There are a lot of things I don’t want in life: ★ Being without a home. ★ Sharing custody of my four-year-old with my ex. ★ And anything to do with Barnabas Gritt, AKA Springs Falls Casanova, and my daughter’s favorite person in the world. Of course, he has to be a superhero and save me from being homeless. And of course, I’m expected to fall for him the same way everyone else does. But I won’t go down without a fight—maybe only with a few kisses.
***
I don’t make promises, not anymore. Most women in town know the deal and enjoy what I have to offer. No complaints. Only stuck-up Avery judges me for it. But when she blurts out that we’re together when we obviously aren’t, she opens the door to a possibility neither of us is ready to explore. And if her daughter already has me under her spell, it only takes me one kiss, to fall hard for the last person I expected.
♥ A fake relationship, small town romance in the heart of the Gritt Family with all the raw, the real and the romantic of a Gabrielle G's story. ♥ Dive into book 3 in the Gritt Family Series. Can be read as a standalone.
Untamed is the first book by this author and I truly enjoyed this book. It’s a standalone, but is recommended you read the other books in the series first. It does not take away from the book, but I can see where I could understand the other couples a little more.
Untamed is a perfect enemy to lovers book with a good amount of steam in the second half is the book.
Barnabas and Avery have been enemies most of their lives. Avery hates him and assumes the worst of him besides being the town's manwhore. She is a single mother with a very complicated past with her daughter’s father. Barnabas is the town's manwhore who keeps all of his pain hidden inside, funny as all hell, and adores Avery’s daughter.
Avery is stuck between a rock in a hard place and quick on her feet needs Barnabas help. Barnabas will help as it aids Avery’s daughter. They set rules in place and I have to laugh at the rules. After a life-changing kiss, everything changes, and I have whiplash from so much push and pull between the two.
Untamed is a beautiful story. With some scheming in the background and suspense. My only constructive criticism is there is some repetition. I know Barnabas is a man whore. I didn’t need to be kept a reminder of the fact every so many chapters.
Another fantastic addition to the Gritt family stories. In Untamed we get Barnabas and Avery. Barn is carefree, rarely affected by anything in life and unabashedly claims the title of town slut. He has his reasons and doesn't care to share them. Avery is a single mother, burned by a man she thought would be her everything and she is not going to fall for it again. The two are more than just fire and ice, they are more like embers and metal. Intense heat that slowly changes the outcome of an element. So mesmerizing, that anyone watching would not be able pull away their gaze until they've seen it through. The writing gives you layers of feelings, wrapped in a blanket of uncensored reality. Many authors give the characters a "hidden" shameless attitude and personality. The Gritt family is real, they live life to it's fullest, living hard and loving harder. I recommend Untamed for anyone looking to experience a story of growth from a past that haunts, uncertainty of the future and characters doing everything they can to protect their hearts.
Barnabas is by far my favourite out of the Gritt children. He is just one of those guys you can't help but love. The dynamic between him and Avery was beyond entertaining. I loved their whole enemies to lovers story. I couldn't get enough of this book! The Gritt Family Series is definitely one you will want to read! Untamed by Gabrielle G. is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
This book is exactly what I needed. This story is an emotional roller-coaster, an explosion of raw feelings and an authentic struggle with tragic life events, but also a beautiful, funny and romantic love story. The erotic scenes are...let’s just say...HOLLY SH!T! scorching hot 🔥
Barnabas and Avery are enemies their whole life. She hates him and he loves makes her hate him 😂 Yes, he is a pro in making her crazy angry since their childhood.
Barnabas is the kind of man that doesn't take life seriously, or so everyone thinks. His purpose in life seems to be partying and making his way though female population in the small town.
Avery only happiness in life is her daughter. And her daughter's happiness is her mother and her enemy Barnabas. Avery judges everyone and everything but mostly Barnabas for his casanova lifestyle. She's called stuck-up Avery for a reason. I love Avery, she is strong and stubborn and doesn't let the small towns gossip interfere with her life.
