This was a whirlwind of action!!!
You remeber Marion Ravenwood Jones from the Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Well, while reading this book I had her in mind!
Alex is a completly different heroine! Refreshingly so! She's young, but not stupid, she's beautiful and occasionally wears gowns. But she's also a competent naval captain and well respected by other male captains! She's also an acomplished businesswoman. And she's loved by her whole family! And she's American!
And she's not afraid to speak for herself and for others too!
I fell in love with her myself! LOL
But I fell in love with the hero too! Who wouldn't?!
He's a mountain of blond yummy man! (He reminded me of Indy, but in a bigger version!LAMOOO)
He's also an acomplished captain and resourceful man, highly intelligent and very daring. And he's British! And a Duke, no less!
And being an intelligent man what he could do but fall in love with Alex? And you see how the sparks fly where a witty American meets a sexy Brit!!! ;-)
If you loved Indy, if you love stories about mithological archeology with sexy MCs and non stop action with some really witty dialogues, I'm sure you'll love this book!

Every once in a while I love a good pirate story. Well, they don't have to be pirates per se, but I want a ship, some sails, and someone's got to land in the water. Must be my childhood on Cape Cod calling me but a good romance on the sea can make me hear the waves splashing against the boat and smell the salt water in the air. Trish Albright delivers all this and more in her oceanic adventure romances.
In Siren's Song - her debut novel - Albright sings a whale of tale about Alexandra Stafford (Alex) and the Duke of Worthington (Joshua) that takes you from the posh balls of elite England to the dangerous Moroccan palace of a vicious sultan.
There is a lot of intelligence in Alex which makes her a great heroine and Joshua is not the usually hero too tortured to realize that it is love he wants. This couple wants to be together, if just faith and circumstances would allow. And that is where the adventure of Albright's story comes in.
This is a page turner of a book but it never lacks for passion or true emotion. One particular scene with Joshua had me reaching for the tissues and won this novel a place in my permanent collection. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the Stafford series. (There are a lot of nice, story-worthy men introduced in this novel so I'm expecting great things in the Siren's future.)

Un romanzo dove si respira aria di avventura e di mare, scritto con ritmo e ironia (ma non troppa), che non manca di suspense e sensualità. Dialoghi divertenti e una trama insolita. Peccato che questa scrittrice abbia pubblicato così poco.

A fun adventure romance! The writing style and some plot elements are a little dated now, but it was very enjoyable overall.

The author is SO AWESOME at portraying the chemistry between the characters and the adventure that this book takes me on!
The ONLY reason I didn't give it all 5 stars is because after all of that blatant sexual tension and, being an old fashioned historical romance buff (no pun intended), I was disappointed that there was no "follow-through" in the book. ;)

Swash swash, buckle buckle. This fun little read embraces the cliches, a bit along the lines of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Nothing sophisticated, but it doesn't try to be, so it works. It's exactly what it is meant to be, which I always appreciate in any genre. A good, entertaining light read. Sweet (no sex!) yet salty (that's a pirate joke, get it?).

Alexandra is a Female Captain of her crew and they capture the Duke of Worthington and his men. They bring them back to her Island so that they have children since they live on an island with all women.

I really wanted to love this, but it just ending up being ok. The action was really well handled (description wise) in some parts, and became a bit of a mess in others. Not enough actually romance, and a little far-fetched.
