Eldest of five I was drawn to writing as young as seven years old, but only really got into it when I turned ten. It started out with poetry, short stories about unicorns and genies and from there sort of exploded. Falling into a world of books only made me want to write more and in my teens when emotions didn’t make sense and I hurt in ways I couldn’t explain, the words on the page became my solace. I tried several times to get published over the years and was turned down for one reason or another. Not for any lack of skill, but because my work didn’t suit the apparent target market. After the birth of my first son, I contented myself with posting on fanfiction.net, then later AO3. More a hobby, I had been left disheartened and had no desire to try again. Then on June 14th 2018 I watched my second child come into the world 15 weeks too earlier and I saw someone who seemed too frail to be real, fight through all the odds and never let anything keep him down. I realised then, if my little warrior can do that...Then I can be the writer I always wanted to be. I like writing really anything, but I stick primarily to fantasy and sci-fi. As my work comes to light and grows, hopefully I’ll have something to suit any avid reader x
A very good first attempt that is well worth reading. The poems are very well crafted, and though dark at times, they are often sprinkled with hope. The short stories are quite engaging and well-thought-out and definitely worth a look for those who are fans of fantasy.
An excellent debut for an author looking to break into the market. From lines that are light and to the point to the deeper, impactful messages hidden within. Many of the poems in this book feel like they are drawn from life lessons and experiences, which makes some of them all the more relateable. Overall: a welcome read!
Very well written poetry. Very vivid imagery. Perfect account of teenage angst and depression. Dark topics but signs of hope too. Look forward to reading more of this authors work.
Enjoyed this collection of poetry. It was beautifully written, it was dark but so much hope. I am looking forward to reading more works from this author.
This is the first book I read from this autor and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. Amazing job!
