of adversity, is admirable. The scene where she’s using her power for the first time is hilarious (Pew! Pew! Pew! Haha). She’s a heroine that I wish was a real person, cuz I’d love to have her as a friend. I’d love a novella of this couple through pregnancy and birth.

I’d absolutely recommend this book. I would also recommend that you read the rest of the books in order because there is an overarching storyline amongst all the books and an important of that storyline is present in this book. Sure, you won’t be completely lost, but you’ll enjoy it so much more if the read the other books first.

Tempest

Fourth book in the series and we've got another grumpy, rude MMC. The FMC gives us a perfect sense of him, "What I don’t appreciate is you acting like I’m a cactus that jumped into your pants.". She speaks many corny lines and metaphors throughout the story. The movement of their relationship was a little jerky. At first they want nothing to do with each other but all the sudden they're kissing and the other parts of their intimate actions follow quickly. This all happens without giving the reader the needed exposition on how they're moving through their own concerns.

The back story is moving along well with all the bad guys turning up and looking like they're in league with each other.

The introduction of the next pair of main characters was humorous. Hopefully they will continue to be amusing.

Great series

I've read this entire series to date and I have enjoyed it. Obsidian was probably my favorite so far....
This was a good addition to the series, however the H's quick change of feelings bothered me. That's my only complaint. I really liked the h, a lot. I related to her right away and I really wanted to love this couple, but it just really didn't seem believable to me that one minute the H was determined not to have feelings for the h, then he's kisses her?
It just seemed weird to me and a little annoying. At least his change of heart happened early in the book and chapters weren't wasted on his being too angsty for most of the book. Maybe that's just me.
I did enjoy the book enough to finish and plan on continuing the series.

Excellent

I'll be honest and tell you that a hero like Kai, who didn't want his female and was so utterly devoted to his Eldar didn't seem like something I would like. But one of my favorite authors in a while, M. Bridges, totally won me over. Our girl is so freaking awesome and talkative that I loved her from the start. She never gives up and never says die. She had so much going on that I would not have thought of and that's why I'm a reader and not a writer. She had backbone and intelligence. Just what I always want in a heroine. I came to like Kai, although it wasn't instant. And he proved to be loving and worthy. The romance was slower and sexy but it was so worth the time. Give this a try. It's a great series and I can't wait for the next one

Power Mad

Well the enemy has been revealed and he is power mad and corrupted to the core. This series gets more exciting with each book release. Zoey is a snarky human female, a survivor from Earth’s collapse. Unfortunately she was kidnapped and sold by some lizard creatures whose name escapes my memory. She lands on a planet of frog like creatures who plan to sacrifice her. Kai is the alien sent to rescue her and that starts their adventures and the beginning of their mate bond. This book was just as exciting as the first three books and I couldn’t stop reading until I finished.

Zoey wakes up naked and alone on a strange planet, immediately on the run. Her dry wit and survival instincts kick into high gear as she’s caught by a fierce, stoic Stormblood commander. Kai is more interested in serving his eldar (immediate bad vibes from the eldar) than he does in finding himself a mate. Their initial banter is hilarious—her sass meets his stony exterior, and sparks (literal and emotional) fly.

I wasn't sure if I would like Kai at first but once he starts to give in to the feelings he is developing for Zoey he becomes less grumpy and his devotion for her grows, I really started to like him.

Jungle & devotion

This story is about a woman who wakes up from cryo sleep and finds herself in a jungle. Her will to survive is strong. In her race to save herself she runs into the male who has come to save her. He was promised to marry the daughter of his adopted family until her death. He is devoted to his adopted father and his teachings. However, these teaching have led him astray, unbeknownst to him. He struggles with being drawn to his mate & he fights his attraction. Good read.

I wasn't crazy about this book. I've read the books before this but I was confused by the plot, there were a lot of characters I had no idea who they were but I had no clue. I don't know if that was my fault or the writing.

The main couple Kai and Zoey didn't have the best chemistry and then the end felt very abrupt. I loved Zoey her humor was amazing, and I loved Kai's grumpiness but I didn't feel anything towards them, it honestly felt like in the end he only wanted his powers and not his mate.

I read this book as an ARC member. This is the fourth book in the Elemental Mates Series
Omg, I absolutely loved Kai and Zoey. What an amazing story. Full of unexpected twists and turns of events. I was relieved to hear Navana speak and also learn that her daughter is alive after grieving for so many years. The despicable atrocities her mate did to her.
Wow awesome read Miranda and Kyra!!! I'm just sad that it ended so abruptly 😪

Good read and happy for this warrior

This was one of the best storylines so far in the series. The Commander is determined to find the human female Zoe as he promised. His crew is worried about him going it solo. Zoe is funny in the driest sense of humor. She wakes up from her sleep pod and no ones is there with her. She is out in the middle of the jungle, and without clothes! Read On!

I started the first book a few months ago and couldn't get into it and very prematurely gave up on the series however I'm glad I gave it another shot. I jumped to the 4th book, Tempest, and I really enjoyed it! The heroine is awesome, I really like her personality and wit. Kai wasn't bad either. I'm ready to backpedal and read the other books now. I admit I was lost in regards to the backstory so yeah, it's probably best to read these in order.

Hot Hot Hot

This book was AMAZING!! I loved Kai and Zoey. Kai and Zoey's relationship collides when he is given orders to rescue her and lets just say sparks immediately fly! Eventhough Kai feels an immense loyalty to his people, and any relationship with Zoey breaks tradition you can tell their bond is worth the fight. This book was everything the doctor ordered. :)

Loooved it

It was EPIC!!!! Love how everything is coming together ❤. How the story now makes sense of the reason why they don't have females and all is getting close the the real ending!!!! The only thing did I didn't get or you didn't write its why Navana had turned to her original color or race if she was Stormblood??? 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Excellent!

Kai is tasked with landing on a planet and retrieving a human that crashed there. Zoey runs o to him and with one touch she unlocks his potential, only he had a lot of baggage. I love this series and I recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment. There is a larger story arch within the series so it's important to start at the beginning.

Tempest

Something about this story didn’t gel with me. The characters were ok but didn’t seem to match each other. I will continue to read the series because so far, it’s hit or miss about the quality of the storyline. Sometimes you get a good one. There are sexual scenes in the book. If this is offensive to you, don’t bother with this story.

I enjoyed Kia's story. His family dynamic is much different from the other Commanders. And tragedy has molded his life path. This book sets the stage for the coming war. So looking forward to the last two books and seeing how the Airblood Commander learns the lesson of EATING CROW!!!
