Elanraigh

A Scourge of Shadows

Rate this book
Why had she acted on the compulsion to enter the dangerous and forbidden cave? Well, why not—Forest-Mind must realize she is no longer a small child who must have a candle at night ... besides, the Elanraigh is keeping secrets, just like Chamakin and even her father …

Something is going on, and she intends to discover what. There! Something crawling at the edge of her vision—shadowy phantoms, writhed against the limestone cave wall. She felt their awareness of her, and the strength of their enmity and desire to possess her—to draw her lifeforce into itself.

About the author

Sandra A. Hunter

Sandra A Hunter has always lived at the edges of ocean and forest in the Pacific Northwest, so it came naturally to have a sentient forest as a major character in her Elanraigh series (YA/Adult High Fantasy) beginning with The Guardian Forest (published 2019) and its sequel A Scourge of Shadows ( coming 2020)
Similarly, the Dragon Heir series, beginning with Daughter of Earth & Fire, The Fledgling (published 2020) takes place in the mountains and river valleys of the Pacific Northwest.
The Guardian Forest (first published by Caliburn Press as Elanraigh: The Vow) was awarded the Dante Rossetti Award (2014), First in Category, Young Adult High Fantasy, from Chanticleer Book Reviews.
Sandra’s short story, And the Coyotes Sang, won Spinetingler’s Dark Fiction Writing Competition; and she has been published in On Spec, and poetry in Gaslight, Lynx and Women & Recovery.
Sandra’s a member of SF Canada, The Burnaby Writers Society, and W.I.P. (a Vancouver Island writers group).
She’s a “fair weather” kayaker, and a lousy gardener.
She has a ready sense of humour and an optimistic outlook (a good thing, when you’re a writer). She enjoys time spent either on her deck, or in her office, laptop at hand, a glass of wine and a view of either ocean or coastal mountains— and being spirited away by her characters.