But after a life changing kiss, the dynamic of the story takes a dramatic twist, that makes the story an unbelievable sweet, swoony and even more hot 🔥 experience. Gosh! I love Barnabas. He's the epitome of a perfect bookboyfriend 🥰❤
Did I make you curious? Because I can't tell you anything more, otherwise I'll spoil the story. Before you think that I have already written way too much about this book, let me tell you that it is just a glimpse of this beautiful story.
This book closed all the circles for this series in a really fantastic way. I loved Barn. He was a really fun hero to read and I just loved his relationship with Alexis. To me that was one of the best parts of the book. A definite must read!
*~*~*~* 𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖: Avery is a single mom trying her best to make a living for herself and her daughter. When her ex blindsides her with rearranging their custody agreement AND kicking her out of her apartment, she’s left scrambling to find a living situation.
Barnabas is the town party boy—always up for a good time, especially if that time involves a no-strings attached fling. But, when this momma’s boy is asked to help Avery and her daughter, he finds himself giving up that lifestyle to let them move in.
But when Avery needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend to excuse their living arrangement with her ex, they both find that they might be in too deep. Can they both continue to live in the boxes they’ve put each other in, or will they find that there’s no boundaries when it comes to love? *~*~*~* 𝕊𝕖𝕩 𝕊𝕔𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕤: This author always knows how to write steamy scenes. ALWAYS. It’s respectful, yet raunchy. Gives slow burn vibes to explosive scenes. And has you feeling all the FEELS. I loved the scenes in this book—they’re as untamed as the title alludes to! 🔥🔥🔥🔥.5/5 for variety, frequency, and level of spice! *~*~*~* 【$】: FREE in KU! I’m going to come out and say that this book is my FAVORITE of the Gritt Family series. I’m not usually one to throw around words like ‘book boyfriend’, but if I were to ever have one, Barnabas would be mine. He’s soulful, fun, loving, and everything this quiet single momma would ever look for. If you’re looking for your next book boyfriend, give this book a DL!
This is my first Gabrielle G book...and holy wow. I need to go back and read the other books in this series. This is a raw, emotional, hot, beautiful love story between two people (and a child) and their families.
Avery is doing her best to survive, raise her daughter and deal with her ex. She needs to call in some favors and the last person she wants to deal with with is Barnabas but right now he may be her only option.
Barnabas doesn’t have the best reputation; his actions are based on some deep seeded guilt and pain. Although Avery can’t stand Barnabas her daughter Alexis thinks he is amazing and they loves spending time together. When Avery’s ex pulls a fast one she goes running to Barnabas.
They enter into an agreement that will benefit both of them and Alexis but things change quickly with just one kiss. This book is smokin hot, sweet, beautiful and will leave you wanting more.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Gabrielle G. is a talented writer. I read the whole series and this one just made it the best of the best! I think this story had the best plot, but most importantly, the best hot scenes of the whole series ♥️ The dynamic and the love story between these two will keep you turning the pages, wanting more and craving for more! I loved both characters especially Barnabas. Simply because I love male characters what can I do? Lol This story is a must read if you’re into small town fake relationship between a gorgeous man and a single mother! The Gritt Family is one of my fav series by Gabrielle. She just knows how to make my heart happy lol
I started reading Gabrielle G with Darling Devils Series, which had interesting characters that found their own series with Angels and Sunshine, which lead me to The Gritt series. I thoroughly enjoyed everyone of the books prior to this one. Truth be told while I was looking forward to Barnabas' story, he was a let down for me. A stereotypical character that was not very interesting. He does redeem himself with his relationships with his dad and Alexis, the adorable daughter belonging to his life long frenemy Avery. The entire Gritt family knows too much, gossips too much and butts in too much, except the one town secret everyone doesn't talk about. The epilogue was both surprising and underwhelming IMO. This book seemed to close out this series and I don't recommend reading this unless you know some of the other stories as you might be confused or need a scorecard.
