Is it possible to move from one love triangle to another? Does that make it a love quad? And factoring in the platonic male friendships, does that make it an emotional love Quint?

Meg Hannah has no idea how to untangle her own brain, let alone the complicated system of friends, lovers, and exs. She'll try, but odds are she'll end up falling again.

MEG
There's a really good shot that I messed up everything. How do I keep having hot sex with a rockstar without him finding out just how much of an emotional landmine I am?
It's time to probably not repeat old patterns if I want a relationship with Ian Reilly. I should have told him about my mom's struggles. I should have confided in him, but it's so new. And he's young and hot, and I want him to keep having sex with me. The Committee can handle my emotional burden for now. Ian can simply keep the lighter, sexier, uncomplicated version of Meg rolling in orgasms. Eventually, we'll get to the baggage part.
Ian doesn't know it yet, but he should be thrilled my friend Jake is back in my life. He can be my emotional bellhop for a while until I'm ready to share more with Ian. Jake's seen a lot of the ugly history close up and has handled it just fine. He's my safe sounding board. And Ian doesn't need to worry about him at all, he's married.
But I do need Jake and my sister to stop nagging me to open up to Ian. Just give me a freaking minute to be effortless. I'll get to it.

I used to create "dreams" with my best friend growing up. We'd each pick a boy we liked, then we'd write down a meet-cute that always ended with a happily ever after.

Now I get to dream every day, although it's a little steamier these days. And I've discovered I can and will write anywhere I can. Keep tuned to Instagram to see all the times I fit in a sentence or two.

I'm a writer, married to a writer, mother of a creative dynamo of a nine-year-old boy and currently a little sleepy. I'm a klutz and goofball and love lipstick as much as my Chuck Taylors.

Good things in the world: pepperoni pizza, Flair pens*, wine, coffee, laughing with my friends until my stomach hurts, a musician at the top of their game, getting lost somewhere I've never been, matinee movies on a weekday, the Chicago Cubs, a fresh new notebook full of possibilities, bourbon on a cold night, Fantasy Football, witty men, walking through the local zoo in the rain and that moment when a character clicks in and begins to write their own adventure. I'm just the pen.

you know those books where you want to shake a character so hard so they get their shit together? and then when they finallyyyyy get their shit together you're like "FUCK YAH! WE DID IT!!!" like. you are legit involved in this characters life choices and you feel proud that you've overcome all these life hurdles together? or is it just me?

although this book has all the drams and might drive you crazy, it's worth it. we get all the feels. you're angry with meg. you're happy for meg. you want to shake meg. you want crazy rockstar sex like meg. meg is your home girl who has a fake candle company. so do you need a new best friend? read about meg.

here's my thing... since i always have one. i didn't LOVE jake. i think it's because i pretty much wrote him off for the first book and half the second so i had this idea in my head i had to hate him for talkin to other women in the middle of the night while being a married man. sigh, i just wish i could have loved jake more.

and ian... i can't lie. im still a little mad at cha...

I think Kelly Kay would probably have a mischievous grin on her face if she read my review for the Shock Mount, thinking “Oh sweet Chelsey, darling, just you wait”

Girl knocked it out of the park with the second book.

I often find myself complaining about how authors should have split books in parts, and she did this here and it worked. We needed all of these stories but in one book it would have been way too fuckin much.

Life lessons, growth, beautiful romance, fixing your own shit and finding yourself, and love.

I love how it wasn’t even just about Meg, but that as she grew, so did everyone around her. The best happily ever after anyone could have asked for. From Meg, to Brian, and Jennifer, and my love Peter and of course you can’t forget Canyon, that little whore.

Scott & Wade are still trash and Ian.. well maybe next time, bae.

This story is everything!

What a perfect wrap up for this emotionally charged duet. We pick up right where Shock Mount left us with Meg waiting to see what was behind Ian’s three text dots.

This isn’t the usual romance this is a story of a woman coming to terms with her life, her choices, the mistakes she has made, and her willingness to fix what is broken within herself and to allow herself to really be happy.

Kelly Kay has written yet another story with fiercely loyal characters who you can’t stop yourself from caring about. I’m going to be honest there was one character that really annoyed me, but even that character came around in the end.

This story is a journey of self reflection and acceptance for Meg, with smart dialog, fantastic music references and some pretty steamy scenes too.

I cannot express my love for Kelly Kay’s writing enough, she gives you part of herself when she writes and it shows. You need to read all of her books, but you can start with this duet. Make sure you read them in order!

