Kimberley Montpetit once spent all her souvenir money at the La Patisserie shops when she was in Paris—on the arm of her adorable husband. The author grew up in San Francisco, another swoon-worthy city, loves all things Parisian and chocolate and lives in a small town along the Rio Grande with her family.

Kimberley has won many awards for her work, including the Southwest Book Award, the Whitney Award, the Arizona/New Mexico Book Award, is a Crystal Kite Finalist (SCBWI) and included in the Bank Street College Best Books of the Year.

She once stayed in a haunted castle tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed on the Seine in Paris, walked the beaches of Normandy, eaten in numerous French cafes, ridden a camel in Petra, Jordan, sunbathed on Waikiki, shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.

She adores all baked goodies; brownies, éclairs, donuts, tarts, and pie, and makes a lot of chocolate chip cookies while revising.

Kimberley is, of course, hard at work on her next novel(s).

Oh the Ambrose women. Strong and confident. Yet plagued with the ever looming curse. Emma is the sister who gets to shine in this book. I've loved all of the books in this series. I've loved the family curse and history behind the Ambrose estate and family. I've loved the spunk of each of these sisters and the grandma. I've loved the previous sisters finding their freedom from the curse. I've loved their stories and journeys. But with as much as I loved all the previous books, I have to say that Emma's story is my favorite.

There are so many wonderful aspects to this book. I loved the journey Emma takes and watching her become stronger and more resilient than she already is. I loved watching her find the ability to trust and love. *happy sigh*

From being on a dig in Egypt and discoveries there, to discovering the shocking truth of an empty family coffin, to going on a search with Emma of her family history and seeking the truth of where her ancestor's body has disappeared to, it was such a terrific read! Add in a strong male lead with a charming English accent who brings intrigue, sparks and mystery of his own. Yep, perfect combination of all things I enjoy in a book. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. I couldn't wait for more! I needed to unravel the mystery as fast as I could with Emma and Ian. The search was very interesting and inspiring. I had several guesses as to where the missing body was but I was wrong. I was happily wrong and loved it even more what the author did with the story. If you've had questions from the previous books, there are more clues and answers found in this book! I was utterly enthralled.

Emma and Ian have plenty of moments that had me laughing out loud. My family kept looking at me wondering what I was laughing at. But I couldn't help myself. It was funny! Their initial meeting...oh my embarrassing to say the least. Then their next meeting, ha! The sparks and connection between them and the secret he's holding close, it all adds tension to the already tense mystery of a missing body. The chemistry and sweet friendship and growing love had me wanting good things to happen for these characters. I wanted them to find closure to their heartaches and the mysteries occurring in their lives. The way everything was tied up and finished was very satisfying! I'm sad to say goodbye to this dynamic family, but I'm looking forward to what's next for these authors. And, bonus...I can always return to the Ambrose Estate and all the mystery anytime I pick up these books!

Content: Clean. Some mild innuendos. An ancient curse. A missing body and digging up a family graveyard to move it.

My own personal copy.

Happy Reading!!!

4.5 Stars. The Ambrose girls are back as is the family curse. Sadly, there IS a way around it but it hurts. Besides a truly grotesque sort of mystery, the reader is introduced to a gaslighting, narcissistic, and abusive man - perhaps a first for this author, at least to this degree. And there is a return to previous persons of dubious moral fiber. This book has it all. I haven’t been this taken by a romance novel in a long time. So let’s up it to 5 Stars.

I've been patiently waiting for this book to come out to finish the story of the Ambrose sisters. This was a great end to the series with Emma, not only making the find of a lifetime on an archaeological dig in Egypt, but finding love with Ian, solving a family mystery, and breaking the curse for herself.

As soon as Emma spills a Big Gulp on the guy at the gas station, I knew we'd see him again. It's such a memorable meet-cute, and I loved how they continued to tease each other over the incident while they worked together solving the mystery of her missing great-great grandfather’s body. Speaking of mystery, I enjoyed how Emma and Ian followed the clues to figure out where the body was, and it was a surprise (to me) when they found the connection between their family and Celeste Fontaine's. She was such a devious woman, who caused so much pain for the Ambrose family.

I liked that Emma was close to her sister Sofia and took care of the mystery of their missing great-great grandfather while Sofia handled the oil problem. Loved seeing their grandma Lillian again, she's a great character. I especially loved when Emma confronted the lying Omar and Ian's wonderfully swoon worthy surprise, and I loved the ending because both Emma and Ian both get to do what they love.

I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book in this series was definitely worth waiting for. I know it came out later than expected. But I am glad it finally came out. I love this series, the intrigue and suspense that you get to figure out while learning of family history as well. This takes stories of two families with lots of twist and turns and working together Ian and Emma figure it all out. I loved the excitement they both felt. They were a great pair to go through this journey. Great book!

I loved this story as much as I loved the rest of the series. I am sad that this is the end! There are still more sisters, right? This is the first story I have read where the love interest is a coroner! Ian makes the job seem exciting, fulfilling, and intriguing. Emma's job as an archaeologist seems thrilling! I would never have guessed how well those two professions could fit together. A very creative twist, especially for the mystery in this novel. The chemistry they share and the support they give one another is endearing.

This was an awesome story. I loved all the characters. I really enjoyed the discovery in Egypt and all the history that entailed. I fell in love with the cowboy coroner! I especially loved all the mystery surrounding the two graveyards and the research that it took to make all the discoveries. The romance between Ian and Emma was super sweet and clean.

More of a 3.5 for me as a reader. There were some moments that just didn't flow for me. But liked the novel overall I. Terms of plot, setting, and the situation some interesting moments with the graveyard and with her work as an archaeologist y.