The Gritt family is back in this third book of the series and Gabrielle G saved the best Gritt for last. On the outside he may seem like a hot mess but when life gets real Barnabas is perfection! Avery has been entwined in the Gritt family one way or another but tries to keep them at arms length. This emotional story about a man doing everything he can to avoid his past and a woman doing everything she can to ensure the best future for herself and her daughter was such a great read. While they start off together as a lie their chemistry can't be denied!
I loved each of these characters stories by themselves and how they work through it all together. The banter between them and the entire family made this story one I couldn't put down. If you haven't read this series you must - this family will grip onto your heart in the best possible way!
This book is special. Quite possibly my favourite of the Gritt books. It is the perfect conclusion to the series with Barnabas and Avery stealing my heart.
I really fell in love with Barnabas through his relationship with Avery's daughter, Alexis. The sweet exchanges between them had me swooning, smiling and falling faster in love with Barn. Their relationship is truly something special.
As expected, Untamed has an epilogue that will leave your heart smiling. Sure, Barnabas and Avery have their ups and downs. The road to a HEA is bumpy and has a few surprises. But in the end they are exactly where they are meant to be.
I'm sad to part ways with The Gritt's and can only hope one day we get a prequel into the couple who started it all. ❤️
She left the best for last. I love Barnabas I waited so long for his story and enjoyed it so much.
Barnabas is the youngest in the Gritt Family, and the most vulnerable and sweetest one ever! He has his reasons and because of it has become the town Casanova with rumors swirling constantly around about his extracurricular affairs lol. At a point like he says you believe what you want to believe.
Avery is going through a difficult time being a single mom and deceived for so many years. She’s trying to get her life back together and one thing she doesn’t need is to get Barned!
I love this story, the vulnerability that is shown with Barnabas and the stubbornness of Avery works so well they blend together perfectly with the bonus of little Alexis!
Barnabas! Let’s just say, I was not a fan of him in the first book. Did he redeem himself in his book? Yes he did. Absolutely.
Avery and Barnabas know each other for a long time already, and they are ‘sworn’ enemies. At least from Avery’s point of view. Barn takes his fun out of this, and plays the part he doesn’t have a care in the world! But is this really true? Let’s also throw in Avery’s daughter Alexis. Who is the biggest fan of Barn, and he’s of her. And when Avery needs help, Barn is the one who provides it. And she can’t say no, right?!
This book, I devoured it! Seriously. It’s the best book I must say so. What is the saying: save the best for last? The author definitely did that. This book is full of emotions, the whole palette up and down! The sex scenes? Holy whatever it’s hawt! I had to turn on the a/c in between. I can honestly say I really enjoyed this book. It’s a must read. Especially when you read this series, it gives you some conclusions and explanations!!
I’ve been anticipating Barnabas’ story for quite some time! Gabrielle G did not disappoint. Barn and Avery’s journey is one of my faves. The push and pull between them was magnetic! This story was all sorts of hot, sweet, funny... all the feels. Grab yourself a copy today!!
Oh, Gabrielle, you have stolen my heart again. Just when I thought I could not love characters more than Dan, Lars, and Art, you bring around this Gritt family. Now I did enjoy Salome's book, and even though Chris took the name Gritt, he's not a Gritt (and I liked Chris a lot). And Luke, although a Gritt, hasn't been part of this series. Aaron and Alane broke me; their story was so painful and took so long. But Banarbas (sorry, can't resist that Lex-ism), he was something completely unexpected, and you didn't know you needed him until he got there.
