Welcome to Witch Hazel Lane... Ever since Birdie Devaine set foot in The Hampton House, she knew it was something special. Her hard work finally paid-off after her new business boomed during the holiday season, giving her and her friends much to celebrate. But Birdie’s good luck is about to run out. A series of nearly deadly mishaps plague the house as she struggles to keep the rumors that the place is truly haunted at bay. The only thing haunting the house is her ghostly dog, Grifter, and he’s hardly causing chaos these days. And it’s not just her business that’s suffering… it’s her heart. It seems as soon as she re-kindles her relationship with her old flame Lucifer, she finds out that he’s been keeping secrets from her. Secrets that may have to do with what's going on inside The Hampton House. Birdie can't help but wonder if it's the house or her life that’s cursed. And if the curse is real… who cast it? This book contains plenty of southern sass, friendship, some delicious comfort food, and a little bit of magic along the way!

Birdie’s thrilled that things are going well with her new business, where she rents out her house for photo shoots. She also is happy that things are going so well with Luke. Then she starts having dreams and Luke starts missing dates or cutting out early. Things in the house start going haywire. What’s going on?
This was a fun book filled with lots of humor and mystery. The characters are great; they’re capable of dealing with whatever falls into their laps, and the writing is excellent. It’s an easy read that will keep you turning pages.
I enjoyed this book very much.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
Just when things start looking up, it starts to spiral downwards and Birdie is left with a cursed house which does not mind hurting anyone who is in it.
I have enjoyed the series very much so far but I think this one is probably one of my favourites. Collins bring together real friends who are prepared to stop at nothing to help each other. Their loyalty and bond is touching and awesome and so very inspiring to think that there could be people out there who are in it for the long run. Love the crowd and the book!!
I loved this continuation of Witch Hazel Lane Series. J. L. Collins gave me the mystery and and surprises I look for in her stories. There are really strange things happening with Hampton House. West of Wicked takes you the journey of figure out what's going on. As all the weird things are happening, Birdie is also dealing with Lucifer acting strangely. J. L. Collins brought in a lot of surprises in this one. I'm usually not surprised with her books but this one was off the charts surprising. I love how Birdie and the ladies of Witch Hazel Lane have each others backs. J. L. Collins brought in a character I didn't see coming, all I can say is WELL DONE! As things were revealed I even got a little teary eyed. I loved it!!! I read on Kindle Unlimited.
I really like the Witch Hazel Lane Mysteries, but I think this one was my favorite! Birdie and Ruby’s business of using Hampton House as a venue for professional photo shoots begins to flounder when a series of strange ‘accidents’ start disrupting the photo sessions. Is the house haunted or cursed? Birdie has to figure it out and fix it before the business goes under and the house falls down around her.
This is such a unique and fun series! The characters feel so real and their distinct personalities make for a very enjoyable reading experience. The mysteries in each of the books have been interesting and well developed, but the relationships among this group of friends is what really sets this series apart. At the core of this series is how the bond of friendship provides support, strength, loyalty and joy. The books in the series stand on their own and can be read in any order, but reading them in order gives a richer reading experience and allows you to get a real feel for the characters and their relationships.
Just as Birdie and Ruby's business is taking off, strange things start to happen around the house. Things that were fixed and perfect are causing harm. In the scariest adventure yet, Birdie faces her suddenly not dead grandmother and Lucifer's handiwork and yet another seemingly impossible challenge. Full of surprises and the wonderful friends in the city of Nell, you won't want to put this book down once you begin! It's Birdie's best "adventure" so far. Great story!
Birdie has settled down and is working with Ruby to market her home for photo shots. Only now everything seems to go wrong. Zaps when she turns on the lights, creaks and groans, water leaks. What is going wrong. It seems the house is cursed, but how would that happen? And how can Birdie fix it?
Great book! I love this series. Fantastic neighbors who support Birdie no matter who she is. Great old house. Great ending.
This is the seventh series. Birdie and Ruby’s business of photoshoots from within and around Hampton House is hits a snag when the sessions are interrupted by strange occurrences. Is the house haunted, cursed or something else?
I like this series because the women are strong and interesting and the plots are always well thought out and diversified.
I was given an advanced reader’s copy and am not required to give a positive review.
What a great read! Birdie and Ruby are doing well with their new business of doing photo shoots in Birdie’s home. The house starts making noises and causing accidents that seem to escalate over time. It seems the house is cursed, and Birdie and her friends find a spell that may counteract the curse. This book was so enjoyable to read and I loved the ending. I received an advance readers copy of this book and I am leaving a voluntary review.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Birdie’s house is falling apart...literally...and only powerful magic can make things right again. I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. The characters are well developed, the plot is brilliant and the writing is top notch. I’m looking forward to more from this author. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
An absolutely lovely conclusion to Birdie's story, if indeed this is the end. This story was full of the strong friendships that make this series so wonderful, and showed again how being true to yourself is your greatest strength. I missed a couple books in the series but didn't mind at all. Will definitely go back and read them now!
I loved the book, love the group of women band together to help Berdie. I love how she beat her grandmother. Restored her house. I love how the women got to say good bye to there friend in the end. Looking forward to more stories of Witch Hazel Lane. Thank you J.L. Collins.
I didn't find the first quarter of the book too enjoyable. It was sort of confusing and at times I skipped parts but then about half way through it got better and by the end it was great. I laughed, I cried, and I enjoyed the ending although it was a bit contrived and unbelievable. I totally recommend this book.
Ok J L Collins get a hold of Birdie. She is 138 years old, she should be beyond petty jealousy. She is a good person but she also is insecure, she seems the the type who would look through her man’s wallet or check his phone she is not 17 and there was no reason not to trust the man. All people make mistakes
A very nice read. I've kept up with the series, like the flow, but this one kind of lost me in the middle, too much going on, but near the end came back to me. It's nice to know that grandma is finally out of the picture and maybe Lucifer is back in. Look forward to the next book.
Another great addition to the Witch Hazel Lane mystery series. Birdie’s new business is doing well after a bumpy start, until bad things start happening in her house. Is it a haunting or a curse? The books in this series are full of intriguing mysteries but they are also about strong women, friendship and loyalty. They can be read out of order, however, I recommend reading the series in order as each book builds on the last.
Love this series and this book Birdie and ruby new business was going great then bad luck hit or was it bad luck maybe a curse ???? Lucifer came back into birdies life but he was keeping a secret . Girls work together to figure our mystery of bad luck and fix it
I Loved this book, capital L. A perfect book to really escape with. I love the characters, and it’s all very well written in a more-ish way. If you’re looking for a great mystery with a little bit of magic, then look no further!
JL Collins developed her characters, grew their relationships, and made me want to join their tribe of friends too. Birdie may be " just your average witch", but her friendships are extraordinary!
I love this series so much. The author does an outstanding job describing everything that the pages just fly by. The characters are so well written that they seem to be your friends also. Great writing and storytelling makes this book and series fly by. Great Reading Everyone!
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was interesting to see a little more into Birdie's past. This book is a wild ride and will grab you early on & leave you wanting more. Look forward to the next book.
