Uğur Mumcu was an intrepid Turkish Kemalist intellectual, investigative journalist and columnist for the leading Kemalist broadsheet, Cumhuriyet who was known for indicating that Kemalism and Socialism aren't different ideologies and that imperialist nations had corrupted the Turkish state and army. He was killed by a bomb placed in his car, outside his home.
Uğur Mumcu was born as the third of four siblings in Kırşehir, where his father was working. He went to school in Ankara and in 1961 attended School of Law at Ankara University. After graduation in 1965, he practiced law for a while. He then visited England to learn English and upon his return to Turkey worked as a teaching assistant at Ankara University from 1969 to 1972.

On the morning of 24 January 1993, he left his home and was killed by a C-4 plastic bomb as he started his car; a Renault 12, license numbered 06 YR 245.

There are numerous hypotheses over who was responsible for his murder.

Dear Uğur Mumcu, who has written about the nature of revolutionism in a wonderful way. It is such a comprehensive book that I would say it should be read for the purpose of the lesson.

Just as science needs a free consciousness in order to progress continuously, the same pedestal is needed for the progress of man and the society to which he belongs. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said, "If one day my words contradict science, choose science." Uğur Mumcu has explained to us by opening up that a consciousness like his word can only be a revolutionary consciousness.

Uğur Mumcu says that this is neither western admiration, nor American puppetry, nor will it happen with Soviet guidance. He says that only and only by establishing and maintaining a fully independent Republic of Turkey on its own feet can we reflect it in real life. and he is very critical of the Turkish left. It reminds us again of the concept of the left and the concept of revolutionism.

not by word, but by deed...

Trying to destroy a value like Uğur Mumcu is also important in terms of seeing exactly what the struggle is being waged against. also, Uğur Mumcu is a ball of flame and continues to glow.