Barnabas is this outward mixture of "hold my beer" jokester, stoner/hippie, and IDGAF. It's jarring to realize he's 38, and that sets the tone of the story. He seems as though on the surface to be ok with his life as the "town slut," but what we quickly discover most is supposition, which he does not dissuade. He's just going through the motions to a great degree--numb by choice. Avery is the stuck up one, and Barnabas has been the bane of her existence for as long as she can remember. She, too, is going through the motions to a great degree--just trying to survive as a single mom with a jerk of a sperm donor. So begins one of the BEST enemies to lovers stories I have ever read. These two characters are so unique, and when we get below the surface, we see two perfectly matched souls. Then there is Lex, Avery's daughter; she is, in a word, adorable. She owns Barnabas, heart, and soul. Barnabas and Avery were brave and bold; I loved that. They were unconventional, just like their parents. Once they found each other and acknowledged their feelings, they did not let go. Beautiful.
This story wasn't angsty, it was a fun romp with the Gritt family, and all the Gritts were there. Plus, we got some inside information on the beginning of the next series/books. I hope hope hope there will be stories involved Lex and all her brothers and sisters, Arthur (son of Salome and Chris), and more about Aaron and Alane's kids. This family and extended family that loosely includes the Darling Devils just needs to continue into the next generation. There is no telling what high jinx can be gotten into with Barnabas, Dex, and Luke. But I definitely don't want to be saying good-bye to the Gritts just yet.
In Untamed, we finally get Barnabas’ story and I’m so here for it. Somehow I’ve known since the beginning of this series that I was going to love Barnabas the most and I certainly do! His and Avery’s story is raw and real and powerful.
“Feeling you belong to the person you despised the most is phenomenal and painful at the same time.”
Avery and Barnabas have been at each other’s throats for years, but Avery’s daughter, Lex, loves him. When he offers to watch Lex one night, Avery begins to see another side of him and when she slips and tells her ex that Barnabas is her boyfriend, the games begin.
“He’s the most altruistic person I have ever met. He breathes to free me from my assumptions and my ways and helps me be who I’m supposed to be, not who I think I should be.”
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Avery because she seemed too judgmental and uptight at first, but as we got to know her and the reasons for her actions, I saw her strength. Barnabas helped her to open up and shed her walls and become more joyful.
“When I’m near her, I feel I can be myself. I can be me, entirely, wholly, and I don’t have to hide.”
I would have never guessed the pain that was hidden behind Barnabas’ mischievous grin. He was so broken and his love for Avery allowed him to grow up and begin to heal. His sweet soul and love for Avery and Lex was breathtaking.
“We both know that one kiss is all it took to open the kingdom of possibilities of what we could be.”
From the first kiss, both Avery and Barnabas realized that they shared a very special connection, which frightened both of them. The chemistry between them was palpable and they were truly soulmates. Once they started opening up to each rather than pushing each other away, they realized that they were better together than apart. Their journey was heartbreaking and beautiful.
I have loved each and every one of the Gritt family books and I’m sad to say goodbye to them. This family is snarky but so full of love and laughs. Untamed is definitely my favorite in the series. Barnabas and Avery’s relationship will tug at your heart and make you FEEL!!
I want to first state that I went into this book blind. I mean I had some ideas about these characters. I have all 3 of the other Gritt siblings books sitting on my kindle. I just haven't had a chance to read them. This book states it can be read as a standalone though I wanted to read the others first. I had all intentions on doing so. I just never found the time. Now I wish I had. I feel like I would have had a much better understands of all the secondary characters.
I absolutely love that the characters in this book are much older. It's a joy for me to see older couples finding love and their happily ever after. I loved both Barnabas and Avery and their whole opposites attract relationship. Though if I really think about it they really weren't opposites. They were just two broken souls trying to navigate through the hardships of life without anyone by their side. Lex was an adorable addition. The bond she had with Barnabas was so touching.
The emotions in this book really helped add to it. The strong could be strong even while emotions poured out of them. There was never any true weakness. Tears were okay. These grown men and women felt so real, especially once we got into the nitty gritty of the story.