Who will be there at The End?
The hurricane love affair is showing some fractures. Is it too much a physical connection and not enough of an emotional one – really getting to know one another? Does age and maturity have something to do with it? Questions with some or without real answers, as life can be. In the meantime it is a roller coaster story, that lets you experience all the emotional turmoil all the MC’s and their friends and family are going through. What a book! Needless to say I enjoyed every minute of it, couldn’t put it down and put my homely duties aside for it. You have to read both books in this series to get the whole story and boy, are they worth your while! <3 <3 <3
Now that I know a bit more about ‘the boys’, I’ll reread the Carriage House Chronicles. Follow me :)

Just amazing!

Okay, I admit it! I failed to review Duet Book 1 because I was too impatient to read Duet Book 2! Take a chance with me and read each of them the same day. These stories are so intertwined, they just can't be separated, nor should they be! I love this author and each of her characters! So here we go again . . . Now I am waiting for Book 3. Ahhhhhh. Lucky me! Thank you, Kelly Kay! Absolutely perfect!

I thought I loved the first book, but this one had me even more hooked. Meg is such a relatable character. She is quirky, has her friend group, clumsy and follows her heart. Best of all she has flaws. The way Kelly Kay wrote this book really makes you connect with the characters. At the beginning of the book, I was still rooting for Ian after our encounter with him in the first book. After meeting Jake, I was praying for Meg and him to get together. The back and forth of will they/ won’t they really made you want to keep reading.

I can’t wait to read more of Kelly Kay’s books.

Well …. Where to begin….

Unfortunately, I read Residual Sugar (amazing book! 5 big stars) before reading this duet so I knew from the beginning that Meg and Ian were not going to get a HEA. I so wish I hadn’t because otherwise this plot twist would have been great! I stumbled upon this duet when looking for Ingrid and Ian’s story (Follow Me … my next read) and discovered I should read this duet first.

Because I knew that’s weren’t going to make it, I kept wondering what would be their ending. I figured Meg’s lack of trust to deepen their relationship and Ian’s jealousy would be their downfall. I hate that Ian cheated, although supposedly not the whole reason for the breakup, given Meg’s history, it was entirely too predictable.

I do wish that Ian hadn’t cheated. I hate cheaters so I’ll have a hard time putting that behind me to cheer for him in Follow Me. I hope he’s up to the task of redeeming himself … he has a lot of maturing to do …we’ll see …

Life's Lessons

There are words in my head to describe the conclusion of Meg's story.
Reflective, she lived in the past until she was forced to recognize her future.
Hypocrisy, yes Meg, you reeked of it. But I understood why. I have done the same thing myself.
Letting Go, it was necessary.
Full circle, Jake. Enough said.
This duet was like meeting someone who became a really close friend and as such, you were introduced to her friends and family.
I enjoyed getting to know them and the enormous part that they had in Meg's life. I do feel there are some unfinished stories though.
Wade and Ian.
I chose to be cryptic in my review because this is Meg's story to tell. The good and bad.

Adore. This. Book. Such a good ending. I worried how she would work it all out but the HEA was sooo worth it. And Meg's journey to becoming a better person is so fantastic. Jake is the cinnamon roll hero rocker you want and Ian is the rock god sex. When I finished this I was so glad my book hangover could be satisfied because I ran to pick up the follow up novella - Follow Me. Needed more of all of them. If I had a Pantheon (IYKYK) this book would be in it.

What great stories!

Watching Meg navigate her way through all of her relationships was amazing. I loved her, her Committe, and both of these books. I highly recommend!

Filmmaker Meghan’s involved with famous younger musician Ian, and they are both committed to the relationship. Meg fears showing her full self to Ian. Ian doesn’t like the way Meg is overly concerned with her friends. His attempts to get closer to her end up backfiring and causing more damage. All is not what it seems with one of the friends either.

This second story in the series starts where the cliffhanger in book one (Shock Mount) ends off. Strongly recommend reading these together! And a tip… I re-read Follow Me which continues (mostly) where Crossfade ends off. (And it doesn’t hurt to have immersed myself in the Five Families winery series either). Be aware, there is a lot of steam taking place in all three of the these beauties, but also so many feelings, supportive friends and family. The “happily ever after” in book two (a.k.a. this half of the story 😉) is not what I was expecting at all at the start. Kelly Kay’s writing across these stories flows seamlessly and I feel like I am watching a series rather than reading a book, it’s that good!