Mostly Perilous brings The Women of Ambrose Estates series to a very satisfying conclusion. I love Emma and Ian's story. I was sucked in on page one and just lost myself in Emma's world. The century old curse plaques Emma as much as it did her sisters. The intrigue is just as suspenseful as in the other books. Many questions are answered in this book. The writing is superb. You really must check out this very excellent book.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book quite a bit. Trying to figure out where a missing body disappeared to would be daunting and it was interesting to see them follow the clues to figure it out. And thank heavens for the DNA testing of modern times to be able to get definitive answers.

I liked the mystery part of the book a little better than the romance part. I had a hard time feeling the transition from interesting stranger to love interest. There is a lot of kissing (nothing more than that) but I'm always more interested in what led up to the kissing than the kissing itself so I felt like I didn't get enough of that.

I liked both Emma and Travis. They had interesting careers to read a little about. Not career choices I read a lot about in romance novels. Each of the Ambrose sisters have been interesting characters.

I have enjoyed this series. The whole idea of a family curse is intriguing. The journal the sisters get clues from is terribly sad even if it does have a happier ending. I was glad to see they got so many answers to their family questions about the curse and previous generations of family. I look forward to reading about the other sisters.

Mostly Perilous is a well-written contemporary romance. Emma and Ian are likable and very interesting characters. I enjoyed reading about their developing romance. There are some sizzling kisses in this clean story. I love the relationship between Emma and her sister, Sofia. They are so close and supportive of each other. The plot has twists and turns in the present and in the past. (There's no time travel or anything like that.) The past is viewed by our characters as they read a journal, letters, and dig caskets up. An old gypsy curse adds tension to the story. I would definitely read more of this series and more of Kimberley Montpetit's other books. I highly recommend this to clean/wholesome romance readers. I got my copy through KU.

3.5*  This was an exciting addition to The Women of Ambrose Estate series.  It felt a little bit like a conclusion, but I wasn't totally sure if all the loose ends were wrapped up.  The mystery in the story was haunting, but the pacing and storytelling didn't seem smooth.  Plenty of sizzling romance, but not as much depth to Ian and Emma's relationship as I would've liked.  I am glad I got to see the full circle of the ancestors' story - definitely read the first story in the series first!

I received a complimentary copy of this book.  Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I've enjoyed this series about the Ambrose sisters trying to figure out their mysterious family curse and overcome it to find true love. Emma is an archeologist who has been working on a dig in Egypt and just discovered a rare crown. She is called home to Ambrose, TX for a family emergency. On her way home, she accidentally runs into a very handsome man and spills a large drink on him. The surprise is that he turns up at her ranch as the county coroner. Ian and Emma begin working on the family cemetery mystery and hope to find a way to overcome the curse. The ending of the series was well worth the wait. I received an ARC and am leaving my honest review.

Best of the series yet

This book is probably my favorite of the four. Emma is a talented yet fun-loving archaeologist. Emma and Ian have an awkward first meeting, to say the least, as well as moments in getting to know each other, thanks to Ian still grieving the loss of his first wife and their newborn child. But they're each attracted to the other, so it's just the Ambrose curse to figure out, right?

Ian is such a good character, well written/developed, and the perfect compliment for Emma. Thanks to his profession and side interest in archeaology, they have a lot in common. They work well together in solving the mystery that runs through the book.

Yes! I loved the conclusion to this series! I was thoroughly engaged in the story. I loved the references to Ancient Egypt, having taught about this to my own students. I was completely creeped out by some of the macabre elements in the story and, like Sofia, I had trouble sleeping at night. But the story itself was seamless from start to finish and I thought it was fantastic. A very satisfying end to the story that answered most of my questions, leaving a few minor ones unanswered, which just opens the imagination to the potentials... I highly recommend this book.

Great end to the series

This has been such an interesting series. I don't think I've read a gothic novel before, but I enjoyed the curse aspect of this series and how it made each of them better in the long run. This was a nice wrap up and I like how well the family handled things. Emma and Ian were so good together. At times I couldn't wait for them to talk again or see each other. I really enjoyed them. They were fun and helped keep this book light with all the craziness going on.

Archaeologist Emma Ambrose returns home for the summer after finishing up a successful dig in Egypt. At the ranch, oil is leaking into the family cemetery making it necessary to move the location of the cemetery. County Coroner, Ian Phelps is involved, particularly when the first and oldest casket in the cemetery breaks open and the body is missing. Ian and Emma and her sister search for clues as to what may have happened to the body. An engaging story and great addition to the series centered around a family curse and how to break it.

This last book is absolutely fabulous. I could not believe how Ms. Montpelit thought up all the things she put into this story. Digging up the family graveyard & discovering a BIG surprise. There are a couple of other mysteries also. I am said this series is over. All the books are so good though I enjoyed the first & last ones the most. I highly recommend them. I read them in the complete collection which I purchased.

Emma and Ian meet under some comical circumstances. Loved their interactions. The mystery and curse kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't wait to solve both mysteries. Sometimes love can win out even against the worst circumstances or people. Loved the ending and sad to see this series come to an end. This is my favorite book in this series!!!!

I can’t say enough about how this story pulled me in. I wasn’t thrilled to start it when it started at a dig in Egypt, but boy was I wrong. Without murder and mayhem, Kimberley Montpetit brought a real mystery that involves 100 year old graves, diaries, romance and relatives. Don’t expect to be able to put this one aside, just know it is a one more chapter story.

Great story

This was my favorite book in the series. The storyline was fun and intriguing. Learning more of the backstory of Margaret, George and Celeste was interesting. However, there were a lot of inconsistencies in the details.