I know once I get a chance I'm gonna dive right into the rest of the Gritt family. I have Bella to thank for that! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
For the most part I enjoyed this book but a few things bugged:
Barns is 38 and still screwing around which is fine, but how the hell does that make him a good candidate for a LT mate? He admits in the book he likes variety - all I see is cheating to fill this need in his future - I don't care what the epilogue implies. Or the fact that he is 'clean'. I hate that in books- you screw hundreds of people but you have no LT STD's - yeah right. Eye roll. And your love interest wants to go bare back with no worries. I am not reading a real fairy tale here folks no matter what you think.
Avery - Is realistic but almost too harsh at times. I can't honestly see what Barns sees in her and vice/versa. I just didn't feel the chemistry.
Overall I like the writing style but the judging in the book of 'judging people' also set my teeth on edge. Some people have an issue with people fucking anything that attracts them. It's called values not judgment. Its what helps people decide if they are compatible. Funny how Avery hasn't fucked half the state but Barnes has. Seems to be the way in these books. Stars off for that cliche. And the fact they have no issue fucking people in relationships.
Lastly wtf is up with the triplets? I couldn't figure out if they were adapted or IVF? And the 7 kids comment? That left me thinking foster kids? The epilogue was just too too far in the future for me.
Instalment number 3 of the Gritt Family series, these books are also stand alone reads but best read in order to understand the entire storyline of Untamed.
This book was Barnabus and Avery’s story, however I struggled with this story a bit. Barnabus for me has been my least favourite character throughout the books. The youngest of the Gritt siblings but also the town $lut that likes his women quick and fast.
Barnabus grew up teasing Avery, who learned to despise Barn with everything she had. When her and her 4 year old daughter Alexis fall upon troubled times, the only person left to catch them is none other than Barn.
The frenemies to lovers storyline is great, as is the heat, passion and raw unadulterated feelings oozing off the pages, but I found myself getting lost in some parts of the story while other parts seemed to align all the answers to the questions we held onto throughout all 3 books (enter the Gritts meddling mother Bella 😏).
I loved the tender moments of Barn and Lexi, becoming father and daughter and I really enjoyed the heartbreaking hidden secrets of Barns that let the reader see a much softer side of Barn.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series and would recommend them to anyone looking for a very adult, saucy, hot, angsty read.
The last of the Gritt siblings, after reading the other siblings books, I was very curious how Barn was going to get his happy ever after. Fake relationship/childhood to adult frenemies/single mom/cutest little girl. Ah Barnabas. He was quite the character to take in. I was not feeling Avery and Barnabas at the beginning of the book, but they did in fact grow on me.
Barnabas is the town playboy, sleeps with anyone but he is also a good guy. He just loves women, but there is more to him than meets the eye, so much more. Avery, uptight, single mother with a crap of an ex, who is also the father of her little girl. A situation arises and some quick thinking put her in a situation where she said she was dating Barnabas and now he's playing along. There always was something about Avery he just wants to unravel and he absolutely adores her daughter Lex so much. There is so much more between Barn and Avery, the book is full of HOT steam, lots of sibling love, and DEX!!! A good addition to the series.
My, oh my...let’s just take a minute right from the start to give Barnabas the proper swooning he deserves! I honestly didn’t think the town Casanova aka, baby of the Gritt family, had it in him to win me over but boy was I so very wrong! Barn definitely gave Luke a run for his money as being my favorite member of the Gritt family. While this story still had those real and raw moments that I’ve come to expect from Gab it was much lighter than the other books in this series which I wasn’t expecting but wasn’t mad about either. I loved how Barn turned into a different person around Avery’s daughter. It was as if she brought out the best parts of him and it made my heart happy reading about their relationship. I also loved the ability Barn had to push Avery over the edge with just a few sentences, it’s been a while since I laughed so hard! This was enemies to lovers done to perfection with an amazing amount of banter, steam (omg the heat the two of them create!!) and self discovery. Once I started reading I literally did zero adulting until I read every last word.
