This book is an excellent resource to encourage and equip leaders to become leaders who develop other leaders. It's broken down into topics/competencies and is packed with wisdom.
I've been a part of leadership pipeline training with the author, Mac Lake, before and found his insight and experience to be invaluable to me as a leader-- this book packs a lot of that information into a book that I'll be referring to often.
This book is designed to be used as a tool for a trainer to mentor either one or a small group of new leaders. It balanced biblical and practical leadership lessons by discussing both character and competency. The thought-provoking questions cause the trainee to take a deep look at self. Our church plans to use it to develop leadership.
I enjoyed this way more than I was expecting, and found the content (and the group meetings for the class I was taking) really helpful. For me, it was particularly helpful in terms of learning to communicate better, learning others' communication styles, and graciously accepting feedback.
A thorough and very practical study guide for developing leaders in a church or ministry setting. Some (most) chapters were extremely practical and had very sound advice (like Giving Feedback). I will definitely use this when working to develop leaders of small groups and other ministry areas.
Don’t judge this book by it’s cover. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book to be practical and engaging. We know we’re supposed to be disciples but we’re not really told HOW. This book does just that. Not all of it was earth shattering but I think it’s a great start.