Gabrielle G has created a world where characters from different books cross over creating a group if family and friends unlike any other. This us the 3rd book of the Gritt family that focuses on Barnabas, the youngest Gritt. Barn is a well known manwhore in their small town. Avery isnt what you wound call his friend, but they hangout with the same people. She doesnt approve of his love em and leave em ways. Unfortunately her daughter thinks of him as her best friend and their parents have known each other for years. When she needs him the most, he comes through for her and Alexis. Their time together allows Avery to see there is more to Barnabas Gritt than what he lets people see.
The Gritt family is a meddling but loyal family. In this book you get to see just how meddling Bella has been though the years! All the siblings make appearances which fun to connect with them once again. I hate to see the end of the Gritt family series but look forward to what is next from this author!
Gabrielle G has done it again! I honestly can’t gush enough about how much I loved reading Untamed. I’m so happy to finally have this story as heartbreakingly beautiful as it is. It was easy to get lost in the story of Barnabas and Avery, this book has all the feels. This was an amazing frenemies-to-lovers romance that will make you laugh and cry, right along with the characters feeling like you are on an emotional rollarcoaster with them. I especially enjoyed catching up with all the members of the Gritt family as they made appearances throughout the book. As always, Gabrielle’s flow and writing style was wonderful, I could barely put down the book once I started it.
Roller coaster ride of emotion. We return to the Gritt farm where Avery Dubois is continuing to run a wedding planning business started by Salomé Gritt. Barnabas Gritt uses the area to run his adventure business and owns and lives in the property’s barn. This enemies to lovers story is gripping and heartbreaking. Familiar faces and family all make cameo appearances. Barn loves to torment Ave and thinks she’s stuck up but he shares an unbreakable bond with her daughter Alexis. Break out the fruit rollups and watch out for that moose as you watch the story unfold. Lots of betting as per usual at the Gritt farm.
I loved this book! Once I started reading I could not put it down and was dying to know what was going to happen next between Barnabas and Avery. Their enemies to lovers relationship had so much chemistry it was off the charts when they were in the same room together. Not only are they amazing characters but Barnabas has an entire amazing family that I loved getting to know. This story had some very surprising moments as well as some super steamy ones. This is a must read book for sure!
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Omg I am in love with Barnabas Gritt! Not only is this a fake romance but is also an enemies to lovers story. There is so much heat between all the banter that is Barn and Avery. There is so much I loved about their story that would take days to list. If you read one book this year, make sure it's Untamed. Going to read the other two Gritt Family novels!
I've been counting down the days until this Barnabas story was out. Let me just say, it was worth the wait. My boo Barnabas was everything I expected him to be and more. Gabrielle G did an amazing job with this book.
I found Untamed to be an entertaining and heart warming read. The story, the cast , the laughs and chemistry fused together perfectly.
Barnabas and Avery was unexpected in a good way. These two had me laughing so much between their hate for each other and the obvious attraction.
The amazing Gritt family came through with all their shenanigans and a few surprises. I couldn't get enough of them.
This book touched me on so many levels. How beautifully is was written How the characters were magically written. They werent perfect. They had scars. I loved it so much. Your scars are beautiful Don't hide them wear them and be proud they made you the person to today. And one day you will find someone who will love you and will love you because of your scars. Barnabas and Avery took my heart with them
I enjoyed this story more than i expected to, Barnabas is the baby of the Gritt family and one i didn't see changing his ways and falling in love.. Until Avery.. shy but sassy queen and with an adorable little girl.. And omg the fire between Avery and Barn definitely set me alight lol. This story had me laughing out loud and holding my breath waiting to know what happens next! You definitely won't be disappointed reading this 😊 Gabrielle G releases yet another fantastic story.
Fake relationships are not usually my jam but I really enjoyed this story! Barnabas might be a ladies men, but that's not only why Avery can't stand him..too bad her daughter loves him and he is there to help when she needs it. These two have a love hate relationship, but even the hate can't stop the attraction. These two push and pull, but will they be able to come to an agreement? Great story, plenty of feels and fun times too.
